When I first saw this I thought it was great idea. I started reading reviews and watching videos. I was disappointed that some people had complained about it not staying place and they had to adjust it all the time because it would stop working. I found another option. You have to lower your water level and cut a hole in the side of your liner. I didn’t like the idea of that. I am over 6 foot and I got the deepest pool I could. I don’t want to lower the water level 2 to 4 inches for a skimmer. So I came back to this. So my thought was this. I will buy this and try it. If it doesn’t work out then I will try the other and cut the hole. Can’t do it the other way around. Once you cut a hole you can’t close it up. Maybe I am not a picky as some people or maybe people don’t know what they are doing. This thing works great. It cleans the pool great. We figured if it becomes a problem we can take out while swimming. We have had the kids in the pool. Jumping, splashing, playing with the skimmer while we tell them to leave it alone. With ZERO issues. I clean the basket out every 2 to 3 days. Make sure it is straight each time (usually it is) the only bad thing I can come up with is sometimes stuff get around the basket and into the screen where hose connects and I have to clean that out. But it is not that big a deal. I am working on an idea to help with that but even if It doesn’t work I don’t care. This thing works great. My problem is we have crepe Myrtle trees that drop these little flower pedals in the pool. So it only makes sense they will find there way through the basket or around it. Wish I bought this thing a long time ago. I don’t have to skim the pool every day or two anymore.

I have the Bestway pole type above ground pool. The skimmer did not stay attached well to the top rail, as it should. The main problem is that the unit is too lightweight which allows it to float right up and off the rail, no matter how much you tighten it. My husband fixed it (photos attached) with a little rope and a couple of weights and it does the trick! Appears slightly “suspicious” but works well and never floats off the rail! Works great now!

This works great for collecting any stuff floating on the pool surface. The correct fitting is included for the 18' round Bestway pool I purchased from Sam's Club, so the installation could not be simpler. The pool came with a fairly high capacity pump, so it was working without the included restrictor on the second inlet, but I wanted it be a bit higher flow. The restrictor made it too strong, so I drilled out the hole quite a bit to get a balance I was happy with. I also bought filter socks and installed one on the basket to catch the little stuff. Overall, the quality seems very good for the price.

This thing is a game changer! I didn’t realize such a simple addition would make such a difference on our 10’ pool. Our pool has stayed clean, clear, and well balanced all summer. We kept getting this film and tried skimming with a fine net but never could get it all. The whole pool would go cloudy and all we could do is empty and start over. This summer we haven’t needed any water changes. The filter needs cleaning more often because this thing does such a good job. I will never own an above ground pool without one again.

Its a cheap skimmer, and it does work, provided your filter pump is strong enough to do some work(pro tip the one that comes WITH the intex pools, its kinda underpowered but it will work this). Down side. arm thingy works great on outside...needs bend on inside to help keep this upright. Downside, top blue piece of bucket and gray ring float on off and leave. Basket will vanish as well and sink to bottom of pool(because why be logical) I have a rock as large as both my fists in there, and I have a true 4 inch across hand, these are not small fists I have. That rock keeps the inner basket in place, though I think its blocking the suction a bit. Does it work, sort of. mostly it tries to eat any left in place pool floaties, and it had the pool thermometer in there earlier so it WILL pick up stuff. So I think I'm gonna have to do some modification to the plastic and put in swing hasps to hold the works together or I'm gonna have to zip tie one side. Plastic also doesn't seem all that durable, Also some instructions in the box mighta been useful(or I had a box that got missed on the instruction part of the assembly line)

I live in the tropics, get gnat invasions, and was fed up with scooping before swimming. After reading so many mixed reviews I figured why not just try it and so glad I did! I ordered the Pool Skimmer Socks too (you really NEED those to trap the small bugs) and used one on the 'inside' of the skimmer. Within about 30 minutes or so the surface was cleaned to perfection! I have a 9' x 18' x 52" Intex Metal Frame pool and I could see it pull bugs from the other side of the pool. ***If you're having trouble with suction make sure you use the plug with the tiny hole in it to close up one of the dual intake lines inside the pool. It mounted well on the frame, installation was super easy, and it shipped pretty fast. So far, I'm thrilled with this skimmer, and very glad I didn't let those negative reviews sway my decision. I've already announced to friends that the 'Swim with the Gnats Program' has ended for the season! UPDATE: After using this for a few years it started flying out of the pool, and the pump would take on air. Have NO idea why it started doing this! *One review said to put a rock in the bottom to keep it from bobbing. NO. There needs to be air below the filter basket & the bobbing is normal. *Another reviewer said they were getting air from the 2nd intake hose because the plug they send with this skimmer has a small hole in it. Um, it's designed that way dude. He put on the original plug with no hole = NO, do NOT do that! I called Intex and a service rep. who's obviously had this question before and really knows her stuff, said pumps are designed to pull from both valves. Closing off one completely will cause more damage to the pump than the small bit of air being sucked through that tiny hole in plug that comes with the skimmer. YouTube to the rescue > Per a video on there, I mounted some thin one-sided foam tape on the frame and under the plastic screws. It fixed the problem! Eventually my pool rusted, and the skimmer has been sitting in my shed since. I recently bought an 8ft. round pool, but the skimmer sits too low in the water. Still trying to figure out if I can make it work! I hope people will listen to some of what I've said because once you get it working correctly, it really is such a time saver when it comes to cleaning your pool.

The best $26 I've ever spent. I was skeptical that this thing would work but I haven't had to skim the pool once since I installed this thing. No little bugs floating around and I live in Florida (the mosquito/no see-ums capital of the world) LOL. Every day before this skimmer I would have to skim the top not to mention you'd see all their little corpses floating around below the surface. Idk how it works so well but it does. If you have two suction hoses you probably will have to block one to get the right amount of suction. At least I did. Don't hesitate to buy it, you won't be sorry.
