I had another mount that clamped the sides of my phone and it worked great for many years... until the spring broke. No fixing that. I had been looking at magnetic mounts and finally bought this one and... WOW! What a bonehead I'd been! I should have done this years ago! It's so simple to use, and now when I get in my car, there's no fuss with mounting, getting the phone just the right way, etc. I just match the plate on the back of my phone to the mount point and it grabs and holds it. I'm not going up mountain trails, but some of the potholes around here are pretty bad, but not once has my phone fallen off. I have used it in my wife's Jeep Wrangler with no issues, and that can be a very bouncy ride. I have had this for 6 months or so now, and am impressed with the simplicity, durability, and functionality and wouldn't hesitate to buy another iOttie product. ... show more

I ordered mine used, like new. It was missing the sticker and larger plate but did have the smaller plate. That one didn't work so well when placing it inside my phone case. However, I decided to do as the instructions say and attach it to the outside of my phone case. It holds fairly well and hasn't ever fallen off in the couple months I've been using it. It has tilted over a bit so that the phone isn't 100% upright but that's not too bad and doesn't happen that often. Please do note that the location of your CD slot may affect how well your phone works. Mine kept going into dark mode and I couldn't understand until I once saw a note pop up that it was entering dark mode because the phone was overheating. My CD slot is at the top of the dash, which is great for viewing the GPS without taking my eyes off the road. But then the phone is in the sun, hence the overheating. Most cars that still have a CD slot have it placed lower so it likely won't be an issue for you. So glad I found this because suction types weren't working and after two years I got tired of the A/C mounted type because not only did it partially block the vent but also blocked some controls. I was able to put the metal on the back of the OtterBox Clip iPhone protector. I then put the pack of the protector shield with my phone facing out toward me in the car. It worked great. I only have one warning I left my phone on the mount while shopping in heated care. The phone had a high-temperature warning on the screen of the iPhone when I returned.     • CD Slot Holder is Great - Slightly Confusing Installation Instructions

I have the CD-slot holder. Have had a few car mounts over the years and this is my favorite so far. More out of the way and secure than dash-top, doesn't block vents, no suction that randomly fails, no adhesive that leaves gunk. The holder does not wobble. My phone sometimes slides, but that is more about how I chose to install the metal plate - I have a thick Otterbox Defender case, and put the metal plate inside the case, so the magnetic hold is slightly weaker than it would otherwise be. Installation instructions were confusing. I don't understand what the point of the little bracket was - in the one I got, you want the lever to be closed. Closing the lever causes the part inserted into the CD slot to move up slightly and "lock" the holder into the CD slot securely. When you put the bracket in, you can't close the lever so the whole thing is very wobbly in the CD slot. I ditched the bracket and closed the lever, and it's great. ... show more

This is affordable and stays on the dash better than others I’ve tried. The magnet is strong as well. The only improvement they need to consider is increasing the height of the arm by about an inch.

This is a great low profile phone holder to be used in the CD slot of your car. I have an iPhone 12 Pro with MagSafe and use a MagSafe case that allows for a strong hold to chargers, magnetic, wallet, and back up battery. This product is not strong enough to use on this phone holder without the magnetic plates included with the product. What’s great is that they include both a large plate to use with phones that do not have magsafe and a smaller plate to allow for use with phones that do have MagSafe to be placed on the lower portion of the phone as to not interfere with the area used for MagSafe compatible products like those previously mentioned. The thin metal plate fits between the phone and phone case. Unfortunately, this product is not compatible with my vehicle due to the inability to adjust the anger or extend the magnetic portion of the holder. As a result, it would block my ability to use the shifter. I highly recommend this to those who have a vehicle that is compatible with this mounting set up.
