  • LOVE MY ROOMBA! And it’s not the end of the world to empty it yourself!!
I absolutely love these! I bought my first one over 10 years ago, it still works like a champ. I’ve bought rebuild kits for a couple times and a battery once. They are super easy and CHEAP to maintain. They clean amazingly well. The old one was kind of a random motion generator, it just sort of drove around for several hours, and when you’d look at the tracks on the carpet you would think that a toddler had been driving it. But it did the job! The little dust bin would be absolutely full. You wouldn’t think that little tiny motor would be powerful enough to do much good but it really is. I love the functionality of these things, I turn it on and I leave. When I get home the floor is clean, how simple is that! It fits any place you want to, I would suggest you use double back tape to tape the docking station down to the floor though because if it’s not solidly fixed, it will be confused trying to dock itself and recharge as the dock scoots around. I just recently bought two more, they are even better than my old one! They were not terribly expensive, so I bought one for my daughter for Christmas and a second one for us. We use this new one upstairs at our business where a lot of us bring dogs to work so you can imagine the dog here. You don’t realize how much dog hair is on your floor until you have one of these things running around every other day picking it up! I use them primarily on hard floors, but it does equally well on carpet. One odd thing though, my upstairs of my house has an extremely high-quality extremely dense carpet and I cannot use it up there because it leaves really bad deep tracks where the wheels continue to run the same path over and over. but on regular low carpeting, normal quality, it does just fine and does not leave deep tracks. It does a great job on all these carpets when it comes to cleaning though, it’s just my complaint about the tires leaving tracks in my deep carpet that I don’t like. The last thing, do not use these on a very deep shag! My daughter had one a few years ago that she used on an area rug that had really crazy deep shag, (so deep that it actually laid over because the strands were about an inch and a half long.) It choked that thing down terribly and ruined it. So do not use it on extremely long shag style carpets. Only use it on very tightly woven carpet or hard floors If you will look at the photo, this is an example of what I’m trying to describe about my upstairs carpet. It’s extremely dense and these are the indentations that chair legs leave. They clear themselves up in just a few minutes, but the Roomba would continue to grind those tire tracks in every day Which did not look like it was real good for my carpet. So do not use a Roomba on an extremely dense carpet ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY THIS: All 3 vacs failed within less than 6 months, including 1 warrantied replacement!!
READ THIS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE THIS VAC! We had used "non-smart" robot vacs (Eufy brand) for several years before upgrading to our first "smart" robot. And we thought, "Why not go with the biggest brand for robot vacs, like Roomba? It must be a quality product, right?" Wrong. We later learned that this company has changed dramatically from the original, and their products are absolute trash! Additionally, the Roomba company has already filed for bankruptcy, if that gives you any indication about the quality and stability of this company. Anyway, we stupidly purchased 3 of these vacs at once: one for each of the 2 floors in our home, and one for my business front office. Of these 3 vacs, every single one has terminally FAILED within a matter of a few months, including a replacement for one of them (so technically, 4 Roombas have failed)!!! The 3 locations that these vacs are cleaning are not excessively dirty, either. We use the vacs for supplemental cleaning to reduce dust and dirt. This product is just trash. - Vac death #1: The first floor vac in our home failed around day 85 of the 90 day warranty window, so we "luckily" got a free replacement because the lidar failed and rendered it useless. - Vac death #2: However, that replacement vac ALSO terminally failed (I suspect some kind of internal computer issue), but at month 4 of use, so Roomba won't replace it. - Vac death #3: The vac at my business failed next after 5 or 6 months of use. Roomba won't replace these units because they failed after the 90 days warranty window. - Vac death #4: The 2nd floor vac in our home just failed recently after about the same time. Roomba won't replace these units because they failed after the 90 days warranty window. So we currently have 3 dead Roombas piled up in our garage (the original vac was sent back when they issued a replacement; otherwise, we would have 4). Before each of these vacs failed permanently, they had other issues that would frequently pop up out of nowhere, and they started almost immediately after starting to use them for the first time: it would randomly lose internet connection, it wouldn't turn on or off, it constantly got stuck on things like our hallway rugs, it would get jammed when it sucked up cat toys, it would throw some random error code, etc. I found one stuck, pushing itself into a wall, while the wheels just spun continuously, unresponsive to the power button, so I had to flip it over and let it spin until its battery died. Each time these units had random issues that I couldn't solve with basic troubleshooting, I would have to waste 45 minutes chatting with their customer service to get these POS's working again. Of the 45 minutes wasted, 40 were Roomba techs asking me to perform the basic troubleshooting that every adult human already knows how to do (turn it on/off, hold to reset, verify your wifi is working, etc.), plus wasting more time to send them pictures of the vacs. We bought these "smart" vacs to SAVE US TIME, and these POS's ended up costing us like $750 between the 3 units plus several hours troubleshooting and babysitting these stupid things. Time we will never get back. If I could rate this 0 stars, I would. We have since switched to 3 Roborock smart vacs and so far (with an additional 2 year extended warranty), they are working very well. No issues. ... show more

  • Great Value for Money - Quiet Robot Sweeper
Definitely recommend this robot vacuum if you are looking for something that is not overly complicated and does a good job. We had a Roomba vacuum for a few years before it gave out and liked the job that the old one did, so I searched around and decided to buy this one. This one is much quieter, runs smoothly, picks up very well, and does a good job on any type of floor including carpets. The price of this product is very good for what you get - I am amazed at the item that I got for what I paid. Would 100% recommend this vacuum. ... show more

