I purchased for a 75ga tank wanting a small bit of water movement. However the unit is quite noise and has a vibration that can be felt in the glass on the aquarium, I like this brand however this product was a let down **EDIT** Unit was replaced and the new unit is quiet and almost no vibration can be felt. This one also seems to have increased flow. Hygger makes quality stuff we have stuff from lights to cleaning and all have been awesome ... show more

This pump has been running about a year - no trouble. Reasonably quiet, plenty of current for my needs (75g reef with other pumps) 1 bad point - If the power goes off it may start in reverse and make a terrible noise. Unplug and replug and it's fine. Thus 4 not 5 stars.

The media could not be loaded. Perfect for my 26 Gallon planted tank to circulate water when CO2 injection is running. Great magnetic mount. Only issue is that it comes set in reverse with no clear instructions how to switch it. So it was sucking water in and shooting out the sides. There is a small white clip on the front that you need to slide towards the back to reverse the action. Overall an excellent wave maker that is small enough to not be an eye sore. ... show more

    • No redeeming qualities

Even for a cheap pump this is bad. I bought it because it was advertised as a “wave maker” thinking it would automatically vary the pump speed and help create natural water flow in my salt tank but it doesn’t. It’s just a single speed pump which is my fault for taking “wave maker” at face value but my bad, maybe it has other good features. It doesn’t. I got it for my 15gal pico reef and it’s like a tsunami when I turn the pump on. My BTA across the tank has its poor tentacles pinned to its side and the fish start swimming for their lives just to stay in place. No matter, the pump has adjustable flow… allegedly. It doesn’t vary the speed of the motor, there’s a collar you slide to make the turbine more or less efficient at moving water. Needless to say, moving the collar has no appreciable effect in my 15gal. Well, at least I can use it as a mixing pump. It was a little noisier than I wanted anyway and the magnet makes it easy to stick in a bucket and direct the flow nicely. After only a few weeks of using it a couple times in the bucket, the turbine stopped spinning. It also started tripping the GFCI it was plugged into. Maybe it was due for a cleaning after only owning it for 2 weeks. I popped it apart but the clips were so tight I had to force it open and ended up snapping the ceramic shaft. Overall, way more powerful than advertised, doesn’t deliver on any of the advertised features, crappy to clean, and unreliable electrics. Do not buy this pump. ... show more

    • Very low flow. Suitable for 12 gallon tank or less.

Pretty weak. I thought based on the flow advertised that it would be too much for my jbj 28. It barely moves any water. This might be suitable for a jbj 12. . Otherwise you'd need 2 of them. But not worth using 2 of these to compensate. Which I would've went another route.
