I use this to separate ball joints on 3/4 ton pickup. Wish I had bought one a long time ago. Hits hard and works well. I wouldn't say it separated the ball joints easily but it wasn't too hard. It separated the tie rod ends with ease.

This is the best air hammer I have ever used. As an automobile technician for over two decades, I’ve owned several and used all the top brands. This is the best one out there. Best quality, best performance, and best price (only the cheap generic ones are cheaper and you don’t want those). The short barrel is better in almost all scenarios. It hit fast, is more controllable, and fits into tighter spaces. You can’t go wrong with this one. I bought this initially as a hammer to punch out bolts during control arm replacement. It did great but I thought I'll have no other uses for it. This tool was instrumental in replacing basement windows that were set in metal frame with concrete foundation poured around. The chisels cut through heavy gauge metal frame seemingly easier than angle grinder. But also reached areas where I couldn't get angle grinder blade to reach and then punching action pushed the frame out of concrete. Then I used it to chisel out concrete to make space for a larger window. While not a pleasant process, this tool held up for hours hammering away chunks of foundation. I'm left so impressed and grateful I bought it. Now I plan to use it to chisel out old tiles in a bathroom. ... show more

I needed an impact hammer to replace my old one and man o man did I find the perfect replacement. I'm gonna tell you...if you ever messed around changing out bits with that stoopid spiral spring that seems to want to tighten up on itself every time you want to change bits....get this IR air hammer and put those worries of changing bits in the past! Just pull back the collar, remove the bit, install the next one and you are ready to rock and roll and be a master blaster in no time at all while your buddy next to you with that ancient spring is still trying to change out his bit. You are silently laughing at him while you are off making money with your quick change Ingersol Rand air hammer. Now, I want to clarify something. In the ad it says this thing is "Quiet." The only time it is "Quiet" is when it is doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Once you pull that trigger, you better have some hearing protection on because your ear hair is going to be zinging from to and fro at a high velocity. Your eyes will water and your nose will start to bleed. You will get a headache. You may even cuss out your own mama. That is only after you press the trigger. Once you put bit to metal, then Armageddon starts. Horses from the next county over starts to moo. Dogs start to meow. Cats start to bark. But then you'll feel the power in your hands and feel like a man (or a woman...or a they....or a whatever the case may be....) You'll feel muscles pulsating in your body that you never knew you had as you put bit to metal. The vibratory shock overwhelms the senses and the hearing protection protects you from the neighbors as they scream and plead with you to stop but you are now in a zen high.
