Overall, I’m very pleased with the S4. It does what it’s supposed to-dry filament-with the added bonus of being able to load 4 spools at once. Quite an upgrade from my old single spool dryer. Controls are easy to use, it’s not terribly loud (then again, I have an S1 in my bedroom and that noise doesn’t bother me either), and it’s very easy to print directly from the unit thanks to the numerous outlets for filament-4 on top, 2 on each end. If I have one complaint, it’s the lids. I’d have preferred that Sunlu make them permanently attached because these are a little difficult to keep on. When opening the dryer you have to push in a little tab on the lid and if the lid isn’t firmly seated, you’ll push it out. A very minor gripe but considering how well it’s built and how well it works, I’ll live with it.

Works great. No issues with my filament when I leave it in here before printing. Be careful when you set it for higher temperature because I had it melt my spool holder made out of pla. Nice the filament can feed right through Bambu labs ama lite.

So glad I purchased this. I was having severe humidity issues with my filament that was impacting print quality or causing prints to fail. As soon as I started using this dryer those issues went away immediately. Only critiques I have : I wish it had 4 outputs on each end instead of just 2. With the way my printer is setup I could use 4 better than just 2 on one end. The plastic is a bit darker than the images show so it's not easy to see the filament spools. NOTE : If your printer has a printhead lift sensor and error detection, make sure you don't put it too far from the printer. In my case, too much tube caused sufficient friction to impact filament flow causing the printhead to occasionally lift enough to trigger an error on Snapmaker Artisan. Once I moved things around a bit and shortened the tube a bit the issue went away. Also make sure the tube has no significant curves.

I keep the device in the MO2 mode, or what I call "ready to go" mode. As the humidity builds the machine will turn on and run until the humidity is brought back down so your filament is ready for immediate printing when you are. Each "end" of the machine has 4 places to output filament -- two on the top lid and two on the side. When using the holes on the top lid, this makes opening the lid awkward because the PTFE tubes are "captured" into the lid so they move with it and opening the other lid now you have to spread out the PTFE tubes coming out of the lid on the other side to make room. A better design would have been for the two spools on one end to be close together and the other two farther apart allowing for all 4 spools to exit out of the same end of the machine. ... and speaking of the lid, there is nothing to hold the lid open while you load and unload spools. If you are using the holes in the lid, since the PTFE tubes want to go back to their shape you can't open the lid and let go of it as the PTFE tubes will push it shut. During development someone *must* have had this complaint and Sunlu decided to do nothing and let the 3d printing community make their own solutions since it's cheaper and easier for them.

This dryer started failing within weeks. First it threw ER3 at 70°C (temperature regulation fault), then slowly got worse until it could barely maintain 50°C without shutting down. For a product advertised at 70°C capability, that’s unacceptable. Virtually every “fix” online involves drilling holes in the bottom plate or propping up the unit on standoffs, which not only makes it louder but confirms the airflow design is fundamentally flawed. And because the control logic is locked down, there’s no way to correct the clearly faulty firmware causing the safety trips. I now have a $150 machine that wakes me up multiple times a night with a piercing alarm; and it still can’t dry filament at the temperatures it advertises. Unfortunately I missed the return window, but this has been the worst-performing 3D printing accessory I’ve purchased in 10+ years. Do yourself a favor: avoid Sunlu entirely. I wish I could get my money back.

This thing is outstanding! I like that it has a touch-based screen to make it easy to adjust settings, along with a countdown timer that is easy to understand, rather than picking a time and being unsure how much time is left. The fact that you can feed directly from it is a plus, with ports for each spool available. I have an AMS system for my Bambu; otherwise, I would actually use it myself. Being able to drop in 4 spools at once without exceeding the available space is excellent.
