  • The Goldie Locks of Air Hammers.... Not too hot, Not too cold....
Style: Hammer
I love this Air Hammer. I'm a dealership mechanic and I primarily use this tool to remove axle shafts from hubs, supercharger drive "snouts" , and various suspension work and loosening of "stuck" components. this is not the heaviest of duty air hammers but it is balanced, controllable, and is comfortable in the hand. For the money it's hard to go wrong with this one. Power is tunable through a knob at the bottom of the handle. I really like this tool as I can use it with finesse, I can dial back the power when working on "sensitive" components or go full blast for heavier duty work. It has met and or exceeded all my expectations at this price point. I used to have the bad boy Snap-On air hammer (PH3050), but it was very much on or off and it really hit hard (not always a good thing). If you need an air hammer for light to medium duty work that is adjustable and controllable do not hesitate to buy this unit. ... show more

  • Great hammer and value
Style: Hammer
The media could not be loaded. Bought this primarily for removing ceramic tile and thinset and this tool exceeded my expectations. It removed the tiles with ease although the thinset was a little more work with the 3" scraper blade. I would recommend this air hammer it's a quality product at a great price. Note if you removing thinset remember to keep the blade sharp enough and spray the thinset with water to keep dust down. ... show more

  • Works good at first but not durable. Design flaw in trigger
Style: Hammer
This is an update to my previous 1-star review, I have now increased to 3 stars. First off, I purchased this air hammer for use in a brick chimney demolition project. There are 3 things that I wish were better about it. 1. The rubber handle grip is useless. In the first half hour of use it became clear that it is more of an impediment than a help, it just rotates around the handle and interferes with the trigger movement. I took it off and used a glove (the handle gets cold during use, like on many air tools). 2. The hammer bit quick release isn't the most smoothly operating thing I've used. It is prone to not releasing. 3. The biggest issue is that the internal trigger pin assembly has 3 o-rings on it that wear out quickly. Only a few hours into my project I started to notice the trigger failing to release, even with frequent oiling. (Making the trigger stick in the "on" position and the gun hammering away with no way to stop it). Trying to clean out the gun with air tool solvent cleaner did not help, leaving me with an air hammer that had to be disconnected from the air hose to get it to stop hammering. This led to my 1-star review. I decided to disassemble and see what was going on. It was then that I discovered the o-ring issue mentioned above; the o-rings on the trigger pin were all scored along one side and coming apart with little hanging rubber pieces (on the side nearest the power regulator knob). The little hanging pieces were what was causing the trigger to fail to release. Picking them off with a pair of tweezers returned the gun to fully working status. After another hour of use I disassembled again and noticed further degradation of the o-rings. Clearly they won't last much longer, so I went online to try to order genuine Ingersoll-rand replacement o-rings (P/N 114G-168). Unfortunately all the vendors have ridiculous prices ($6 cost + $20 shipping and handling for three tiny o-rings? Give me a break!). I measured the o-rings and they are 5mm x 2mm x 1.5mm -- not a size included in any common o-ring kit. But there are vendors who sell packets of just this size for a reasonable price, for example $5 w/ free shipping for a packet of qty 50 here on Amazon. So I am going to try ordering a packet and rebuilding the gun. I'll update with the results. It's not difficult to pull out the trigger pin to access the o-rings (just need to take off the air chuck inlet bushing & the trigger pin can be extracted with needle nose pliers-- be careful the inlet bushing is spring loaded, don't let the pieces inside go flying off the bench like I did!). But keep in mind that all these issues first appeared with perhaps only 5hrs of use on the gun. Not an extremely well-made tool. ... show more

  • Powerful and well made
Style: Hammer
The media could not be loaded. I originally bought the Dewalt air hammer (I buy Dewalt everything), but was really disappointed in the lack of power. I did a lot of research and finally bought this Ingersol 114GQC air hammer to try it out. I was actually concerned how little it cost, and was afraid it couldn't be that good. Let me tell you that this air hammer is awesome. This Ingersol air hammer simply blew the Dewalt out of the water on head to head tests. I tried both for prepping my concrete steps for stone veneer. The Dewalt couldn't get out of its own way. It consumed all the air in my 27 gallon compressor with minimal results to show. I finally took out my hand chisels and hammer and they did much better than the Dewalt. Next day this Ingersol air hammer came, and I tried it. WOW!!! I am a Dewalt guy, but not for air hammers. All I can say is this Ingersol is a great air hammer and a complete deal for $35 bucks. I took some pics and a few short videos that attempt to show the power difference. Unfortunately I couldn't hold my phone and use the devices at same time, so did the best I could. I could only upload one video, so I chose the Ingersol; see how it shakes my hand. Trust me the Dewalt was blah... ... show more

  • Much better than a no-name one
Style: Hammer
My cheapo $15 air hammer wasn't doing the job for me any more (moved up to larger equipment repair) and going from that no-name one to this one is like going from a Ranger to an F-350. Bigger, heavier, and stronger all around. I also really like the quick-action chisel retainer, far better than the old spring-style. If you do a lot of maintenance work, and think you may have use for an air hammer, do yourself a favor, get a good one right away. The cheapo ones work just well enough to make you realize you should have gotten something better. I work on farm equipment, and there are times I don't know how I would have gotten things apart (short of a cutting torch) without this hammer. If doesn't come with a case, but that isn't enough for me to knock off a star from this excellent tool. ... show more
