  • No adapter - resolved
Size: 42W for 48~54inch Tank
It's a very pretty light fixture, but I have no idea how well it works because there is no adapter in the box. I immediately contacted the seller and will edit this review when and if I can actually get power to the light fixture. Edit: The seller replied the same day and is shipping me an adapter with no additional cost or hassle. I will edit again when it arrives, hopefully to review the how well or poor the fixture operates. Edit: The adapter was delivered as promised, and the light was pleasantly surprising. It is much brighter than I expected. The timers, including the 24 hour simulation, work great. I am having no issues with excess heat from the power supply like some others have reported. This is a great fixture, and even better when considering the price tag as compared with similar aquarium lights with timers. I look forward to seeing my plants thrive. One year update: I had it set on the daylight simulation mode for a year. The bad thing about that is I stopped paying attention to its operation. I started to get horrible algae problems, then finally realized that the simulation mode is malfunctioning. The orange light from 6 am to 8 am is more often bright white light instead, and only sometimes the milder, less intensive orange. The bright white light stays on until 8 pm, at which point it turns blue until the end of the cycle. That's 14 hours of bright white light, which is 4 hours too many. I cannot adjust any of it in the simulation mode, so I'm now trying to decide if I want to put the light on a timer, but if I do so many of the nice features of the light, like the orange in the morning, the changing intensity during the day, and the blue at night, will be useless. My advice - Do not set it and forget it. If you use the simulation mode make sure you pay attention, or you're liable to get bad algae issues and stressed fish. ... show more

  • Best Light and Customer Service Ever! Best Light and Customer Service Ever!
Size: 26W for 30~36inch Tank
December 2023: My Hygger Light failed, but Hygger jumped right in and made it right! My light failed a couple of months after putting it into service. I contacted Hygger through Amazon and I very quickly got a response directly from Hygger. Within about a 2 week period I have a new fixture in hand and without having to repack the bad fixture and send it back. Hygger’s only requested that I send a short video failed fixture. Seemed just a little strange when the fixture would not light, but I did as asked and with the light plugged in I went through the process of multiple presses on each button to show function failure. I sent this in and very quickly sent a new fixture. I had previously owned another brand that only made it through about a year, but never came close to the superior illumination from the Hygger fixture. I only used the 24/7 function will allowed me to schedule a Sunrise and Sunset process to create a more real life environment for my critters. For me, this Hygger light fixture is the best illumination and the best Customer Service. Previous Post: Yep, this has to be the best light I have ever owned for an aquarium. Pro: Illumination is outstanding and does a great job lighting the tank front to rear and sided to side on my 53 Gal. Corner Tank. Pro: Seems to be excellent for growing plants, but I do add a cap full of fertilizer every other month. Pro: Fish and plant colors are also great. Con: Working with the timer to set up light cycles as if it were a real solar day is a little challenging. Con: Once the solar cycle has been set to where I want it, there is no battery backup for power outages and I have to start over with getting up early in the morning to reset. Not Me: Having options of choosing different color spectrums like just red or blue or green is not a part of my world and has no value. If I had a restaurant or bar, then these might be decorative. Now I would still have to reset again to make sure the plants and fish have the proper lighting to stay healthy until the next night. ... show more

  • Good with a couple issues
Size: 18W for 18~24inch Tank
Quality construction. Easy to set up (I have it on the auto 24-hour setting). The light is bright and I really like the dawn / day / night gradual light changes. No more startling the fish with the sudden on/off. I bought two smaller ones for 10 gallon tanks. The brackets on one aren't exactly square so it doesn't fit the tank quite as well as the other one. Not a big enough issue to return it. I've only had them a few weeks but so far so good. Time will tell. I ordered a third one for a larger tank. Update after owning them for a year. I still like them but have found some downsides. There are two light setting modes. One allows you to set the light color, intensity, and duration (6, 10, or 12 hours). In this mode, the light gradually turns on, stays on for a set period of time, and gradually turns off. The is the mode I'm using now. My only complaint here is there is no 8 hour duration option. The second mode is what I was originally looking for. The light gradually turns on with orange/red light to mimic sunrise, and gradually turns off with blue light to mimic sunset/night. The problem is the daylight stays on at full intensity for too long (something like 15-16 hours). You can't adjust anything in this second mode. It is what it is. It turned out to be way too much light and I constantly had algae problems. Gave up and switched to mode one. It would be great if they could combine the two modes and give the user a little more flexibility. Good luck. ... show more

