I bought this as a gift for my N laws. They went to Sonic and bought ice most weeks. No more. It produces plenty of ice for the 2 of them and if they know they are having company can bag it up. Our refrigerator ice maker made the ice smell terrible. Stopped using that one and hated not having ice. We purchased this one with the hopes of finally having ice in our drinks and it did not disappoint. Leave it running for a few hours and fills and you will have enough ice for a week. Had this ice maker for about 3 weeks. It works well and is pretty quiet. It, obviously, makes some noise when it dumps the ice into the hopper. The ice in the hopper will stay frozen for a while but you will want to empty the hopper periodically.
