I ordered one of these to alert me when packages were delivered in our porch and I also wanted a motion light in the same place. This dose a great job with letting me know when packages arrive. The clearness of the camera picture is just ok I would say. From 25ft away I can tell the color and make and model of the vehicle delivering my packages but can not make out the license plates. Also the resolution for faces is not good enough to identify people more than 10 foot away I would say. The softwear is really user friendly and easy to set up which is refreshing compared to some others I have used. I did hard wire mine in and it was easy to do that way I never have to worry about the batteries being dead. We have a couple of cats and they will set off notifications if they’re walking on the porch. I use the non-paid version and am very satisfied with the features that are available. This is the second one. The first one I sent back because three Ring technicians said it’s not working right return it.. Then, when I installed this one I had the same problem, but I got a really smart Ring technician who said yes it is a plug-in but it has battery back up and you are not programming it right? So she stayed on the line with me while I programmed it and now it’s working great. Great motion detection large range, I have three other Ring, spotlights generation one that work beautiful so now all four sides of my house are covered with Ring protection.. very happy. I got it on sale so good value for the money. First picture new Ring second back yard old Ring . I used tape to keep cords safe. Rings supplies holder but this is easier and works just as good. ... show more

*Edited review I got a call out of the blue from Ring offering to fix the problem. I'm all about integrity and making things right. I had a very nice talk and was shipped a brand new Camera. This is how a company is supposed to be ran. I'll leave the initial review posted below as I've seen done before, and hope that if someone sees it, they won't be discouraged. Power supply seems to have failed within about six to seven months. I choose this camera to replace a camera that lasted for 4 years with little to no issues. This camera (probably a lemon from the factory-it does happen) had issues with staying connected to the network more than any other camera I used. ... show more

Overall, the Ring Spotlight Pro Wired was a great choice for my application. I mounted it where an old light fixture was above my garage when I added to wall lights to each side of the door. As far as the surveillance part of the device is concerned, it is an impressive unit. It’s control via software is outstanding. You can add trigger parameters, areas to ignore, privacy zones, triggering by all motion or only human detection, camera roll duration, snapshot intervals, basically... anything you wish. The image clarity is very good both day and night, and notification options are abounding. HOWEVER... the motion activated lights on this seem to be a complete afterthought. In contrast to the camera, there is hardly any control over the motion detection for the lights. Even the simplest control that you would find on a common motion activated patio light you will not find here. There is no sensitivity adjustment, you can’t control the duration of the light when triggered (factory set for 30 seconds) and it’s detection pattern is spotty. I can walk up to it and it won’t trigger until I’m about 15 feet from it, but it will go on when a car out in the street passes by (more than 30 feet away). There is basically three settings in the software; OFF/ON/AUTO. I have given up and turned it off. I had plans to replace my back porch light fixture with another one of these, but will hold off to see if they improve on the matter. If they gave the light detection a fraction on the care they gave the camera... it would be a home run. But for $250.00 and you can’t even adjust the duration of the light or sensitivity, come on! ... show more

I have a number of Ring cameras and this one was no different. Their instructions were a little different than on previous units but the instructions are both written and there is audio. Super easy. We have black trim on the house so was able to mount it on a trim piece and it is almost invisible. From a functioning standpoint, it captures movement very well even at night. I set it on a medium motion sensitivity and that way it captures cars and people, but pets do not trigger it so am happy where I have the setting mode. Way to go Ring! ... show more

We have several different RIng products we purchased this one for a screened in porch area. It works well and charge lasts a descent amount of time. I recommend purchasing the additional charger for it to be able to dually charge both bateries at the same time.

Jess reached out to me directly from Ring and we set up a phone appointment to see if she could help improve my Ring camera experience...AND SHE DID! Together, we tweaked some settings and now it appears that our Ring camera is working as it should. I am very impressed by this personal service and professionalism from Ring. Thank you Ring and Jess! I expected more from Ring. This camera is mounted on our home in our rural back yard. Great Wi-Fi hookup. Solar panel, double battery. Adjusted to sensitive and zoned. Misses action frequently in our backyard. Watched a young doe eating our geranium blossoms and camera didn’t record any of it. However, it will record the leaves moving on the trees and distant construction noise. Ring totally missed with this overpriced product. ... show more
