I've had this a couple of months now, and now I can safely say that this trash can is the best I've ever experienced! The soft close lids are great, and you have the option to leave them open if need be. Mine came undamaged and in perfect working order, and still show no signs of wear. They are very easy to clean. Just a quick wipe down with a rag for smudges, or a spot of multicleaner on a rag for any spots is more than sufficient, and a spritz of vinegar + water in the bin for smells. It's pretty good at keeping smells locked in, but not 100%. The only thing that I dislike is that it needs an atypical size of trash bag, but I found that I can use my old standard kitchen bags just fine. There is a hole in the back that you can tuck the excess liner into, so you are given the option to use standard bags. Just means that the bag won't be full when you pull it out of the can, but we seldom fill a bag in a week anyway in our household so that's not a big deal for us. I also really like that it came with magnets to indicate which side is trash and which side is recycling. I live with someone who's inattentive and very forgetful, and those little magnets help him get his waste into the right side. They're sleek and help save space in the kitchen. A little more than you might pay for two cans at Costco, but it's well worth it for the functionality, space savings, and ease of cleaning. Highly recommend! ... show more

Two separate lid option: We got this trash can because we needed to start a compost bin; and I wanted something that looked good and kept the compost smell out. We use one side for normal trash and the other for compost. We keep our compost in its side every week until it’s time to go outside in the compost trash bin. And NO SMELL!! We can only smell it when we open the lid to put more scraps in. The charcoal filter it comes with and the secure lid I think helps with that smell a lot. We have had two separate trash cans for years. This makes like so much easier. The dual trash can is beautifully designed and works perfectly for both trash and recycling. It comes with a small amount of 30R trash bags. I decided to subscribe on Amazon for them, which the are a Perfect fit and come scented. I did a lot of research when deciding which trash can to purchase for our home, and so far, I’m very happy with my decision to choose this one! It arrived in one piece and without any scratches or dents (I was a little worried about this based in some other reviews I read but mine was very well packaged) and it looks great in our kitchen. One thing I did notice is that the lids close flush with the top of the bin itself (last photo) which looks very nice but I’m hoping it doesn’t become a problem in the future. After a while, the foot peddle on my old trash can didn’t work well and I started just lifting the lid with my fingers - something that might be difficult to do with the way this is designed. Regardless of that small detail, it’s a very sturdy and attractive trash/recycling bin that checked a lot of boxes for us. ... show more