  • Overall happy except side spinning brush
Great so far! Picks up great, and tracks the rooms like supposed to. Like that I can change suction per room as needed per traffic. Only issue had was the side spinning brush kept running and wouldn't stop even afyer flipping it over and taking tank and both brushes off, app said was stuck but was just infront of closet nothing under it. Trying to reset/ turn off didn't work as well to get it off till I held it for like 2 mins straight after multiple tries. Trying to get their customer service was annoying not the right option I needed and hold time said 5 then 10 mins and after 14 mins hung up after getting it to turn off. ... show more

  • Don't waste your money
Stopped charging after 2 weeks. They sent me a replacement. That one kept stopping about twice a week and saying the mop bin wasn't attached (didn't have a mop bin). Spent lots of time with tech support and did all sorts of stuff. After 6 months of frustration, just threw the piece of crap in the trash. Don't waste your money. It wouldn't let me put 1 star, so it gets an overrated 2 stars. I've got 5 other 600 series that work great. ... show more

  • This is an amazing floor cleaning robot!
Our Shark just stopped working and we replaced it with this IRobot Roomba 104. We made a great decision, quality, suction power, smart navigation , long battery run time. I loaded the app, charged the unit and first start this unit mapped my floor plan and then cleaned everything. The cleaning power is much better than the Shark, solid unit, at a much better price. This unit works it way around every inch, rugs, laminate floors, kitchen island. The unit even tells me if it gets stuck, or it runs low on power it goes back to its charger, recharges and returns where it left off, incredible. Easy to program, long battery life, powerful suction and smart nav, cleaner floors and carpets. Happy wife, happy life. ... show more

  • AVOID! Required use of terrible app renders this useless
TERRIBLE! Summary: MUST use their terrible app, which forces you to constantly remap your room. That and the terrible contact charging method render the auto vacuum function unusable. 1- yes. You must download their app, scan the code, register, map your room, and a whole bunch of other BS. No you cannot just buy this and press power to use it. That doesn’t exist anymore. (This is owned by a Chinese company so don’t expect the highest level of security) 2- once you map your house, no problem right? NO. You must now start the robot from the app for it to follow your used map. Want to press power and expect it to follow your saved map? Too optimistic. 3- if it doesn’t follow the saved map, it creates a new one. Once the new map is created, you must either save or edit it. There is no DELETE or REJECT option. You must override your existing map. 4- you’d think an automated function tied to the original saved map would help this. WRONG. The charging mechanism is terrible. It’s simply contact charging, no click or plug or resting place, so the robot has trouble connecting itself to the charger, which creates errors. You may notice a few days later and connect it. But the automated function still didn’t work. 5- the dust bin has a poor design, with a thin plastic flap as a intermediary between bin and exterior. This flap frequently falls off and attracts dust creating a thick film on it. 6- the vacuum gets stuck on air vents (which is why creating a map is useful, if it would just accept it) and is stubborn about investigating. You can block it, move it, whatever. It will keep going back to the problem spot. Again, if you just press power to clean, the robot ignores your map so this will be a problem. 7- overall cleaning- decent overall cleaning once ya get it to work, but definitely not am the best I’ve seen. Does leave behind some things, especially larger items. ... show more

  • Ok-ish functionality, good cleaning on hard floors.
This is the second robot vacuum I've owned. The first was a different brand, but many of the parts are exactly the same design, and the other also had LIDAR. The other was much better at effectively sweeping. This Roomba goes all over the place when it is sweeping a room. It doesn't seem very logical most of the time. It often seems lost while sweeping or trying to return to the base. It doesn't always position itself correctly to charge. And my base is setup properly. It has very little object avoidance or detection. It sweeps something up it shouldn't and just keeps going the majority of the time, even though you can clearly hear from another room that something is caught in it. Then, when it does finally stop, it just sits there and kills the battery, even though it isn't doing anything. Either this batter is junk or my previous one must have entered a lower power state or something because it would not be dead if got jammed up on something and I didn't find it for hours later. Or both, because this has to charge twice to sweep what my last one would do without charging when I first got it to charging once before finishing after it was much older. Today, I discovered two piles of something dark and soft, very fine, under it. It apparently drove itself against the wall until it died, burning much of the rubber off the wheels in the process. It had a tiny plastic cap from my kid's pencil lead case under it as well but I have no idea if or how that contributed to the burnout against the wall. You would think if that caused it to get hung up, it would stop and say it was stuck. It is only a couple months old, so it is still under warranty. I used the chat feature in the app to report the issue and they say they are sending me a new one. Hopefully this was just a "lemon" and the next one will be better! I also don't like that my iRobot mop has to use a different app than this vacuum. On the plus side of things -- this dustbin is much larger, and some of the components are higher quality. The value for the money is so-so. If the replacement isn't better, then I would try a different brand next time. The app works fine and has some things better and some things worse than the other I had. Mapping was fairly easy, but it doesn't seem to update the map as it completes sweeping jobs like my old one did. If it mises a room on mapping, you have to redo the entire map to get it included, as far as I could find. It's either not user friendly to update the existing map, or it isn't possible. ... show more
