We got this fan for our odd shaped living room, which is long but narrow. It fit perfectly within the area we needed and the fan blows off some extreme air. We were not thrilled about all the technology thats involved, such as no pull strings. We didn't realize it until after we received the product. But it came as described, and was semi-easy to install. We did not follow the directions to a T, but it was self-explanatory really. The remote works good with the sytem and does as it says. It comes with button batteries, not your standard ones. You can place the remote on the wall, and use it as a switch. The lights it comes with are dim ( vintage style ) and perfect for our use. The whole fan is pretty and appealing to the eye, we get alot of compliments. ... show more

    • Worth it! Love these fans!! Here’s why…..

I bought these fans (2 of this model) for the rental property I live in. My landlord paid for their electrician to come and install them. The electrician had no problem installing the first one, and had to return the next morning to install the second one. He had a heck of a time trying to get the remote kit to fit inside the fan and it took him close to 30 minutes (griping and almost yelling at the fan) to finally get it to fit. So even though they were the same exact fan, one was increasingly more difficult to install, as I saw in some other reviews. The noise level isn’t bad, but on high it makes a low pitched “whirring” noise that takes some getting used to. Overall it’s a quiet enough fan and you get used to the whirring sound almost immediately. It’s just not totally silent like I know some fans can be. The remote is easy to use, very self explanatory and I have no issues with it! Easy peasy!! The one thing I did have to do was find “daylight” lightbulbs that would be bright enough but no higher than 7 watts. I’m not a fan of the dim, golden hue given off by the lights that come with it. I like white light, and because it’s the overhead light in my bedroom, the brighter the better. I managed to find a four pack of 7 watt daylight bulbs, equivalent to 50 watt bulbs. It works. All the rest of the 7 watt bulbs I found were equivalent to 40 watt bulbs. The max of 7 watts is per the manufacturer. I saw a few reviews where other people put in any bulb they could find and it melted the bulb “outlet” (the spot where the bulb screws in). So I’m definitely trying to avoid that from occurring. Overall these are great fans for a smaller room that give off a good amount of air and definitely help keep my upstairs bedrooms cooler, so my central A/C was able to go from 72 (before the fans) to 75 and save me some money!! ... show more

    • The most difficult ceiling fan I have ever installed!

First of all and most important; it is made in China. It seems Honeywell is just like every company out there. All they are concerned with how much they can charge for a poorly made product, and still get away with it. Second of all the fan is poorly designed. The top canopy is not deep enough to easily tuck away the wires that cannot be pushed up in the electrical box. The mounting bracket is not big enough to accommodate the remote receiver and all of the stiff wires that must be pushed up enough to get the upper canopy seated and secured. The slot in the fitter plate that is designed to insert the screw driver and strew to attach the fan blades is too small. Removing the ten fan blade screws from the motor plate was on step that should not have had to be made. The part of the light kit that is designed to tuck the wires into before attaching the light kit to the fan motor is not deep enough to easily accommodate all of the wires and plugs. The only positive thing I can say is the fan and light fixture look very nice. I like the features the fan has, but I will never buy another Honeywell ceiling fan. Bring your manufacturing branch back to the United States of America and your product quality will show a marked improvement. ... show more

Honeywell Ceiling Fans 51459-01 Carnegie Ceiling Fan, 52, Matte Black with Copper-this is a beautiful fan. It runs quietly and the remote works well too. The installation is a bit tricky, mostly the fan blades installation. Initially, the batteries we put into the remote did not work, but we found another set of batteries(?) in the box and those worked fine. Overall, a pretty simple setup if you've installed ceiling fans before, took about 1.5 hours for my husband. ... show more
