  • Budget midsized grill that meets basic grilling needs.
When I ordered the grill, it was a new listing, there was only one photo, and the listing info said it had a side burner. The grill I received does not have a side burner. They have since fleshed out the listing info so that you can see it does not. I find it irritating when I see a bunch of glowing reviews from people who, based on their photos, haven't even assembled the grill yet. My review was written AFTER I assembled and used the grill. Based on the listing cooking area claim, this is a mid-sized grill. Much of the exterior of the grill looks to be powder coated. I would have preferred the side tables to be stainless steel. The side tables are also on the small side. The frame thickness is ok, but it would have been nice to be a little thicker. All signs that this grill falls into the 'budget' class of grills. Assembly: It took a few minutes to unbox the grill and arrange the parts in preparation for assembly. It wasn't difficult to assemble solo and not very heavy. I didn't time how long it took, but it took a while. Anyone that says they did it in 20 mins is not telling the truth. The parts went together well and I didn't have any real connection issues. Some assembly points to mention include: 1. The casters didn't include a thin wrench to tighten them. The nuts might be 17mm, but I didn't have a thin wrench in that size, so I carefully tightened them by grabbing the top bearing assembly with Channel Lock pliers. 2. Step 6, putting the doors on, I removed the bottom bolts of part # 12 to flex that piece enough to get the door pins in place and then replaced and tightened the bolts. 3. Step 9 Part "D" hooks can tighten with a 6.0 metric Allen wrench. You may get by with hand tightening them, but I like to be sure they won't come off. The grease pan was an add-on with my grill. It wasn't included in the main instructions but was included in the box with its own instructions. This grill has porcelain-enameled steel grates, so you probably want to avoid using a steel wire brush on it. Porcelain-enameled coating is usually reasonable to clean when it's new, but it can scratch easily and then it isn't so easy to clean. If the rest of the grill holds up, I may just swap out the grates for stainless steel ones. Another future upgrade would be the casters. They're functional but not wonderful. Part #16, is that considered a condiment shelf? Is so, it is mounted too low to be useful. I haven't figure a use for that shelf yet. Tank placement: you will want to place the tank next to the grill. I've had other grills where I installed it under the grill behind the doors, but the space is just too tight on this HUGROVE grill. It is difficult to get the tank under the grill and not practical to use it there. The shelf is rather flimsy and I wouldn't trust it with a full tank. Additionally it would be difficult to reach the shut off. Easier to just put the tank next to the grill. I washed the grates and top shelf and then fired the grill for 30 mins and wiped the grates/shelf down again before the first use. The burners have fired on the first click each time so far. The grill heats up pretty quickly. It will get over 600F (based on the lid thermometer) in just a few minutes. The cooking area is ok, but not expansive. The included photos show 5oz burger patties. With tighter placement, I might have gotten 8 of them on there. First few uses the grates haven't been bad to clean. I try to wipe them down while they're still hot and then when cooled off I take them in and soak them. I'm not scraping them with anything. Value wise the grill was priced around $215 when I ordered it. That is about ballpark price for a budget grill of this size. Durability remains to be seen and is frequently the weak point of budget grills. ... show more

  • Nice grill, works good, a lot of pieces but very clearly marked, good instructions
This large grill is working fine after a few little hiccups, probably mostly user error. This has a LOT of pieces so don't be intimidated when you finally get it all unpacked, and it's packed very, very well. Luckily, the manufacturer did a great job in labeling each and every piece and having good instructions. The hardware is all neatly packaged and labeled as well, with a couple extra parts. You do get the hose and regulator for the propane tank, too. It suggest two people to put it together and I'd agree that is much easier and quicker, but I had only myself and it did take a while but it goes together quite well as each piece, while lightweight sheet metal, fits perfectly. The brass threaded inserts for the screws are very good quality and placed perfectly making it easy to fit and screw in. Side tables are made to easily lift up a bit and drop down to the sides which is quite nice. The casters are large which is great and they each have a lock, just make sure to turn the wheel a bit so you get the handle pushed all the way into lock position. I used it yesterday to bake bread in as it was just too hot to run the oven inside and it did really good. It is a bit tricky to keep the temp at a steady degree but that's to be expected with it's design and intended uses. The only problem I had was hooking the line to my propane tank. Our tank has a long nozzle, (Is that what you call it?), and it has inside threads and outside threads. The provided hose uses the outside threads and the nozzle on the hose doesn't seem to be quite long enough to reach far enough in to release the gas. After trying it for the third time I pushed hard enough and turned the handle tight enough for it to work. I don't think all tanks have quite this set up so yours might work easier. That said, I did get it working and the burners all light fine. I considered giving only four stars just because it is fairly lightweight, but the price probably reflects that, and I don't care for plastic knobs since they do get pretty warm, but they held up fine using it so that might be a moot point. Having four burners makes it easy to cook a little or a lot and use direct or indirect heat for your cooking. The upper tray can be used for warming or for slower cooking for veggies, etc. It's really a pretty nice grill and the way the parts were clearly numbered, well packed, and good instructions I'd say it's well worth the price and should last at least several years. ... show more

