  • Worth every penny
I used this little fella to install 80 window faux shutters in 2 days. 240 holes into concrete, and 240 holes into stucco, 1/4" in diameter, 3" deep, second floor. It paid for itself and two XC 5.0 batteries in about an hour. After that it went to my cabinet shop were it joined six other Milwaukee cordless bit drivers and drills to be used daily in cabinet production and assembly, where some of those have been working 2 shifts per day for the last 3 years without single hiccup. I also have some Makitas, that I tried just out of curiosity, can't say they are not good either, but I think the red ones are at the top, at least they feel more powerful and I get more juice out of 1.5 Ah Milwaukee battery than 2.0 Ah Makita's for the same rated tools. ... show more

  • Good drill but unusable clutch
I bought the 2804-20 to replace an aging 14.4 Milwaukee Drill/driver I've had for years. The old Milwaukee had a clutch that was great - when installing screws that you didn't want too tight you set it low and the the chuck would slip at the setting used. This new one seems to limit the motor torque rather than slip a clutch even though the manual mentions slipping. I connected a beam torque wrench to the drill and holding both the drill and wrench I tried to confirm my theory. At any setting from 2 up, the initial startup torque and stop torque increase slightly but are all very close to the same. I wanted to be sure I wasn't just stopping the motor abnormally so I set it to drill and the torque wrench and drill nearly twisted out of my hands... This is a POWERFUL drill. I also have a Milwaukee M18 impact driver, M18 Right angle drill, and M12 stapler. These batteries are amazingly long lasting - it seems like I'm never charging them. This is in contrast to the 14.4 this drill replaced and it's rebuilt battery pack lasts very little time. So... bottom line, for drilling, hammer drilling, and limited driving, this is another great Milwaukee M18 tool. It's a shame the clutch is really unusable but I rarely used that on my old drill anyway. Know whether you prioritize the clutch function before you buy this one - it's really the only down side I see so far. ... show more

  • It drills. . .
SO, I have an old Cordless Panasonic Drill/driver that I've had a LONG time, I've tried to not abuse it, but its got its wear. Before it dies on me, battery or whatever, I'd been thinking about getting another Cordless Driver, to just divide up the work, for efficiency's sake. WELL as far as I can tell, Panasonic doesn't even make cordless drill drivers anymore in the style that I have... at least with a "hammer mode" . NOW disclaimer.. not 100% sure on this. Anyways, whatever the case it'd be like buying a new tool brand even if I could find another Panasonic drill probably. (It looks like Panasonic does make drill drivers for the manufacturing industry, who knew?) So I decided after some research/personal experience to just go with Milwaukee's 1/2" drill with a hammer mode. Because my Panasonic doesn't have that. I figure if I take good care of this unit it will pay for itself. Hopefully as good as that Panasonic has. That thing has been wonderful. (If they'd done a better job with their marketing a long time ago, they'd probably have a bigger share of the cordless tool market today, o'well hindsight is 20/20?) I'm hoping I'll have the same luck with this tool as I've had with my Milwaukee saw & impact wrench... which was extremely good! (though I haven't had them a long time, just a few years) I'll give an update on this drill if needed. One thing I noticed, while using it from the get go, is the way the air is pushed out. I'm curious how this design will hold up long term. Like.. (If it will be a adequate) ... show more

  • Best Cordless Hammer Drill You can buy
I have the previous generation of this tool and love it, now that I have this one I barely even breakout my old one. This one is so much better, lighter, smaller, faster, simpler to operate and will run all day on a 5.0Ah battery (like the older one I have as well). I heard stories about this model overheating but I haven't experienced any issues and I have put it through it paces with repeated concrete drilling. It did get warm to the touch around the motor but it wasn't in the least bit alarming though it did warm up faster than the Gen 2 I own. I don't think that its unusual to expect being in a smaller just as powerful form fit function. Buy it! Use it! love it!! ... show more
