The condo we rented for a week had a countertop ice maker and it was handy and kept us in ice with minimum effort, so when I saw this AIRTOK Countertop Ice Maker thought I would give it a try. Although this is a nice looking unit, I noticed right out of the box it was going to be difficult to keep looking nice, it attracts finger prints. I read the instructions manual, if it was a school project to write, I would give it a D, gives enough info to let you know it is for this ice maker, that’s it. The product description boasts a “Reservation” function, I have yet to figure out how to use it. The control panel has red numbers, I’m assuming for the “Reservation” function that just does not make sense, is it how many hours, is it how long before it dumps, is it how many batches, the numbers are all over the place when it is working. My process to begin using included, after removing the shipping tape and washing the scoop and basket in warm soapy water, I wiped down the inside with diluted vinegar and let it run through a couple baskets of ice, ran the cleaning mode and changed the water. This also allowed me to get a feel for how it was going to work. Every 7-9 minutes it dumps 9 ice cubes, about 90 minutes to fill the basket, it made two baskets of ice before needing more water. The cleaning function is quick and the display did count down the cycles. I have left the ice maker on for several days now, overnight and while we weren’t home so no ice was being used. The basket fills and it goes into standby mode, the ice then melts, the leftover cubes stick together and the water goes back in reservoir, at which point you have to remove the clump or break it up for the ice maker to begin making ice again. In the future, I will bag the cubes or just use the ice maker when I know we need the extra ice. This ice maker is really no noisier than the refrigerator ice maker, you can hear it working and dumping but can just ignore it. If you have limited counter space, this does take up quite a bit of room, it needs to be set out from the walls for ventilation. The unit runs warm and the fan puts out a lot of air. I set mine near the sink for ease in water filling. Overall, for the price, I believe this is a useable option when you need extra ice. Possibly if the user manual was more comprehensive or when I can figure out the timer functions, I would like this unit a bit more.

This is my first time to have an ice machine so I have not quite figured out all the ins and outs, timers, reservations,, all the features and functions it offers. I was able to make the ice cubes which is the most important thing by following simple instructions. I am still not able to make the smaller cubes and I am on my second day.of using it. I am glad it stops or pauses when the basket where the ice falls is full. I tried it overnight and it was just fine except, of course, the ones done started melting. However, it will not spill as it goes back into the reservoir. The screen showed 8 min to make the first 8 cubes and another 8 minutes to do the next. A little slow for me but having this back up ice maker especially when you have an event is convenient. The compressor is a little noisy for my liking. I placed it by the sink so that disaster is averted should it start leaking or whatever goes wrong. The one thing I don't like about it is that the release valve for the water is at the bottom. I hate tipping it up if I am finished emptying out the water. Could it be in a more convenient place that is easy to see??? When I made the ice cubes, I empty out the basket in zip lock bags and put them in the freezer. It melts right away if you keep them in the basket for too long and then it gets stuck to each other although they are easy to separate.. There are some other flashing timers or counters that I have not fully explored which will probably be an update later.