  • GREAT starter grill
We are still figuring out what we ultimately want in a grill, so I wouldn’t say this is our absolute dream grill, but it has been a REALLY good starter grill while we figure that out. For context, we have been grilling on a charcoal grill that is approximately two feet tall and is really probably meant for tailgating or camping (not feeding the whole family during fight night). Everyone who comes over makes fun of us for it (like literally the moment anyone looks out onto the patio, they let out the loudest guffaw over it), so moving to an actual four-burner propane grill with 459 square inches of cooking space feels like we have entered a completely different tax bracket of backyard cooking. I really like having four burners because we can actually control different areas of the grill instead of throwing everything over some charcoal and having a mental breakdown when the charcoal and, subsequently, the flame, is concentrated in one spot (okay, maybe I'm the only one that struggles with this). The fold-down side tables give us actual prep space, there’s a warming area, the propane tank is tucked inside the cabinet, and it has wheels so we can move it around when needed. Is this the grill we’ll still be using 15 years from now after we’ve developed extremely strong opinions about burners and searing zones? Who knows (honestly, probably not)). But as our first “real” grill, it feels like a HUGE upgrade without requiring us to spend a fortune before we even know what features we care about. ... show more

  • Great grill that has handled everything I’ve cooked on it
I’ve used this grill several times now and I’ve been really happy with how it cooks. The first time I used it, I made chicken and also heated up some frozen sausage patties with cheese. Both turned out great, and since then I’ve cooked ribs and corn on the cob on it as well. Everything has cooked nicely and had really good flavor. The four burners give you plenty of room to adjust the heat depending on what you are making. I like being able to keep one side hotter while using another section at a lower temperature. That came in handy when cooking different foods at the same time. The cooking area is also a good size. I was able to fit several large pieces of chicken on it without everything feeling crowded. I also like having the upper rack inside. It gives you some extra space for keeping food warm or cooking something a little farther away from the direct heat. The side shelves are useful too since they give you somewhere to set plates, seasonings, or utensils while cooking. The cabinet underneath is another nice feature. A standard propane tank fits inside, which keeps everything looking cleaner instead of having the tank sitting out next to the grill. The doors make it easy to get to the tank when needed. The wheels are helpful as well because the grill can be moved around without too much trouble. It feels pretty sturdy once everything is put together, and the temperature gauge on the lid is nice to have when you are cooking something like ribs and want to keep an eye on the heat without constantly opening the lid. So far I really do not have much to complain about with it. It is not a huge grill, so someone cooking for a really large group might want something bigger, but for regular family cooking there is plenty of room. After using it for chicken, sausage patties, ribs, and corn on the cob, I’ve been impressed with how well everything has turned out. It has quickly become something we use pretty regularly when the weather is nice. ... show more

  • Easy to assemble with great results — can't see myself going back to charcoal
Assembly was easy — about 90 minutes total, with clearly numbered parts, mostly matching screws, and good diagrams. The only thing that confused me was the propane tank cutout at the bottom of the cabinet isn't shown in the assembly diagram, though it's still correctly labeled with the right part number, so it was a minor issue at most. One safety note: though they kindly included a wire grill scrubber, I threw it away because those wires can dislodge onto the grill, get into your food, and perforate your intestines. Better to scrape your grill with a long wood spatula. Setup is simple: once assembled, wheel it outside, attach the propane tank with the included hose, and do a soapy-water leak check. You’re supposed to tighten the hose connection by hand, but this left a noticeable leak (large bubbles during the check), so you may need to really put your arm into it. Performance has been excellent. All four burners lit immediately, and the grill hit 500°F within minutes with the lid closed. Be sure to rub a little bit of oil using a paper towel on the grill top and also on the warmer plate that sits above the grill top so that your food doesn't stick. I've grilled burgers, corn, and large portobellos with great results, and temperature control is noticeably better than my longtime charcoal kettle grill — just dial the burners to hit exactly the heat you want. My spouse called these the best burgers I've ever grilled. One thing to keep in mind: it runs hotter toward the center and the back of the grill, so plan food placement accordingly. Overall, I'm very happy with this grill — it’s easy to assemble, has excellent temperature control, and the fold-down side trays make it compact when not in use. After experiencing how easy it was to grill on this, I can’t imagine going back to charcoal. ... show more

