I have heated my home in Colorado exclusively with wood for 50 years, so I'm an experienced operator. I have owned the same professional Husky gas chainsaw for 27 years. More than half of my saw time is spent limbing the trees and cutting the branches into pieces small enough to lay down on the forest floor. So, as I got older, using the gas saw all the time was taxing. This saw is a perfect mate with the gas saw. Starts real easily, much quieter than the gas saw, doesn't lose power at altitude, and is much lighter. I would say it cuts about as fast as a 50 cc gas saw. It runs at full power until the battery is dead, which is longer than I need. Now the whining: The no-tool chain tightening "feature" common on consumer saws is some ad-wizard's idea to make a cost-cutting design seem like a good idea. Whenever you take the bar off (to clean the bar and flip it over), the tightening pin is in the cover and hidden from view. It takes some fiddling around to make sure the pin is correctly into the bar before you tighten the cover. Who goes out cutting without gas, oil, and a couple tools for field repairs? The included charger only puts out 1 amp, so a full recharge takes 6-7 hours. The pro saws (models ending in "XP") are really nice but cost 3 times as much! ... show more

    • Great machine for the backyard logger

A fine addition for the backyard logger: It's so much simpler than messing around with gas powered saws. The battery lasts about as long as I do. An hour or so of cutting stuff is enough for me...and the battery. Be ready for a nice long break because it takes at least 4 hours to recharge. For that reason, Paul Bunyon types should have a spare battery. As to performance, this saw is a very close match to the 18" Stihl gas powered saw I have, yet somewhat lighter and less fatiguing...no gas oil mix to mess with...no hassle of testing your muscles getting it started...the chain can be tightened or changed without bringing your tool kit along. You do have to remember to refill the chain-oiler tank. I've used this saw for about a month and would recommend it for the average "backyard logger" who needs to cut up fallen branches or trees or for working up your winter firewood supply on a leisurely schedule. I'd suggest getting a couple of extra chains if you don't want to mess around with filing dull chains and can afford the convenience of changing rather than sharpening. Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed using this saw. If, on the other hand, you are a serious woodsman who spends a substantial amount of time every day cutting up trees, this electric saw will be a huge disappointment. It's marginally less powerful than the gas-powered Stihl and you will need 3 or 4 extra batteries and a power source to charge them. At $185 per battery that's not a great solution...stick with your Stihl. ... show more

Powerful. Cuts good. Battery life is acceptable. Ergonomics is also acceptable - although balance somewhat awkward. But then it depends on what the user is accustomed to. Also this saw (with battery) is heavier than a gas chainsaw with equivalent power. It is quieter, so you will annoy the neighbors less. Battery is a tight fit, as it should be, but can be difficult to remove with my old arthritic fingers. Fit and finish, build quality, as with most Husqvarna products, is excellent. I also appreciate that it's not a hot, combustible gas burning beast when it's the end of summer and the whole world is a tinderbox! Yes you can still throw a spark, but it just feels much safer ... ... show more

    • Decent saw, terrible battery

I just purchased the Power Axe 350i chainsaw on Amazon for $479.99, and the saw is fine, but the battery is a disgrace. The fully charged battery did not even last one hour of operating the tool, so I thought I would quickly recharge the battery and finish the job later. I put the battery on the charger at about 2:30 pm, and at 9:00 pm the battery was still charging, so I did not finish the simple job of cutting a few logs that day. The battery came in a dirty, dusty, opened box, but appeared to be unused. The year of manufacturing on the box states 2023, so the battery at the time of purchase in April 2025, could have already been 2 years old. I also bought a Husqvarna battery operated hedge trimmer, and intended to buy more battery Husqvarna tools, such as string trimmer, leave blower and lawn mower, but instead I will just return the unused hedge trimmer and stay away from Husqvarna brand. Since the battery only lasts about an hour, and then it takes more than 6 hours to recharge it, Husqvarna should be unconditionally offering an extra battery with every tool at no extra cost. ... show more

This is a good homeowner 18” chain saw. Cuts very well and is lightweight. My only negatives are that if trying to cut tree trunks in fire wood length I overheated the battery and it then took a couple hours to cool enough to recharge. If liming trees or cutting 12” trunks that probably wouldn’t be an issue. Has plenty of power for most work. Reviews for other brand chainsaws also mention the battery cool down issue so it is typical of this size battery chain saws. Oil is easy to fill and the sight window is a great feature along with tool less chain adjustment ... show more
