The inflatable dog recovery collar is a much better alternative to the traditional cone. My dog was able to eat, drink, and sleep comfortably without bumping into everything around the house. It still protected the healing area, but didn’t cause the stress or frustration that the plastic cone did. I also like that it’s lightweight, easy to inflate, and simple to clean. The only downside is that very determined dogs might still reach certain spots, but overall it made recovery much more comfortable for my pup. Definitely worth it.

I got a Medium+ for my shih tzu. He's a 18 lb shih tzu standard male height little chunky. Fits him perfect. Had to buy after his vet prescribed round the clock eye ointment. The soft cone helps prevent him from rubbing his eyes after I apply his meds. It's comfy, he can jump from furniture safely, and go up and down stairs with it on. Love this soft cone better than the regular plastic cone for him and it's cute.

I have a 7 month old GSD that just had her spay op. This donut has worked so much better than the awkward e-collar cones. She has not tried to chew or bite at it so it has held up nicely. It's easy to get on and her collar keeps it in place. The velcro is strong and it seems as durable as can be expected with something inflatable. I give 4 stars because the inflatable seems to leak down a little over time but not enough that she is able to remove it. I used the traditional e-collar cone with my older GSD and that was a nightmare. I was pleased that this donut has made this a more tolerable experience. She can eat and drink while wearing it with no problem. She wears it overnight when I can't be as diligent watching her. She uses it as a pillow when she sleeps. It's cute and works really well for keeping her from her incision. Her neck measurement fell between sizes so I went with the larger size to ensure I could inflate the donut to the max. It works!!

We absolutely love this. It is a GREAT alternative to the cone of shame (& less painful for the humans' legs too)! It has loops for her collar to slide in, which helps keep it in place, along with the velcro strap on the bottom. It has kept her from licking at her incision site, while also being a cozy little pillow for her too. It definitely is not her favorite, but it allows her to move around easily without banging into us & her brothers with the sides of the cone. It has done its job to keep her healthy & is a great value for the money! I love thisso much!! 12/10 would recommend it and would buy it again. I recommend that you measure their neck size to get the correct size for the baby!! I tried using the other one I bought for my pittie (her neck is a couple inches bigger) while waiting for hers to come in & it did not work right, lol!

This was just too big and thick for my little dog. I did read the size but it just ended up being too big after it was blown up. It does appear to be very cute but just did not work out for me. I did not return it since you really are not able to see the size unless you blow it up. I do think it would work at not letting your dog get to the area they are supposed to stay away from. I feel this would work great on a bigger dog. It was easy to put together and put on and off.

My dog had to have a lump removed about halfway up the back of her one front leg and a biopsy taken from a similar spot on the other front leg. She has no self-preservation instinct and was going to strangle herself in a regular cone so I've been looking for any alternative. A long-sleeve "recovery shirt" and this blow-up collar have worked great! I definitely wouldn't leave her unsupervised in them, but these inflatable donuts are perfect for when I want to give her skin a break from wearing a shirt. This kind is SO SOFT and fuzzy that I want one to wear as a pillow! It's easy to blow up without a pump, an XL fits her 18-19" neck perfectly, and unlike the other one I ordered, it actually has some slack in the little straps so you can get a collar secured in the middle to keep the dog from being able to push it off their head. I've had to re-inflate it slightly a couple times, but figure that's just to be expected with any inflatable device as the air inside cools and it probably can't ever seal perfectly 100%. I would get a size up if your dog's neck is towards the higher end of the listed diameter on the size chart. Much bigger than my dog and there would be a gap where the ends of the donut meet, and if that turns down by your dog's mouth, they can reach their injury and/or have a great place to start chewing on the collar. You also have to be aware of your dog's neck/snout/tongue length and location of whatever injury you're trying to protect. Dogs with longer necks or longer snouts (like my previous Husky mix) could easily reach "around" this kind of collar/cone to get to their back legs, midway up their front legs, probably even their belly like for a spay incision. My dog has a short muscular pittie-mix neck and her stitches are far enough up/behind her front legs that it's not a problem for me. If you're not sure and can, like for a scheduled surgery, get one early and do a test. Put it on your dog and use a treat or toy or something to try to lure them around to the spot. If they can reach it, or come close, this is not the cone for you. There's a reason vets still recommend using the plastic cone of shame, no matter how uncomfortable or inconvenient it might be. My reason for taking off a star is that the "ends" of the inflatable piece (where the gap is to get your dog's head through it) are significantly more narrow than the rest. Even with the ends strapped tightly against each other, there's a divot or smaller-diameter spot where they meet. The other one I got has the cover so tight I can't get a collar through the straps, but it's inflatable piece is molded such that the two ends meet almost square and don't leave a big divot in the protective donut. If you're not going to watch your dog while in this collar, it could easily slide around and they could use the more narrow spot to reach their injury or chew it up. I'd still recommend it but not for unsupervised use. Also, I ordered this as a used item from the manufacturer (seller IEUUMLER) and it saved me about half the "new" price and arrived looking brand new! No dirt, no damage, not even a hair like anyone had tried it on their dog. Don't hesitate to buy if one is available!
