I got this after the one I bought for $65 quit after 2 months. I am heating a 55g and had a heater om both sides. I was able to take out the other heater because somehow this heats the 55g long tank perfectly! It has a 1 yr warranty which is mainly why I bought it but it is amazing. It has auto shut off so if you forger (which I always do) to turn it off for a water change it doesn't hurt it and it heats the new water in under 5min! Best heater ever!!!!! I purchased this heater in November 2023. In March 2024 the heater was malfunctioning and the overheat alarm was going off.     • Life saver for my tank!

Had an older glass heater go out and my tank dropped from 80 to 68. We purchased a Fluval from petsmart after driving 2 hours to the nearest store on a sunday. It was a 300W heater and rated for my 75G tank, however it never was able to get higher than 74.5 degrees. I ordered this heater because they didn't have a larger one at petsmart and it came in 2 days. it was able to get the tank up to 80 in just a few hours. I like that the gage is easy to read and has a ring that alerts you to the temp conditions as it's heating up. Even displays the watts it's using. The temp on the gage and my tank thermometer are within a couple of points of each other. This thing is working flawlessly and looks great as well. This is a very good and top performing heater. It has a digital LED display controller with a nicely designed UI displaying the current tank temperature, pre-set temperature, heater on red circling border indicator, power consumption and a low water alarm. It warms up the water in my 100 gallon quarantine tank pretty efficiently and keeps the temperature steady at the pre-set temperature. As the instructions warned, make sure there is good water circulation in the tank when using this heater, otherwise it may end up making chowder! Since hot water stays on the top and cold water sinks to the bottom, if there is no water circulation from bottom to top or vice versa, the heater placed in the bottom would continuously heat the water to a much higher temperature than the one pre-set. The only one issue that I have with this heater is the operating temperature range, which is factory set to 59 - 95. While most people would find this range is more than adequate, however, it falls short for my application. I want to graduately lower the temperature from 72F to match that in the outside pond which is about 36F in the winter, so that the quarantineed kois can be released in the pond. Now plan B is needed! ... show more

Have 3 800w now I prefer a size bigger than needed most heaters last longer if not overtaxed 1 is perfect for my 120 gallon (always have a backup Fishkeeping 101) great temp control rock solid suction harness and controller cradle easy to set and adjust with external controls audible alarm for power failure and out of range temp power cord is heavy duty and long enough for large and tall tanks great for larger fish they've tried and tried but can't move it. Very durable and value is great. Our animals love the managed heat for its accuracy and safety. There was an issue with our heater but the replacement has was sent in to us and working great again.

    • Failed too soon (update)

Bought this in July 2023. Failed in January 2024. At first, I was very pleased with this 1000-watt heater. Performed as advertised. I bought it to use in a 105-gallon saltwater mixing tank. Heated the water quickly and maintained the temperature very well. Then about 2 weeks ago, I noticed my water getting too warm, and occasionally, the high temp alarm sounding. Now the heater continuously shows "LL", and the heater never shuts off. I thought I was so impressed with this heater that I bought a second one in October 2023 for my hospital tank. I will certainly be keeping very close tabs on this one so as not to cook any expensive fish. I will write a new review on the second heater accordingly. So far so good on the second heater. I must say that Hygger reached out to me and offered me a replacement or full refund. As such, I will upgrade my review to four stars for customer service alone. Hopefully this was an anomaly and my second heater will continue working as advertised. ... show more
