Just hatched our first try of chickens. The machine did all the work! Humidity is well controlled. I did not know what the 2 little flaps were on the side. It is for filling with water to help acquire the desired humidity faster then the automatic water feeder. Looks great. Nice size unit. Seems to be working well. I like the light feature it has for glassing the eggs! Seems a little cheap built and running the hose to the bottle is just a weird concept. But it works. Hopefully I’ll have a successful duck hatch!

As other reviews stated, this incubator has plenty of features like humidity control that make hatching more convenient and increase success rates. I can confirm the candling light is basically uselessly dim. Other incubators have water tanks built in, but this one just has a tube to run into a bottle tank. That may be a pro or con depending on your setup. I’m not sure hatching is going to be for us since we live in town and are limited in how many hens we can have (and have to dispose of roosters). But for me, my kids getting the experience of watching the whole process would alone be worth the price tag.

Got this for a grandson who wanted to raise quail. But, he just has 'too many irons in the fire' and hasn't started. I need to complete this review so I'll cover the features with some observations, as we won't actually hatch any chicks. This unit, while being for hobbyists, mimics a professional incubator. It automates almost every aspect of a brooding hen. Temperature, humidity and egg turning are all monitored and maintained. Something to consider: Unit is designed and preset for chicken eggs. One can manually adjust the unit to other eggs. But, the tray in which the eggs lie is one size fits all. It is designed to rotate a chicken egg a specific amount. That means a quail egg will turn more and a goose egg will turn less. Not sure how this would affect outcome at hatching hour. Logic says a hen doesn't turn each egg perfectly every time so may not be an issue. I wonder about the candling ability as well. Many reviews criticize the candling light, while using chicken eggs. How effective is it on undersized/oversized eggs? There is a plethora of similar incubators in this size and price range. This is quite suitable but one might find comparing units useful research in determining what's most practical. I consider it a 5 star unit because, most generally, it'll be used for chicken eggs and it does what it claims. I live in city limits or I'd use it myself.
