I feel quite ridiculous raving about an inanimate object, but I really *do* love this garbage can! While my last one was also a 13-gal stainless steel can, I just love this design so much better. I love how the inner plastic can/liner is recessed and fits perfectly into the outer can. I love the shape of the liner can: its not a standard rectangle. It has little indents on the short ends of the rectangle, almost like handles. The lid opens and closes so smoothly. I love that the lid is recessed into the top creating a flush surface. This item came with 13 gal/50 liter garbage bags made by Home Zone, and they fit great, but as I ran low, I couldn't find replacements by Home Zone so I just purchased the Amazon brand of 13 gallon bags (what I used with my old garbage can). You definitely need to stretch the Amazon bags a bit in order for them to fit this liner but I love that too. The Amazon bags were always loose on my last trash can and I'd have to twirl them up and pinch the bag between the liner and the can to get them to fit tighter. I hated that! It was so annoying! So I do love that you need to stretch these to get them around the edge of the liner because they STAY put! And last but not least, I love that the "guts" for the lid (the verticle rods that enable the lid to open and close) are INSIDE the can! My last can had those workings on the outside of the can so when you wanted to keep the lid open for any amount of time, you'd have to pull the can away from the wall to keep the lid straight up. BUT NOT THIS CAN! The lid stands straight up without having to move it away from the wall. All around, I just love the design of this can!

This trash can is well worth it! I spent a lot of time picking out a trash can because we have a bottle-neck in our questionably-designed 1950s kitchen and anything wider would impede traffic flow even more. However, any traditional trash can would have the step in the wrong direction from where meal prep happens. This trash can's foot pedal easily opens the lid, yet never bangs against the wall behind it - even with my 7 year old twins and their lack of force modulation. Overall this trash can is fairly quiet compared to others I've had in the past. Using the filter really pays off during the summer! I loved this product so much when it became time to replace my compost pail, I went to Home Zone's page first and picked one out there, and it easily hangs on the side of this trash can. Even with the heater being inches away, I have yet to encounter any rank smells while the lids are closed. The only downside I can say about this trash can is that the bin's circumference is a little longer than the average one so my trash bags are a little bit more of a struggle to get around it. The bags we already had on hand are Glad ForceFlex. Glad has been making them thinner and thinner over the last few years (they want you to pay more for their premium ones), so I've seen an uptick in ripped bags even before changing to this new trash can. Once this roll is done, I'll be trying out other brands. I love that this trash can has an ability to keep the lid open, if desired. I'm teaching my kids how to sweep and emptying the dustpans without battling the lid needing to close is very helpful. Plus, the trash can is tall enough that my 38lb pitbull mix can't easily make a buffet out of things. I suggest adding a thin coat of stainless steel polish because it really lengthens the amount of time needed between wipe-downs.

Let me just say I have always had a authentic trash can and I was worried I would miss it. Nope not on bit this trash can is amazing, its big, tuff, and stronger than I thought it would be. Being able to remove the inner basket makes all the sense in the world. The foot pedal is surprisingly strong, not having to deal with replacing batteries in a dirty automatic trash can compartment is worth every dollar. Trust me look no further, this is the one.

I can't say enough goodbthings about this trash can!! The design is perfect fotvthevendvof my kitchen counter. The pedal is on the narrow side so I don't have to walk around the can to step on the pedal to open the pail, just go to the of the counter and the pedal is in the front, not side. It's sleek but spacious, holds a ton of waste and the home zone trash liners are equally amazing. I never had a bag break and i have filled it to the max! The pail is ready to lift out to remove and replace the liner and the scented bags are such a plus! I highly recommend this trash container and the liners (sold separately) as well .. this pail is worth every penny!

CONS — the can slips and slides around the floor like crazy. You barely touch it and it slides around. Do not believe any reviews that say this trash can stays put or has any sort of non slip base. Absolutely false. Maybe they used to have that? No longer. It sits on hard plastic discs. — Amazon says the cans come with scented bags. I purchased two cans and neither included any bags — The company doesn’t even make bags specifically to the size of these cans. It’s odd given how many different sizes they offer. This is a 50 liter can. They recommend using their 45 liter bags that they include with their smaller cans. Makes no sense. PROS — they look look great and seem sturdy. Perfect size for us. — easy to set up and use

