I needed a new printer. I always loved HP printers. There easy to set up and also you can apply for new ink cartridges. They send you new ones after you sign up with them. I also get their printer paper . Its only 10 dollars a month. Well worth it. Print cartridges are insanely over priced. This works for me. I have had this printer for 6 months. This is my 2nd one. The first one never broke. It just became outdated. I had it for 6 years. Best printers ever made. ... show more

    • Beware of ink cartridge replacement subscription

This HP printer was mediocre but it was inexpensive. The main issue is they steer you towards signing up for their automatic ink replacement plan at the time you register the printer. I mistakenly decided to try it and I periodically got charged for replacement ink when HP determined it was time for new ink cartridges. I decided to cancel the ink subscription plan because I didn’t like the random charges. After a few months, the printer stopped printing with an error message that I was no longer enrolled in the subscription plan so the cartridges will not work. I gave up chatting with HP support because I don’t believe a company should control when you need ink and when the cartridges can work. It also concerns me that they have to monitor my usage so they can determine ink replacement shipments. I am dumping this relatively inexpensive HP printer and will buy another brand of printer that doesn’t trap you in this type of ink replacement plan. ... show more

My main use for this printer is to print patterns and packing slips/labels. So far, it's worked great. It is simple to set up and very comprehensive. The ink you get with the printer is more like a sample size and ran out very quickly. But the 3 months of the free subscription allowed the full size refills to be sent straight to me before the ink was out. I wanted a printer that I could use from my phone and without a subscription. This one checks both those boxes. Although the subscription service is not mandatory, it is convenient. I'm considering keeping it after the free trial ends. The subscription offers timely i k and paper refills and is customizable based on your needs and preferences. I was able to print from both my phone and computer with little to no hassle. I had one connectivity issue where it said the printer was busy so I couldn't print anything. The app offered several solutions and I got it working again. That may have been due to user error though considering I accidentally unplugged it. It is a slight inconvenience that it always has to be on. I understand that it needs to be connected to wifi for the app to measure the amount of ink left in the machine, but I'm working with limited outlets and this printer permanently subtracts one. First let me say I'm a NOT a tech person at all and absolutely hate getting new devices that needing setting up. I read all the reviews of all the printers and one was just as bad as the other so I just settled on this one. I was pleasantly surprised that SET UP AND CONNECTING TO WIFI WAS A BREEZE! I didn't have to go find a video, just followed the easy, simple included directions. It was also easy to bypass the insta ink feature...just keep clicking no on those questions. I don't print a lot so speed isn't an issue for me. The print color is fine. If you're like I was and putting off buying a new printer, I recommend this one. This is a good printer, just do not like the paper tray being on the back, doesn't to seem to hold very much paper, would have preferred the paper tray being a tray under the printer. It prints clean sharp papers and as long as I don't try to put too many sheets in the paper trap it does not jam, but if I put any excess it jams. No where in the paperwork does it tell you how many sheets it can hold and I don't like that. The ink supply seems to be good I print a fair amount of mail and the ink seems to hold out good. It appears for the price that is in a good investment, hope it lasts the years my last HP printer did. ... show more

I'm not sure what to think of this printer. I ran into an immediate problem since my computer is on a 5 ghz network and the printer requires a 2.4ghz network (not disclosed in the ad as AFAIKT). I finally got it to work with a wired 5 ghz connection and a 2.4 ghz wireless connection to my computer but don't really understand how. It seems to require that you run your print jobs thru the HP Smart app. The process to get the printer working took a couple of hours. Edit: One of the most important things that a printer can do is make prints. That seems to be too much to ask of this machine. Another bit of weirdness is having to use print cartridges that you get by mail with a subscription from HP. I guess this is why the printer is so cheap - there's a continuous stream of income to HP from the ink cartridge subscriptions. Apparently bad stuff happens if you try to use a non-HP cartridge in it. The shipping box was very resistant to any attempts to remove the printer. I finally had to tear it apart to get the printer out. Edit 1/15/2026 Out of desperation I needed a print today so gave this printer another chance. I finally got it connected and was able to get one print made. Then it went offline again and I couldn't get another print made. This printer is no longer sold on Amazon. I guess we can figure out the reason. I'm just sorry I missed the return window. ... show more
