  • IF YOU DONT LIKE MONEY - BUY THIS
Style: Old Version
Bought this so I could make a photo album for my wife for Christmas. Downloaded over 20k worth of pictures and videos. Stored them all on my hard drive. Sorted all the pictures into categories. Took a few weeks to do. Went back and started picking the ones I wanted to print for her. About 400 pictures in- and (6) 64XL Color Cartridges and 1(HP Color Instant Ink) cartridge (only used 1 HP Instant Ink Black cartridge) My printer received an error code. I contact HP tech support via chat. Took over 20 minutes in a chat to actually get to the problem. I even logged into my HP account from the start so they would have all my information. Still needed to provide it in the chat. After 1 hour the tech support person had me running the same steps over and over to no avail. Then wanted to remote log into my computer- Uhhh no thanks. I said a few things in the chat I am not proud of. BUT I vowed to never again buy HP printers or products. I seem to have problems with HP printers around the 400-500 page mark. This was my 4th HP printer in 8 years. I have just been too stubborn to switch. BUT hey- if you like wasting money, and going through ink like water, then this is the printer for you. I was so desperate to get ink, that I was running into Office Depot(shiver) to buy ink. Thanks goodness they price matched Amazon, and saved me a few bucks. Ink is not cheap. I think the ink used for this printer is hand crafted by Elves in the Brazilian rain forest only on full moons. It has to be based on the prices they charge for it. So 6 regular XL ink cartridges, and 1 instant ink cartridge for 400 pages. That equals about 57 pages per cartridge and the cartridges are about $55 a piece, so a little more than $1.00 per page to print a photo. I could go to a printing company and not actually have to do all the work. Just pop my stuff on a flash drive, take it in and say, print this. It would be the same cost. That's not even taking into account the cost of the paper. That is about $0.50 a sheet. So $1.50 per photo. Print quality was ok on it. I did use HP Premium photo paper Glossy 60lb weight. I printed 8x10s, 5x7's and 4x6's. At first the 4x6's in the main paper tray were printing out crooked and the photos were not lined up right. I switched to photo tray and same problem. I wasted about 10 4x6 pictures trying to get it right. Eventually I had to use the main photo tray to get the 4x6 to work. The 8x10 and 5x7 were no problem. Just sucked through ink. So HP I say farewell, its not me, it's you. Its been 20 years of disappointment and frustration, but this time I mean it, we are done. Don't try to come back to me later saying you're good, and you worked on yourself and we can make it work again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me 20x+ for 20+ years, shame on me. ... show more

  • You've been warned!
Style: Old Version
If a ZERO Star were possible, this is what this product and HP deserve. HP released software updates requiring HP users to buy/use only HP ink cartridges, creating a monopoly supporting its cartridge subscription service. Morgan and Morgan currently have a class-action lawsuit alleging the same. I ordered this printer in mid-August 2025, installed included ink cartridges but had to replace ink cartridges in mid-September, so I ordered 3rd party replacements, which worked for about a month before I got an "incompatibility" error. I replaced the 3rd party with genuine HP ink cartridges. Now, in mid November 2025, this printer refuses to print with a message that I need to "finish" setting it up, requiring the use of an HP account (which I have); enabled web services, and an internet connection for setup and use (which, I have). Don't bother contacting HP customer support...they will just take your name and number to refer to a technician...I tried that too. There was only a 30-day return or I would send it back. FYI, I have an HP laptop and neither the laptop nor the printer recognize each other in the HP website/account. There is an app, HP Smart, presumably initiated by HP which is no longer recommended by HP to install their products for security reasons, but my current research showed that they haven't universally released the alternative so be careful of any recommendations regarding use of HP Smart App, if you're seeking help with an HP printer. Finally, HP works very hard trying to sell you product but not supporting the product you've bought. If you don't believe me, go to the HP website. You've been warned. ... show more

  • Absolute CRAP!!!
Style: Old Version
I bought this printer in April, 2022. I had problems with it from day 1. Sometimes it would only print on the right side of the paper, other times the black print was so light, it was unreadable. I had to make numerous calls to HP Customer Service Tech Support. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I installed a brand new color ink cartridge and the printer jammed. I called Tech Support and after almost 2 hours on the phone, they determined that they would replace the printer. (It is still under warranty). I was assured that the replacement would be a brand new printer and I repeatedly asked: Are you sure it will be new, because I do not want a refurbished one. They assured me several times that it would be new. I thought it was odd that when the replacement arrived, it was not in an original box like one you would get from the store, but just put into a brown carton with styrofoam. I shipped back my original printer and attempted to install the replacement. Immediately, I found that the paper tray was jammed and would not open properly. I called tech support and during another 2 hour phone call, I came to find out that the replacement printer was in fact refurbished! I was livid.....I paid for new and I wanted new. I was transferred to a supervisor who assured me that they would either give me a full refund or a replacement with a new printer. They asked for a copy of my proof of payment, which I submitted to them TWICE! I have just spent the last 2 weeks calling HP for a status on my issue and I am constantly being told that the issue was escalated to upper management and I would hear back from them within 24 hours. I wonder what HP considers 24 hours, since this has been going on for 2 weeks. Meanwhile, I have been without a printer all this time. If I had the option of giving this a rating of 0 stars, I would have. I do not recommend your wasting your hard earned money on an HP printer. As I write this, I have been on the phone with HP Customer Service for the last 45 minutes waiting to reach an upper management supervisor. They have the absolute worst customer service department of any company I have ever dealt with. ... show more
