  • Great appliance
After using a while I can say that I do love this appliance, I wanted one for a long time but didn't have space, I bought this one for it's air fryer capabilities. It airfrys OK, not as good as a standard air fryer but it does the job. I have not used the slow cooker function so I can't speak to that. I would not recommend purchasing this model for the air fryer honestly, just get a regular instant pot...I also love that I bought the bigger size even though it is massive! I like to prep a lot at once. ... show more

  • Best addition to my kitchen, and certainly beats a stand-alone air fryer, too!
I had a different brand of a pressure cooker, but knew there was a lot of hubbub about Instant Pots and their new air fryer lids. My friend mentioned there was this newer model that doubled as an air fryer / roaster, and I got one! This machine is incredible, I'm being honest. We roast vegetables for almost every dinner and this air fryer lid shaves half the time off of that process and doesn't make the entire kitchen hot. Our oven takes about 10-12 minutes to get to the right temperature, then roasts for 20 minutes, then takes another hour to cool down. The air fryer option on the Instant Pot takes about 2 minutes to heat up, only needs to cook for about 10-12 minutes tops, then cools down very quickly. It's truly a fraction of the time and frees up the oven for the main course! So far we've loved it for cooking carnitas and then crisping with the lid once done, making delicious one-pot pasta meals and broiling the cheese on top, or making some nice stews / other dishes. I'm extremely, EXTREMELY impressed with the Duo Crisp. Pressure cookers are great to begin with, but having the simple addition of the air frying lid is just a total game changer for us. I also didn't realize that stand-alone air fryers are rather expensive, so this machine being able to do both pressure cooking AND air frying for us for less than the cost of a big air fryer has been amazing. I cannot recommend this machine enough! We've had it a month and use it about 5-7 times a week at the moment. It's also helpful for getting roasted vegetables at lunch as it's so quick about cooking. I'll update in a few months or a year on how it's doing - but I'd buy this again a few times with how useful it is! If you're on the fence - don't be. Just get it - you will be happy! ... show more

  • A new everyday kitchen appliance
I have had a 6 qt Instant Pot for years, and it was getting a little small for us since we like to host company frequently. When my crockpot broke, I decided to try the 8 qt Instant Pot Duo Crisp. Here are my findings so far: The pressure cooker function is very simple to use if you have had an Instant Pot in the past. I think the learning curve for an Instant Pot takes awhile at first if you have never owned one before. The only thing I struggle with is that you must press “start” after setting the time, and that was not the case on my old Instant Pot. So frequently I set the time and forget to press “start” and the timer cancels out. The air fryer is a new appliance for me. I was so excited to try it. So far so good! The lid is bulky and must be stored away somewhere since the appliance also comes with a regular Instant Pot lid. Technically you can store away either lid, but I choose to store the air fryer lid because it’s huge and I don’t love the look of it. The air fryer function is easy to figure out. I have made delicious crispy potatoes with the fryer basket, and otherwise have used the fryer lid to finish recipes made in the pressure cooker. It takes them to the next level to have a crispy or melted top, like broiling, but without the threat of fast burning if you turn away. I used this so far for shredded pork, and pizza pasta with cheese on top. The lid for the air fryer must be placed on the protective mat that comes with the set, because it gets very hot. This requires some extra counter space while using the air fryer function. I don’t enjoy cleaning the outside of the Instant Pot - there is no easy way to get food and grime out from the area on which the lid locks. I thought they would have improved that part of the design. I suppose I need to try harder to find a special tool to clean that spot. Overall I love the Duo Crisp. The larger pot has made my life easier, and keeping it on the kitchen counter means I use it more frequently than the one I put away. ... show more

