  • Great gaming computer.
I bought this for my 13 year old son to play minecraft and other such games on. It works great. Gaming seems to work great. The only problem with it was the keyboard they send with it! It was a tiny cheap keyboard not made for gaming. Why would you send a cheap regular keyboard with a gaming computer. I would have paid a little more to actually receive a gaming keyboard and mouse with a gaming computer...... But, at least the gaming keyboard with mouse are reasonably priced. The computer for the price and functionality is still worth the money. ... show more

  • NOT VR READY, BOX OF JUNK
This thing has had me pulling my hair out since i got it. i wasnt even able to run the compatibility tool for oculus without it crashing, let alone the actual oculus app. after 2 days of trying to get the oculus app to even download it finally opened, just to close immediately and not open back up. I tried every fix i could possibly find or think of, and upon the suggestion of the vr community, i am returning this pile of junk, because its just way more headache than its worth. HUGE let down considering i got it specifically for vr. aside from that issue, it runs okay, its very slow at times and has a hard time loading youtube videos. every once in a while it flashes a black screen which is very annoying. The tower itself is loud and occasionally makes grinding noises. do not buy, its seriously not worth the trouble Edit: taking a star away because I went to factory reset it for return, but it will not reapond to my keyboard or mouse. Unplugged them and plugged them back in, still nothing. I cannot stress enough how bad this computer actually is. I'm using a shitty old laptop that's literally falling apart and it still runs better than this thing ... show more

  • Great starter gaming PC
First off let me start out by saying if people say this isn’t a gaming PC they are idiots!!! This is a great pc for the price. The RX580 is a really good entry level graphics card. I play most everything on high graphics PUBG, planetside 2, fortnite etc. It will play what ever you want. I would however upgrade the ram. With all the bloat ware that Hp puts on there stuff it maxes out the 8gbs of RAM. P.S. I bought this PC on amazon sale day for about 480. Price the parts of the pc on pcpartpicker.com and just try to come close to this price. ... show more

  • Great value but bad hardware configuration
The specification of this computer on paper looks great for it price. The way the company has configures the system is heavily restricting the performance potential of the hardware in the computer. 1. RAM: This has 8GB 2666Mhz with the 2 problems with the RAM is it is only single channel instead of dual channel which, especially on AMD Ryzen processors, has a considerable performance impact in CPU performance. The second problem I have with both the memory and the CPU is the 2400G is an APU and it has a permanent hardware reserve of 2GB out of 8GB of the RAM. This cannot be disabled with its very limited BIOS settings nor with any software. The problem here is it already having dedicated graphics and it still reserves 2GB of RAM that I can't use unless they make a fix where the APU memory can be disabled. Until then, this does not have 8GB of RAM it only has 6GB which causes problems with stuttering because games don't have enough available memory. Another problem I have with the computer is with the GPU. The GPU that is in this computer has big performance handicaps because of its design. The card only has 1 FAN AND 1 SIX PIN POWER CONNECTOR. An RX 580 which has a TDP of 185W has 1 fan and one 6 pin power connector. I checked using GPU-Z that HP has limited the board power of this card to only 150W 35 watts less than a normal RX 580. This can be solved by using MSI Afterburner and increasing the power limit and adding a custom fan curve. One thing I do like it it has a 400W 80+ Platinum power supply which fan runs silent most of the time. This only cost $479 on prime day so for the price you can't go wrong even with all the complaints I have with it. ... show more

  • Fill the empty M.2 slot on the motherboard with a NVMe SSD card!
I went with the Corsair MP510 for my SSD, but there are plenty of other good options from which to choose. You definitely want to make the SSD your operating system's primary boot drive, so keep that in mind when selecting the size of the SSD you will install... I went with half the size of the HDD that came with the machine, so 500 GB, which is probably about double what I reasonably need. While you're fiddling around inside your new machine's guts, you may as well go ahead and fill the empty RAM slot with another 8 GB for a total of 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. After these simple updates, you have converted a budget/value box into kind of a monster of a machine for what is still a very reasonable price. You can also pretend like you built your own computer when the effort involved is far less than a complete build would require and if you're like me, you'll learn a few things in the process. If you're reading this review, you already know an NVMe SSD is compatible with this machine's motherboard, which is more than I knew about solid state drives before I purchased this machine. Oh, I should mention that Amazon does provide people to help you work through the endless departments you will be hot-potatoed between any time you endeavor to contact a human being with actual technical knowledge at any of the large computer manufacturers. I literally was under the impression that HP only offered AI technical help until Judith with Amazon's concierge tech support team confidently assured me she would find the elusive human technologist amongst the ocean of machines who work over at HP. She did too... Thanks Judith, you're the best! ... show more

  • Good PC maybe faulty USB ports
I'm not 100% happy with this desktop due to it not working good with my external HDDs. They keep disconnecting and reconnecting which makes streaming movies off them almost impossible. This really sucks since I bought this as a replacement Plex server / Living room computer. Other than that it works good. Runs games at a high moderate or lower highs. I upgraded the ram (A must IMO) was easy enough. Planning on adding a NVMe HDD since it has a slot. ... show more