  • Automated Perfectly, Bit of a Loose Fit. Automated Perfectly, Bit of a Loose Fit.
Size: 18W for 18~24inch Tank
It works really well. It has two adjustable height modes onto my 10 gallon tank which is ~20 inches long. 24/7 mode makes me not have to worry about the tank's lighting at all. To expand on the fit, you may be a little careful as the outer legs that extend don't really "lock" or have any friction when expanding or retracting them. Meaning if you move the light a little bit you risk off-centering it. The light stays a consistent brightness and seems to be designed very well with waterproofing in mind (of course) and the top of it is pretty sleek too. You can move it forward and back along your tank easily too. Fits nice. There are also timer modes and adjustable brightness. One other to mention is the RGB mode where it cycles through colors, but I wouldn't recommend using that mode for your fish or plants. ... show more

  • Great lights for an even greater price.
Size: 26W for 30~36inch Tank
I was told about these lights by a fish store owner. I thought they can’t be too great at that price, but the idea of lights that simulated the lighting throughout the day made me decide to give them a try. These lights are fantastic and I can see a difference in my heavily planted tank and my fishes overall activity. The options using the remote is a plus. I love the changing lights throughout the day from the orange of sunrise to the blue of late evening. I didn’t know the name Hygger before, but I will remember it for future lights. Very pleased. ... show more

  • This light is awesome!! This light is awesome!!
Size: 42W for 48~54inch Tank
I have been getting hammered by Hygger ads on Facebook and took a chance on this light. My aquarium lighting setup was 2 separate aquairum lights on wifi timers. This light is some much better than what I had. The 24/7 setting is awesome. It starts at 6am with a "sunrise" and ends with "sunset" and "night". Lights go off between 10:30pm and 6am. ... show more

  • Set it and leave it Set it and leave it
Size: 26W for 30~36inch Tank
I just want to start off by saying, I've been very happy with all the products that I have purchased from Hygger. My previous purchase was an aquarium air pump. I have bought plenty of air pumps, and by far it has been the quietest air pump I've have ever purchased. Anyway, back to the lights. I have 2 26w and 1 14w. I use the 2 26w fixtures for my 100-gallon red eared sliders turtle tank and I use the 14w for the 20-gallon basking area for my sliders. I like that you can set it and forget it. I know some people have expressed that the controller is confusing. I would say if you read the directions a couple of times, it would probably make sense to you. Also, some have expressed if you have a power outage you have to reprogram the lights. I can see how that might be a pain. I have not tried yet myself, but maybe consider placing your light fixtures on a UPS. Especially if you have more than 1. If your power outage is shorter than the battery life, you shouldn't need to reset it. I have used more expensive led light fixtures that did not have any of these features. The light quality is beautiful. I really like the 24/7 feature. I like how it simulates the natural light cycle. I feel and hope that my turtles like it and benefit from them as much as I do. Update: WARNING! I have 3 of these lights which I purchased in November of 2021, so I have had them for almost 3 years with no problems. I absolutely love these lights. Please heed the manufacturers warning about not getting the controller wet. Today I was topping off my turtle tank with a couple of buckets of water, and accidentally spilled some water over the back of the tank. I did not realize I got the controller wet. About 15 minutes later my 1 unit was no longer working and I knew right away what I must have done. I can't be upset with the manufacturer, as they clearly have marked on the back of the controller not to get it wet. I love these lights so much that I immediately purchased a new one today. I must say that these lights are so reasonably priced that I would be willing to pay at least $10 more for these lights if it meant they could improve on the controller to make it waterproof. My plans going forward is to purchase a small tube of silicone to close up both side seams and where the wire enters and exits the controller. Very small investment to keep the controller water proof or resistant. ... show more