  • I guess I like kitchen gadgets now...
I was always pretty anti-kitchen gadgets. The InstantPot seemed like just another thing that did stuff I could already do on my stove or oven. Boy, was I wrong. I honestly am in disbelief how much I love using this thing. It is so versatile that I use it more than anything else in my kitchen, except maybe the sink. The reasons why? Well, for starters it’s super easy to clean. Instead of making a mess with multiple pans and pots and lids with food stuff splattering everywhere, the InstantPot is one thing that’s fully contained. When the timer ends I take out the food, clean the pot, and wipe down the lid and little “gutter” and that’s it. Two, it’s so FAST! Now, granted some things will feel like they take the same or similar amount of time when pressure cooking because the machine has to build pressure. BUT, the difference is that I can set this and LEAVE! When it’s ready it beeps and I can choose to keep the food warm or have it stop cooking when the timer is done. What really sold me on finally purchasing this is the air fryer attachment. I’ve been wanting an air fryer so this was much cheaper than buying everything separately. I will say that while I do love the air fryer it’s probably not the best on the market. When using a two-tiered basket, whatever is in the top portion *will* be more cooked than the bottom. This is a problem I will try to fix by simply removing the top portion when it’s cooked and letting the bottom cook longer until it’s done. Not ideal, but for delicious air fried food ans the convenience of having these capabilities from one machine at this price, I’ll make do. I recommend purchasing an InstantPot cookbook to accompany this. It will help acquaint you to how this machine can be used, even if the cookbook is more oriented towards one of the models without the air fryer. What do I use this for? So far I’ve made vegan chana masala (yum!), vegan banana bread (yum!), air fried Brussels sprouts (yum!), truffle fries (you get the idea). I’ve also used this to steam food to make dog food for my pup with allergies. One of my favorite things to use this for is dry goods!! I will dump a whole bag of dry beans or quinoa or whatever in the pot, add spices, water, set it, and it’s done to perfection so quickly! I’ll then can everything and freeze it so I have beans and quinoa on hand all the time whenever I need them for a meal! It’s the best! Not to mention the pressure cooker seems to really INFUSE whatever you’re cooking with the spices you choose. The beans I’ve made with this I’ve eaten plain they were so so tasty! I live with roommates but this has been the best purchase ever. I’m lucky to have the room to store it, but it’s also great because they can cook on the stove or in the oven if they want, and I have everything I need right in this InstantPot so no one has to wait on anyone to clear out before they can do their own thing. Things I wish it did differently: - I wish the display showed seconds. Minor inconvenience but the display in general makes it feel cheap. - I wish the display showed what setting it was on and what action it was currently doing. For example, a small icon for “pressure cooking” so you can remember that you chose the correct setting. Or a little icon that showed it was building pressure so you don’t think you didn’t hit “start” or something before waking away. Also, something that showed the current temperature inside instead of what you set it to so you know how things are cooking or heating up/cooling down. - A persistant beep every minute or so when food is finished cooking. ... show more

  • instant pot.
So far it is wonderful. BUT a few more accessories would be nice. Purchased when ninja foodi quit working. It is a little learning curve on cooking time vrs the ninja but I love it. The downside is the airfry lid is heavy and doesn't have a 1 pot steam crisp function. But it is workable. Buy two pot inserts and steam in one than finish off in other pot on airfry. Still working that out. The pressure funcion is great. No hassle and totally safe. Makes perfect large hard boiled eggs. 4 minutes on pressure and 5 minutes cool down under natural steam release than quick release.than immediate drop into ice water and peal. No green eggs and ham here. Just tender eggs . Did not have a cooking guide which was the most annoying thing. So I would recommend this product. ... show more

  • Not a causal appliance
This pot changed my life. I am an Instant Pot girly now. This is a BIG POT. If you have a small kitchen this 8qt is NOT for you. Get a smaller Instant Pot. And arguably this is too big for my family of 3, the 6 qt would have worked fine. This pot is for Instant Pot enthusiasts and not for casual cooks. BUT the air fryer on the other hand, which I use once a week or so, the 8qt is the right size because the food needs more space in order to cook. The chicken wings are magic. After I got this Duo Crisp, my parents got a sturdy toaster oven/air fryer combo that lives on their countertop. It’s wayyyy less hastle than the Dup Crisp for the air fryer function, but the wings aren’t as good. So know that you are taking on an appliance on the level of a bulky toaster oven. ... show more

  • Cooker I Actually Love Using
I received this instapot/air fryer 8 qt. It is massive but I needed something this size. I used it the first day I got it. I cooked 1 pot spaghetti in it. Three spaghetti turned out great. I forgot to season the meat, because I was so excited about getting it in. It cut my cut time in half. The only thing was coming the hamburger meat with the airfryer. It cooked the meat but it browned it to much. Next time I will try cooking it on another setting. I haven't found anything that I don't like about it yet. The size is great for my size family, it cools great for the first time using it. I will try other settings to see how it works with the dehydrator, the pressure cooker, and the other settings. I will update on those and how i like them. ... show more

  • Time saver, all-in-one cooking appliance
Love my insta pot. I have narcolepsy and thus typically have very little energy to complete basic daily tasks. This has been a time saver and makes it easy for me to cook a week’s worth of meals with very little effort and few dirty dishes. This cooker can be used for anything from soups to roast, and can be used to make one serving or many. I only with the aluminum exterior was more durable as it dents very easily, and the dents are hard to remove completely. Wish I bought this ages ago! ... show more
