Installation was easy. My existing unit had a jumper from Rcool to Rheat. With the terminal blocks on this unit, there isn’t an easy way to install a jumper. I contacted customer support via chat and was told not to install a jumper, but set the dip switch to disconnect. When powering up the unit and selecting the wires installed, the unit said to set the dip switch to connect. It’s still 98F here, so I’m not too worried about the heat. I didn’t remove the front plate to change the dip switch. If the heat doesn’t work in the winter, then I’ll change. Connection to WiFi was easy. Connected to Alexa was impossible. I tried with both the Smart Life app and the Alexa app. The temperature is 3 degrees off, it reads high. Programming was easy with the app. Changing temperature or modes is easy with the app. Also worked with the WiFi off on my phone, so it should work from anywhere. I don’t see a way to set the temperature dead band, nor do I see what it is. Hopefully, this doesn’t cycle the compressor too often. There are no instructions for installing the smart sensor batteries. I finally figured out you need to push and slide the back. The app states the batteries have 0% available, both before and after installation. The only way to get the temperature reading for the sensor is though the setting on the app. It also read the same as the t-stat. I’m not sure what the sensor does, since it does not appear to control anything. The unit comes with a c-wire adapter. This is nice for those replacing a t-stat without a c-wire, but they should sell two different packages. I feel like I paid for something not needed. Overall, this is average. I just need to set the t-stay 3 F lower to compensate for the inaccuracy and I can’t use Alexa, which I probably wouldn’t anyway. I would have given a 4 if it wasn’t for the temperature inaccuracy. Update. The advice from customer service was incorrect. The dip switch must be set to connect. This connects the Rc to Rh. Now my heat works.

UPDATE: After doggedly working on this issue - because I really like this thermostat- I determined that my router is dual band. And while most wi-fi appliances self-attach to their preferred radio, this device requires you to force it to grab the 2.4 signal. In my case, this meant I had to create 2 router names - one for each band. I was reluctant to do this, as I have 11 other devices on 2.4 and changing the name would require relogging each of them in (printers, smart plugs, Echos, etc.) But I bit the bullet and did it. The Homenex was then able to connect and the app now works! So glad I don’t have to uninstall and send it back. ORIGINAL: I can't see anywhere in the info on this product that it requires 2.4 GHz. Maybe I missed it? After spending an hour plus installing, I couldn't get it to pair with my WiFi. In the troubleshooting guide, buried in the Q/A, it says, "Only 2.4 G Wi-Fi is supported at this moment, please check if the Wi-Fi network is 2.4G." Well, guess what - mine is 5G. I'm so sad because this looks like a wonderful product otherwise, I was so looking forward to controlling it with the Alexa app. Now it looks like I'll have to uninstall, reinstall my old one, and send this one back. So frustrated.

I wish I could choose. No stars!!! Replaced old thermostat with this and from day one it did not work correctly. Spent money on three different electricians to come put this in and none of them can figure it out. Spent $550 for an emergency call because the damn thing went out during -12 degree weather. Many times it would just produce cold air during a heating cycle and then the next cycle it was fine. This item is bipolar… It needs medication. Just spent another $90 on a new thermostat that was much cheaper and work completely fine.

Didn’t install for awhile so “warranty “ gone. The thermostat is off by 5 degrees and the outside temp is way off. I do love the app convenience and it does control the system well but this a real inconvenience.

As a thermostat the most important job is to keep temperatures at a desired level by turning on or off your hvac system. From day one this thing has been squirrelly at best. I should have just sent it back. As you can see in the photo the internal thermometer only works randomly. Every morning at 6am the system freezes at 67 degrees then turns the heat on. In this oictue the heat had been running nonstop and heated up the main level to 77 degrees. Though it now shows that it's 71 you'll notice not only the real temp is 76 but that I've turned thermostat to AC yet its been twenty minutes and the AC hasn't come on yet. This thing is worthless. Only wish I'd have realized it in time to return it.

bought it during promotion as a gift, the packaging is really nice and honestly the unit looks beyond my expectations. instructions are very detail and it even comes with a C wire adapter, that google nest sells it for 25 bucks!! a great one for someone looking to replace the old thermostat

After lots of research on thermostat with Alexa compatibility, i decided to go with the homenex thermostat. Great price and it comes with everything you need! including the c wire adapter and a smart sensor that can work with the thermostat. Easy to install and very easy to use.
