    • Good enough (or too good) of a mic for pretty much anyone

TLDR: The Fifine AM8 is a fantastic budget competitor to much higher-end mics like the Shure SM7B, while still maintaining aesthetics and quality, but that does come with a few quirks, as expected of the less expensive option. I found out about Fifine through a review of the A8 while looking for a more value-oriented, but still highly performant mic, and although I was impressed with the A8's sound quality, it is a compressor mic, and I quickly realized there is a reason professionals tend to stick closely to dynamic's. Thus, after finding that the same brand had released this mic, a similarly priced, value-oriented dynamic mic that supports XLR, comes with an arm, and can even trade blows with the infamous Shure SM7B ( as seen in video titles like "DO NOT Waste Your Money on The Shure SM7B" on Youtube), I didn't take long at all to place an order. Upon opening the box, I was not disappointed with the aesthetics, as, despite its plastic construction and RGB, it maintains a professional look, and feels solid and hefty in the hand and the stand likewise does not appear flimsy despite its low price. While setting it up, the stand does show its price a bit with its thin, hollow construction, but alas, this is to be expected for the price, and although it is a little short, after set up I have rarely had to think about the stand at all, a sign that it is indeed doing its job perfectly well. The mic, on the other hand, only raises expectations further during setup, with the well-diffused back RGB showing off immediately upon being plugged in, and the capacitive buttons feeling very consistent and responsive. I was also very glad to see that the PC sound passthrough from the headset monitoring port required no setup, started automatically, and sounded indistinguishable from the built-in pc sound. I did however notice a few quirks with this set, such as tapping or hitting the desk sometimes reverberating through the stand and being audible through the mic, the on-mic features (buttons, dials, and RGB,) not functioning without USB C power (such as when using XLR), and the mic reverting to whichever connection method (USB or XLR) was connected first, with no button to switch between the two, and instead having to unplug and plug the mic back in to switch. The sound test was about as I expected from hearing the mic on Youtube, which is fantastic, as the mic does indeed prove itself to be impressively close to mics like the Shure SM7B. With this level of sound quality, if you are, like me, looking for an endgame mic to use for anything from gaming, zoom calls, or even "prosumer" level work like content creation, I see no reason to look for any more than this mic, as the diminishing returns of higher-end mics are simply not worth it for personal use, and 99% of people would not be able to tell the difference between this mic and an actual professional mic (see previously mentioned youtube video). I purchased this product to replace my Antlion ModMic I’ve used for years. I was looking for something that had equal or better sound quality, with a solid boom arm so I didn’t need to hook it up to my headphones or rest it on my desk. This product came with everything I needed and sounds great for the price. I was not expecting a lot from a $70 microphone with an included boom arm, but was pleasantly surprised. It included the arm, mic, USB-C to USB-A cable, and some manuals for setup. Pros: - Coming from the Antlion ModMic (I think gen 3) my friends noticed I sounded a lot more “crisp and clear” with the Fifine. - Its adjustable boom arm allows for a wide range of positions and angles for your use case. I was able to easily set it up in a place that works best for my setup. - Upon plugging it in, it connected to windows and immediately registered as a usable device, no driver downloads needed. - The adjustable dials for gain and monitoring volumes are a great feature to include. - The ability to hook up the mic via XLR input is also great for if you need to slowly upgrade due to budget constraints. With this setup, you can upgrade with a mixer further down the line if needed, or stick with USB input if you don’t want to go full streamer mode. Cons: - The RGB control for this device leaves a lot to be desired, I wish there was a way to control it from my computer. - I wish the mute and RGB buttons on the microphone were not capacitive. I’ve accidentally muted my microphone before because I adjusted the height and accidentally touched it. Thankfully it has a color indicator when it’s muted, but I’d prefer an actual button. Overall this is probably one of the better bargain options for someone wanting a dedicated microphone for games, meetings, or voice calls on their computer. The included boom arm allows for good placement for speaking into the device, and the adjustability of the gain and monitor volume allows you a good amount of control. This Fifine XLR/USB mic is a total gamechanger for its price! It lets you switch back and forth between XLR and USB connections super smoothly. So it'll work great whether you're recording in a pro studio or just doing podcasts from your bedroom and the sound quality is so crisp and clear - it really captures all the little details in your voice without any background noise getting in the way. And it feels solid and looks slick - just nice bonuses on an already awesome mic. For the price, this is a good beginner mic for streaming. The arm is really good, the shape is kinda weird but can’t really change much about that. Sound quality is decent, and the color changing lights are cool. Downsides are the mute button is finicky and in a bad spot. I like grabbing my mic a lot to adjust or move it around while recording and since the mute button is a tap, while grabbing the mic to adjust it mutes and you would know unless looking directly at the light. But, when I actually want to use the mute, it doesn’t work no matter what. Lastly, as seen in the last odd photo, that gold bit (attracted to the microphone) is supposed to be on the silver bit (which is the arm) . While unscrewing it from the arm the gold bit got stuck and now won’t come off. I don’t like how the mic screws on the arm regardless but it still works. The mic just doesn’t fit in the box now. ... show more

Although this didn't come with an XLR cable there are a lot of perks that took my mind completely off of it. The sound quality is very crisp. Nice cancelation is definitely spot on. The RGB is subtle and not over powering. Boom arm is a little small if you have a large desk like mine (78" in length). For the price though these things were definitely expected. Anyone that streams or does Podcast/YouTube videos this is a perfect beginner mic. ... show more

Sounds great considering the price. It seemed like the sound quality was a little better in USB mode rather than XLR but it could be the mixer I have paired with it. Definitely recommend this bundle if your looking for a cheap desk mic. The media could not be loaded. This AM8T microphone set is just amazing. I've been testing this mic for a while, and now I can say I am really impressed by the sound quality. I think its the best mic in its price range. The sound is clear and crisp. I didnt expect its gonna be that good for such a low price. Sometimes during gaming I get up from my setup, (just to make some drink or bring snacks) so I love that I can use gain knob for higher sensitivity recording and then my friends can hear me from distance when I am keep talking to them while I am further away. The mics design is clean and it is so pretty in pink colour. RGB lights adding another customization, so you can personalize it to your setup. Boom arm for easy positioning is moving really smoothly. I think the best feature of this set is that you can connect this microphone directly to your device by USB or you can plug it into XLR mixer. If you will use mixer, sound of the mic will be even clearer. Mixer will definitely bring the best out of this microphone. I would definitely recommend this mic and set to my friends, it is really worth the money. And in my opinion its even better than a lot of more expensive mics. ... show more