  • powerful heat for medium size grill, some hot and cool spots
We found it relatively easy to assemble this lightweight Hugrove 4-Burner 40,000 BTU Propane Gas Grill, with all the parts well marked and good-quality instructions. The four 10,000 BTU burners are plenty powerful to really heat up the grill. On our first cook with some hotdogs, we found some definite hot spots in the center between the burners when turned on the highest setting, while the front area was decidedly cooler. Once we learned the best settings, and let the grill heat up for a while before starting to cook, we've had good results using this medium-size grill for burgers and hot dogs. Our next cook on the grill was slow roasting. Turning the two left side burners on medium low setting, we placed a small pork roast in a pan on the right side to bake slowly using indirect heat for four hours, with good results. The built-in thermometer seemed to offer fairly accurate readings during this cook. Our goal was to keep the temperature in the 250F range and we found the settings to get it pretty close. The upper rack is well design to keep food warm, and we like it for warming up and toasting our buns. The large drip pan catches grease for easy removal, keeping odors to a minimum between cooking sessions. The side tables are a good asset for holding plates of meat, cheese and utensils. They fold down to save room when not needed. The internal propane tank holder is a nice option, but we usually leave the tank out for easier access, making sure to turn it off at the tank valve when not in use. This is a fairly good grill with good features, especially for it's size and lightweight quality of the main parts. For those that don't mind the assembly process, it's a good value. ... show more

  • Nothing Fancy—Just a Good Backyard Grill That Does the Job
This is a nice backyard grill and pretty much exactly what we were looking for. We definitely needed a new grill, and the size was one of the main reasons we chose this one. With four burners and 459 square inches of cooking area, it gives us plenty of room without having an enormous grill taking over the backyard. I really like the side tables. Having that extra workspace right next to the cooking area makes grilling so much easier when you have plates, utensils, seasonings, or food waiting to go on the grill. The fact that the tables fold down is also a nice feature when you want to reduce the overall footprint between uses. The warming rack is another feature I appreciate. When you are cooking several different things that do not finish at exactly the same time, you can move the finished food up to the warming rack while everything else continues cooking. Nobody wants a perfectly cooked burger getting cold while waiting for the rest of dinner! We did not attach the wheel brakes because, for our setup, they seemed like they would be more in the way than useful. The grill is working perfectly fine for us without them. As far as cooking performance, so far, so good. The burgers came out great, and kabobs are next on the menu this weekend. I cannot say that I have discovered anything extraordinarily different about this grill compared with other four-burner propane grills—it simply does what a grill is supposed to do, and it does it well. I am not completely up to date on what every comparable grill costs nowadays, but a few hundred dollars seems to be fairly typical for this general style and size. For us, the decision was less about bells and whistles and more about getting the right size, four burners, useful side shelves, and a warming rack. Sometimes you do not need extraordinary—you just need a good grill that fits your space, gives you enough cooking room, and makes a great burger. This one checks those boxes for us! ... show more

  • Powerful and Flexible Grilling for Family Cookouts
What attracts me most about this HUGROVE four-burner propane grill is its 40,000 BTU total heat output and four burners, which can satisfy everyday family grilling needs as well as conveniently handle multiple ingredients simultaneously during gatherings with friends. The four combustion zones can be adjusted as needed, eliminating the need to use the same temperature for all foods. Different zones can be assigned for grilling hamburgers, sausages, and vegetables, and when there are fewer ingredients, only the burners needed can be turned on, offering more flexibility than a single large heat zone. Propane gas eliminates the hassle of preparing charcoal and cleaning up large amounts of ash, allowing for quicker start-up and straightforward gas shut-off. I particularly appreciate this design that combines heat output and ease of use; whether grilling a few pieces of meat or preparing food for the whole family, there is ample room for adjustment. For initial assembly, follow the instructions step-by-step. Before use, check the hoses, pressure regulator, and gas connection, and perform a leak test with soapy water; do not use an open flame. The grill must be placed in a well-ventilated outdoor area, away from walls, eaves, and flammable materials, and should not be used in garages or enclosed spaces. Cleaning the grill and grease buildup areas promptly after cooking reduces the risk of fire during the next use. Regularly check the burner holes for blockages. This grill's four-burner layout and 40,000 BTU heat perfectly meet my needs, providing ample cooking power and allowing for flexible zoning for different ingredients. Using propane also makes preparation and cleanup easier. As long as it's assembled correctly according to the instructions and gas safety is prioritized, it's a practical appliance suitable for family outdoor barbecues and parties. ... show more
