  • Reliable and easy to use
I’m new to egg hatching and have now seamlessly hatched three separate batches of eggs thanks to this awesome incubator! It’s extremely easy to use (Brinsea’s YouTube setup video really helps), self manages and provides consistent results. I know it more expensive than alternative brands, but well worth it for the quality and consistently. It provides a very steady temperature, manages rotating the eggs on its own and adds whatever water is needed to keep the humidity consistent (simple attach an ice cream bucket of water to the provided tubing). I literally went on vacation for two weeks and came back to well developed eggs ready to hatch! Awesome and well worth the money for someone who wants a low maintenance experience with all the fun of hatching eggs! ... show more

  • This is the best incubator we have ever used!
This incubator does everything for you and takes away the stress from incubating. It monitors the humidity in its own and pulls in water when needed. It has an automatic egg turner that can be set at different time intervals. So far, we have had a 100% hatch rate with this incubator!

  • Not previously used
Initially I was concerned this incubator had been previously used/returned based on the packaging and a Amazon previous review. However after watching several unboxing videos, I realized it just comes in slightly hokey-looking packaging (brown tape, loose cardboard). The incubator itself worked great, and I had a much higher hatch rate than with my nutureright 360 - even with shipped eggs. I believe this is attributed to the egg positioning in this incubator (upright instead of on side). It maintained humidity and heat well, although I wish it had a hatch countdown. Very pleased with my first use. ... show more

  • I love this incubator but.....
Brinsea is an amazing incubator and my hatch rate is always 60 to 90% on eggs that make it to lockdown. However, I don't think the auto humidity feature is worth the extra money. I have never been able to get the pump to work properly and just take care of the humidity manually. Also the egg turners are just slightly small for xlarge chicken eggs. Not a huge problem. All in all, I would happily buy another Brinsea 56, however I would save the money and get the manual humidity one that's less than$400.00. Buy a Brinsea you won't regret it and the way chicken math works, buy the biggest on you can. ... show more

  • Broken parts
I ordered this egg incubator based on reviews from blogs and websites. I had a batch of ultra-rare eggs coming in and I wanted an incubator that had humidity controls and was well constructed. First, the power source cord did not fit tightly into the incubator and kept falling out and turning it off. I contacted Amazon customer service and they did give me a credit to buy a new cord. My eggs had arrived so I needed to get started and used duct tape to secure the old cord. When it got to the point to turn on the egg rotator, the gear did not line up well with the egg tray. I tried to troubleshoot but it appears the plastic is warped and it will not sit correctly. The new cord arrived yesterday and when I plugged it in, it is still loose. The issue is the machine and not the cord. I am in the process of trying to find an incubator from a friend so I am moving my eggs and then I will return this machine. I never write reviews for purchases but I felt this one was important for the amount of money spent. If you do decide to still purchase this product, make sure you get it well in advance to test it out before your eggs arrive. There appear to be some major issues with parts. ... show more

  • I am in love with this incubator.
So easy to clean and use. No fuss at all! once it is all put together you set it and forget it. It automatically sucks up water to keep humidity stable, the turner works wonderful, and have never seen it bounce in temperature more then 0.4 degrees. My first hatch of mearns quail out of 18 eggs had 10 hatch. with how hard they are to hatch that is VERY impressive. Even more impressive because they were shipped eggs! The only issue I have is that the replacement humidity filters are a little hard to find. I would recommend buying a couple in advance if you are doing multiple hatches. ... show more

  • Set it and forget it
When we were new to the wonderful world of breeding and showing poultry a couple years ago, we went down the learning curve road, and bought the styrofoam incubator and the 360. After struggling with lots of dead chicks at lockdown, poor hatching rates, and the inability to maintain constant humidity levels, we bought one of these 56s used. It was a game changer. We tried to use the 360 as a hatcher only, but that resulted in lots of lost chicks still lost at lockdown. These are not inexpensive, but compared to my losses in shipped eggs and losing chicks from my champion birds, the cost balances out imo. We purchased a second 56 last year, and used our original one as a hatcher. We've outgrown it, and I've just ordered my third. They are so easy and reliable, and my first two hatches this year were 100%. My third hatch was 90%, and these were all test hatches from different breeding pens. We're in the thick of hatching season now, and I'm looking forward to having another to have enough room to get my eggs going and to have larger hatches all at once. ... show more