For those people skimming reviews, the pictures I included are (in order): my old trash can with the poor lid design (which caused black marks on my wall), this trash can, and this trash can next to my similar SimpleHuman can that we currently use for recycling. Long story short: if you’ve been combing through reviews trying to find the best trash can to buy, I’m here to tell you that your search is over. This is my favorite home/everyday item purchase I’ve made in a long time. It’s worth every penny I genuinely don’t see myself buying any other brand of trash can moving forward now that I’ve found this one. Long story long: I realized it was time for a new trash can after deciding to paint my kitchen. Let me explain: my previous trash can also had a step to open the lid similar to this one, but it was designed so the hinge that opened the lid extended past the stainless steel back of the trashcan itself. The first picture I included is my old trash can so you can see what I mean. Every time we used the step to open the can, the force of our step would push the can back further and further until the hinge/lid was eventually against the wall. Then, the repetitive opening of the trashcan hinge/lid while it was touching the wall resulted in big black scuff marks on our walls from the black plastic of the lid. Since I’m going to repaint our kitchen, I needed a can where the hinge/lid mechanism wouldn’t end up against the wall and cause the same discoloration. This trash can immediately stood out to me because the hinge for the lid is flush with the rest of the can. Even if I push against the front of the can and try to force it into the wall, because of small width of my baseboards, it’s literally not possible for the hinge to come into contact with the wall. That means this trash can can’t make those same big black scuff marks on my walls like my previous can did, so my soon-to-be newly painted walls will be safe! That alone was reason enough for me to buy this can. The trash can arrived securely packed and undamaged in the box. Despite the size of the box, I didn’t find it heavy and it was easy for me to bring the box inside on my own. The can has a thin design but still fits a surprisingly large amount of trash. My Glad brand trash bags fit perfectly in the canister, no need to buy the bags they advertise with the can. The thin design means it can fit in a variety of spaces, making it compatible with many different kitchen layouts (or whatever room you may be using it in!). I also love that the step on the front of the can is essentially the full width of the can itself. This makes it feel more sturdy to me. The lid closes smoothly and quietly. There is a little clip on the underside of the lid where you can secure an air freshener/filter if you’d like. The can does come with one filter included to place in this clip. The “stay open” feature for the lid also works as expected. I have not noticed an issue with the can sliding around like other reviews mention, though I have it located snugly between a can we use for recycling and a small ledge where the flooring changes, so that may be keeping it securely in place. I also feel like in general, the design of this trash can is more aesthetically pleasing to me compared to other cans I’ve used or seen. If you look at the third picture I included, you can see this can side by side with the similar SimpleHuman can we use for recycling. I definitely prefer the overall look and design of this can compared to our recycling can. So much so, I’m actually debating getting this can in the other matte black color so we can use that for our recycling instead!! I seriously can’t think of a “con” to include. I’m so happy I decided to buy this. I know you will be too!

***Edited to add photo...someone asked about a handle in back & it didn't seem as though there was a pic in description. 😉 We needed to replace our trash can, and I thought this one had pretty good reviews as well as the size/features that we were looking for. I did note that several people seemed to have gotten one with some sort of dent/damage....but the one we received was in perfect condition! I thought it would be about the same size as the one we had, but it actually seems to be a bit bigger. I think it is due to the shaping of the can. I do agree with some others that the scented bags are a bit strong, but they are still not really bad. I do like the rose smell and I think after a day or so the smell lessons. The foot pedal is also very nice. Not as long as the one we had before, and I think that is a good thing. Our last one broke on one side of the pedal and therefore was really not able to open well after that. Had just been getting worse over time. The old can opened from the front or long side....this one opens on the shorter side/end. It is not hard to press the peddle, but is somewhat firm, as it should be. The lid is easy to open carefully so as not to "fling" it open, and the soft close works really well. I also like that the bag is totally hidden inside the can. I think this one will be really nice for a long time!

We purchased 2 of these for our kitchen and couldn't be happier. They are very large and look great! We use one for garbage and one for recycle. Step pedal opening works very well and the lid goes right up. The lid stays up when you push it straight up so you can empty the can. Nice plastic liner inside the can to prevent leaks on the floor. Charcoal deodorizer slot on the lid. The bags that come with the trash can smell strongly of baby powder, so we used those up and just use regular 13 gallon bags. Great quality. We've had our cans for over 3 months and they look and work great. Highly recommend!
