First review: From 2016, this is the 5th tens unit I've tried. I've never tried another since. It's the smallest to carry around, and I love the way it works! I have 2 units which both seemed to quit on the same day (I usually keep one in my purse for backup). I called iReliev - BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! - and Mike figured out it was probably the wires (makes sense if both units quit on the same day - duh!) He then spent a good amount of his time figuring up weight and contacting Fed Ex to find out how much it would cost to overnight. I will be sitting (sitting = pain) waiting for them. He also made a great suggestion when I asked about sending another unit overnight just to be on the safe side. Thank you so much, Mike! Lizzy Update: 8.6.2022 Still use this almost daily, but usually only 2-5 hours at a time. I have 3 now. One stays in my car, one at a loved one's home, and one either "on" my hips or on my dresser. For the first 2 years, I would drop the unit ~ 5-10 times/week because I didnt always use the clip , nor would I keep it in my pocket while sitting. The back would pop off, but the unit still worked. One unit finally quit working on one side only. I have had these units since 2016 and I wear one almost every single day. After landing on the hardwood or tiled floor so many times, I can't believe they still work!!! The only con I would have is something that's probably due to my sensitive skin and the fact that I perspire quite a bit. I will sometimes get sores on my hips if I wear them for an extended period of time, especially if I sweat a lot while wearing them. (For example, gardening in the hot and humid south.) I've learned to wash the area with alcohol before applying the pads, and to change them as soon as I finish. I cannot recommend these highly enough. I've spoken to several people who have said they've tried it, but it didn't work for them. I believe that they only tried it for a short while. The first time I tried it, it was only for about 10 minutes. I didn't really give it a good chance. I would suggest that you try it for at least one hour, at the highest level you can use (without actually hurting). I normally use it in therapy mode setting of P3 at a power level of 12 for at least an hour or 2. It continues to help block the pain signals the longer I have it on. I also use it a night if I can't fall asleep due to pain. It uses 3 AAA batteries. You can use rechargeable. I tried Amazon batteries; they do not last! Duracell batteries last a long time. I actually place the pads exactly where my pain is, one on each hip. It says to place it on either side of the pain, but the "buzzing" ON my pain works for me. Try different things out. I can't speak highly enough of this as an aid to block pain, in addition to or in place of pain medication. Update: 11.11.23: Still going strong! I've replaced wires (which are approximately $4.00 each) and pads (which are ~ $ .50 each). I'm pretty sure it's still the smallest unit out there. I've also had some issues with my back, and I use my iRelieve for relief there, as well. Do not use on your spine. The unit, with pads, wires, clip, drawstring bag, and manual is $29.95 at thie time. What a deal! They used to be $300. And I paid it because it works! Good luck! Lizzy

Disclaimer: This is about to get into some grotesque medical details, so skip over if you have a weak stomach. I have PCOS, a condition where my ovaries and uterus grow cysts that can burst and leave me in a ton of pain. Complications include infertility, depression, and severe acne. There is no cure. Occasionally, if a cyst bursts just right, I might pass out and/or compulsively vomit every 5-15 minutes for hours (my longest streak was 10) on end. The ER doctor who originally diagnosed me explained the pain to my boyfriend at the time: "Her ovaries are much like your testicles, and the internal trauma she's experiencing when a cyst bursts is akin to being kicked in the groin repeatedly." Now, with that out of the way, let's get into the review: This unit is a lifesaver. I have found the light and I will never leave. There are controls for different frequencies, each with a numerical scale for intensity, and each with a time scale. You can completely customize your treatment for what works best for you. Pain that used to leave me curled up in bed is now reduced to a minimal ache within seconds. I had another vomit-inducing spell and thanks to this tens unit, I only vomited when it cycled off, which was once every 60 minutes. When you're used to vomiting every 5, that's a miracle. I was able to stay hydrated and ride out the pain, which saved me thousands of dollars from an emergency room visit for IV fluids and anti-nausea medication. Thanks to this unit, I no longer have to skip work due to cramps. It's wonderful to be able to live my life again. That being said, if you have a condition as serious as mine, please alert your doctor prior to using this machine. I think it's fantastic for at home pain management, but it is not medicine and will not cure, treat, or prevent illness or disease. Use in lieu of ibuprofen, not in lieu of an emergency room.

I like this little unit, it's easy to use, the batteries last a long time, fits nicely into a pocket and so on. The only downside - and this is not the manufacturer's fault - is that apparently I'm allergic to the adhesive on the electrode pads. I used it last weekend, worked great, but when I took the pads off I had square purple welts on my skin that are still purple and sore a week later. I'm not sure how long it will take for that to heal, but that's the only downside - and it's just me. Other people might be fine with those electrode pads but I can't use them. And I never raised the intensity over 15% while using it so I'm guessing it's the adhesive. If the pads are ok with you then this is a good little unit. Just beware if your skin isn't happy with the adhesive.

I bought another highly rated TENS unit on Amazon, but rarely used it because it was so difficult to see the screen (tiny and gray, low contrast) and navigating the menu was difficult and confusing. I got this one because of the screen. Large, simple, easy to read. I use it every day. I made the mistake of thinking it was broken when the unit wouldn't respond and seemed stuck. I almost threw it out, but it turned out that this is what happens when the pads lose their connection and/or adhesive. I think it can also happen if batteries are low. I have had this happen several times and ALWAYS the unit works perfectly after I change the pads. This machine is so good and like no other I have found that I was even going to purchase the same thing despite annoyance at it "breaking".......
