  • Great Incubator
It doesn't include the bottle for the moisture diffusing feature, but I haven't had a need for it yet either. It doesn't seem strictly necessary anyways. That said - I also havent had a successful hatch yet so go figure! That said, I am entirely sure that's a matter of user error. But the incubator itself seems to be high quality construction for the price, and more than sufficient for some homestead hatching! ... show more

  • Get what you pay for
So I have been setting this up to use and just from set up I’m not a fan. There are afew assemble yourself pieces, but the whole concept of this design is not convenient. There’s not water bottle included to put water in, so you’ll need to find you a soda bottle. The styrofoam it comes in you’re supposed to place the incubator back in “WHEN IN USE”? Which then you can’t keep an eye on the eggs at all, just the top readings on the lid. And when you hit the 18 day mark you pretty much have to take it apart and rearrange pieces to put the bottom in and then place the eggs back in… it’s more chaotic than necessary, but if you need an incubator its worth it for the price. ... show more

  • A Reliable Incubator
This is a great incubator! It was packaged very thoughtfully, is a great size and the materials feels solid with a great weight to them. I'm very happy that the temperature (when turned on and given time to stabilize) stays constant and is reliable. All in all a great incubator for chicks! We have used it for large breed chicks, and find it very successful compared to another incubator we purchased off of Amazon. ... show more

  • Good features, reasonably priced.
This is a reasonable priced, nice features, incubator. What I like best is how it rotates and provides humidity for the eggs. Without a rooster I have to get fertilized eggs from a friend and then my one broody hen tries to hatch them. With all the other hens wanting to lay their eggs in the same nesting box any fertilized eggs are typically destroyed. This year I’m going to use this incubator and then slip the chicks in under darkness. It’s a big savings from buying chicks in the feed store and then letting the hen raise them instead of needing a brooder. The chicks integrate in to the flock much better with a protective mother. The styrofoam box provided for low temps may only last a few seasons, but it’s still a good product. ... show more

  • Doesn't include water bottle, no humidity sensor
I had high hopes for this incubator when I opened the box and saw how neatly packed and organized it was. I was a little disappointed that it had to be assembled, but it looked promising. Until I opened the manual. Whoever wrote the directions should never be allowed to write a grocery list. It says to install the rollers but not how so you have to guess at it. There's a throwaway comment about connecting something so the rollers work but it doesn't tell you what that is or how you do it. It took a few minutes to figure out that they were talking about the wires laying loose in the incubator with a white connector thing on the end. There is a white connector thing on the bottom of the cover that the wires hook up to. Also, there's a sticker that says don't toss out the styrofoam because it helps regulate the temperature. Well, there's no way to remove the bottom part of the incubator from the styrofoam unless you break it because of this big knob jutting out. I tried several ways and it wasn't budging so I finally gave up and left it. I figured the rest of the setup should go smoothly, after all its just adding water. Boy, was I wrong. First, there is no water bottle included. The directions tell you this, and say to use a water bottle. Fine, I have some, no big deal. Except, it is a big deal. A very big deal. Because, the connector for the water bottle is too big for your standard 16.9 ounce water bottle. It slips right over it but doesn't screw in. Now, I am not blessed with the ability to look at crappy directions and automatically know they are wrong. I have to try them to find it out. So, after connecting the tube to the incubator and then to the water bottle holder, I popped the connector on the water bottle, tipped it over, and as I set it all on the counter most of the water glugged right out onto the counter. I then had to scramble for towels to mop it up. Ten minutes of searching the pantry found a 16 ounce Watkins Vanilla bottle was just the right size to fit the connector. This time, I also followed the directions about putting the connector on a plate if you needed more water. Turns out that's a bad idea too. I hooked up the vanilla bottle, turned it over and set it all on the plate, and all the water gushed into the incubator in 3 big glugs. I decided to call it good and go with it. I always do a test run on a new incubator before using good eggs. I put an X on my test egg so I could tell if the egg turner was working, put it in and put the lid on. That's when I found out that the only way to tell if the egg was moving was to take the lid off. There's no way to see into the incubator because it is still covered in styrofoam that can't be removed. There's no gaps in the styrofoam so you could look through them. After all this, I expected the electronics to be just as difficult but it wasn't as bad. This comes preset for temperature and days but there is no humidity sensor. I didn't realize that or I wouldn't have got it. There's no place to put one either. I checked on the temperature frequently over 24 hours and was shocked to see it stayed at the same temperature. I didn't see any fluctuations except when I had to open it to check the test egg. The styrofoam seemed to help it stay regulated. Cleanup was a pain because now I had to disassemble the whole thing. It rinsed up easily and air dried ok as well. I don't recommend this incubator. The lack of a humidity sensor is a big issue. So is the lack of useful directions. The poor design is another problem, especially when it comes to trying to remove the incubator from the styrofoam. There are better, more functional incubators out there. ... show more

  • Nice little incubator, but could use a little redesign
good, little incubator. The only issue I have with this style is that the egg turner is not the best style. They do allow for different size eggs by changing which slot you put the rollers in. But the turner is plugged into the top, making it hard to remove the top more than a couple of inches. You do have to remove the rollers when hatching so the chicks don't get caught between them, but the inside wires concern me about chicks getting their beaks or heads trapped by curiosity. It comes with a way to hook it to a battery, in case you lose electricity while incubating. It comes with a very well explained "how to" booklet. Although it provides you will a spray bottle, it does not supply you with a bottle for the humidity inlet, and I am still looking for one that will fit. It has an alarm for if the temperature goes up or down too much. It recommends you keep the Styrofoam it comes in, to help insulate during incubation. I have not yet found a way to keep the humidity at a constant level (it seems to like keeping it at 52%, but with my waterfowl, I need it higher). It's a good emergency incubator, but it's size will limit the number of eggs you can hatch. ... show more

  • Seems to work during test run
I have been putting this incubator through a test run to determine if it works and if I can figure out how to use it correctly before buying my first set of fertilized eggs for my first flock of quail. It appears to be maintaining temperature and humidity and the directions appear sufficient to learn how to use it. However, I don't have a basis for comparison or very much experience, so until I actually hatch a flock the most I can say is that this looks doable for a beginner and I have every hope after inspecting this incubator that it will get me there. ... show more
