  • Works exactly as described. Highly recommend.
Style: Without Book
The 4th incubator I ordered! The others simply didn't work correctly, and they failed to be effective in hatching eggs. This is a moderately priced unit. We could not afford the $1000 to $1500 models, and the less expensive ones were junk. We were blessed to find this Brinsea. It was affordable, and worked exactly as described. Held both temp and humidity stable. We have used it only once, with 8 eggs (considering our bad experiences with other brands, we didn't want to invest many fertile eggs to it!). We had 100% hatch rate, and now, about 5 weeks later, they are all thriving. I am confident in recommending it. ... show more

  • Excellent product but a couple of things
Style: Without Book
IMO Brinsea really does make the best incubators. But they are very expensive. But I have learned through the years “buy once cry once”. Not to be foolish with ones hard earned money, but these really are routinely rated the best for a reason. That being said, in setting mine up, when running the hose around the peristaltic pump the hose would slip off of the plastic fitting once it was inserted back in to its holder. Every. Time. It seemed once there was tension on that bit of hose it would not remain attached. Fortunately we had a small zip tie and were able to secure it in place. The last thing we wanted was a faulty water supply to they automatic humidity control system. If I didn’t have eggs to set straight away I would have followed the instructions to replace that section of tubing, but the zip tie was a simple remedy. I also had an issue with the humidity running very high, above my setting. Directions said not to add water to the internal wells, but to place the sponge in. I found I had to remove the sponge to get the proper humidity (57%). Otherwise it kept running up to 70% The other thing I’d like to point out is that Brinsea states that you only require the large carriers for goose and quail/bantam eggs. I was setting welsh harlequin duck eggs. They were precariously on the edges of the cradles, I.e. they did not sit in to them. They managed until the large cradles arrived. These are not from a large duck, so maybe call duck eggs would be ok. Overall, it’s been set it and forget it. Follow your plan and it’s incredibly stable. Just that one minor hiccup during set up and having to get the large trays. Which BTW are half the price elsewhere. Now that I have it figured out, I look forward to hatching everything from chickens, ducks, and geese in this incubator. ... show more

  • Defective power Cord
Style: Without Book
Very disappointed with this incubator!!! Ive owned a Brinsea before and although the cord was a bit lose, it wasnt this bad. This one, the power cord just falls out and even with tape supporting it, it has to be in an exact spot to power up. If you wiggle it, or it moves even slightly, it causes it to turn off constantly. Im pretty sure my eggs are dead and for a $470 incubator, the cord should fit in snugly and not have this issue. ... show more

  • Love it!
Style: Without Book
I’m really impressed with this incubator! I used it for my most recent hatch with shipped eggs, and I’m thrilled to report a 90% hatch rate, which is amazing considering how delicate shipped eggs can be. The temperature and humidity controls are accurate and easy to adjust, and I love how quiet it runs. The design is user-friendly, with clear instructions that made the process straightforward, even for a first-time user like me. The automated turning feature was a huge plus, saving me time and effort. I’m definitely confident in using this incubator for future hatches, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for reliable results! ... show more

  • Love, love, love!

I've had such amazing luck with this incubator. Save yourself the disappointment of poor hatches and spend the extra money up front. The temps and humidity are very consistent. And proper humidity can be the bane of my existence some days! It's definitely a "set it and forget it" incubator. My only cons are that replacement tubing can be a pain to find, cleaning between the two layers of plastic requires you to have to take it apart some, and there's not a whole lot of head room for the clutch. But that's nothing to gripe about when your hatches continue to be successful. Well worth the money! ... show more

  • Wonderful Hands-off Humidity and Temperature Maintenance!
Style: Without Book
Although I think this plastic machine is on the pricey side, I was willing to invest in the convenience of not having to worry about constantly manually maintaining the humidity level, which I have had to do with other incubators. Upon receipt, I watched a YouTube video produced by the manufacturer, which helped in the ease of setting up the incubator. I'm not real tech savvy or the best at following detailed instructions, so I just opened the box and followed the step by step in the video -- very easy! So, my new Ovation 28 EX is set to the correct temperature and humidity, and is presently filled with fertilized show quality silkies and bearded Belgium Mille Fleur D'Uccle eggs. Looking forward to hatch day! If I have any issues, I will return to edit this review. I am writing it a little early because Amazon told me if I write six reviews, they would tell me a joke. This joke better be worth it! ... show more

GREAT incubator! Easy to use. Love how it functions. Really nice design. Can accommodate various size eggs: chicken, turkey, duck eggs. Automatic - it does the work for you. Could not be happier with the versatility.
