Not too long ago we purchase a Roomba 104 Combo and we love it so much that we wanted to add another one to our home. We decided to purchase this one, the Plus 405, we picked this one since it has the ability to lift the mop pads when it transitions from our wood floors to or carpets and area rugs, and it was really cool to watch this happen in real-time during its first cleaning. We also like that the 405 will re-wet the pads as needed, and once it's done cleaning it washes & dries the pads on its own, which our 104 could not (we remove it & put it in with the laundry). The 405 suction power was great and got all the dog hair off all our floors, and there is a lot of fur between the two of them. The app make it easy to add and we can easily switch between the two (we moved the 104 down to the basement). The setup was easy and the app did a good job guiding us through the setup and building a accurate map of the main floor. If you are looking for a vacuum/mop combo robot, I would recommend getting this one. ... show more

I have been aiming for this iRobot vacuum for a while and finally I picked this product to try out due to a reasonable price with loads of features it offers that meet my needs. I have run several tests with this product before it passes the 30 days return window from Amazon. My reviews on this product are based on the product shipping and handling, out-of-the box experience with assembly, battery charging and running time, ease of use, noise level, vacuum suction level, and finally the product quality. Pros: Package and shipping: I received the product on time as advertised on Amazon. It came well packed with double boxes. Inside the box, the vacuum and accessories were very well packed, and all the components are included as advertised. Out of the box, it took me less than ten minutes to assemble the vacuum. All the unit/parts are designed to assemble or disengage with a simple click and push/pull. The material/hardware for this iRobot vacuum looks high quality, solid, and well-designed. It’s easy and intuitive to access and remove the replacement parts such as filters, mop pad, brush, trash bag, water tanks etc… Included in the box is a cardboard with simple setup guide. It took me less than 10 minutes or so to complete the setup as a new user. If someone already has an account with Roomba before, all they need to do is to sign into their Roomba mobile app and add this device. The Roomba Home (mobile) app is very intuitive to use. iRobot embedded AI technologies to this product that makes it very easy to operate. It comes with many features that gives the users choices to fulfill their needs. I really like the mapping feature that it scanned my 1800 SF home in less than 20 minutes, and it allows me to modify each area of the house for different cleaning/mopping needs. This robot climbs over the floor dividers with no problem. For the battery and charger, it took up to one hour for a fully charge in my case. I tested running on 3 different modes of Vacuum Only/Vacuum & Mop in Light, Standard, and Deep cleaning. The robot performed as expected. Cons: not at this time. I will get back with updates on what I found. Overall, this vacuum does what it is supposed to do as advertised.     • Complete failure. Multifaceted disgrace to the robot vac/mop world

Like many of the other unhappy reviewers, my robot is ridiculous. Out of the box was easy, setup was easy, first mapping of my house was easy. Then I started cleaning. It cannot handle throw rugs -- like ever. My other robot vac before this was smart enough to just -- ya know -- clean them. This one, it cannot. Fine, I say, I'll toss the area rugs on the patio while the robot is cleaning. The mopping seemed worlds better than my old vac/mop. Unlike my other vac/mop, this one just has two rotating pads that it goes to the station to get wet, and then after 50, 100, or 150 sq ft (you set it up in the app) it will go back and clean the pads. This honestly seems to work fine. But after day 1, it couldn't connect to the app. I started with the chat customer service - and then got disconnected by them for 5 min of inactivity -- while we were waiting for the vacuum to do something. With no way to get back in touch with that helper, I decided to call the toll free customer service line. Waited on hold for 30 minutes, then got someone who helped me for about 30 minutes. Had to do TWO factory resets. It continued to do odd things ("Push and hold the home button" "It started driving around while I'm doing that. I'm still holding it." "Hmm. That's odd." YES IT IS!). We did a map of just one room in my house to make sure it was working properly again. It was successful, in that it mapped one room and began vacuuming it while I was on the phone with him. He had me delete that map and then instructed me to just create a new map of the house. Started that process and then he called the ticket closed. But oh, no sir, it is not closed. After creating the map of the house, it says to check it in the app. Guess what? It still doesn't want to connect to my stupid app. Reset again. Mapped the house again. Failed again. Called customer service again. 30 minute wait again. Then he says the ticket needs to be escalated to the next level of support and they would get back to me within 24 hours. It's been over 48 hours and still nothing. Today, for fun, I factory reset it again. Success. I mapped the house. Success. I said, ok go clean. And then it stopped communicating with the app. App has no idea where it is, what it's doing. It's sitting on the stinking dock and the app is like, you might need to factory reset. I'm done with it. It drags the mop across the carpet -- doesn't lift the pads high enough. It gets tangled on everything (another reviewer said it seeks them out to eat them and I don't disagree). It actually got tangled up in a sandal. A freaking SANDAL. Like, how about you avoid the shoes?! And it eats the throw rugs. Every time. The vacuuming was sub-par. All along the area rug (the entire house flooring is tile, and we have area rugs and throw rugs throughout), there was a line of dirt. Last big thing for me, is the amount of hair that gets stuck in the main roller. My bot was making hecka racket, so I went to check the rollers. Sure enough there's a ton of dirt that's just hanging out, not getting sucked away. I pull out the roller to clean and the hair is wrapped up *under* the little green rubber roller. It's impossible to get out. And I agree with other reviewers - it's noisy. My other vac/mop is quieter and it's 10 years older. This is such a failure even at 50% off prime day savings, I would never recommend. It's going back. ... show more

I’ve been looking for a robot vacuum since last year after we purchased our home. I have always used upright vacuums and always loved it. This time, I had to be get something that doesn’t need me all the time. The space is big and it takes forever to vacuum and then mop. I am happy that I came across iRobot Roomba® Plus 405 (G181) Combo Robot Vacuum & Mop with AutoWash Dock. This has made my life very easy. The set up was very easy. I just needed to install an app. The vacuum itself came all installed. I just needed to add some few things. I had to map the area first which can take some time. It works very well on carpet and rugs as well. I then vacuumed and then mopped. I am satisfied with mopping. I am not very satisfied with vacuuming though. It takes forever to clean the small area.
