  • A solid choice
I know lots of people have complained about this saw having issues here and there but I've had mine with a 36" skip chain for over a year and actually just bought another to run a 28" bar . I only use mine for occasional tree work and don't beat on it. I due regular maintenance and clean it after use, which is how most professionals treat their tools. This price beats the major saw brands by miles and if you don't like it then go spend thousands of dollars on those, if you want. I will say that some of the assembly was challenging but otherwise no complaints. All parts can be swapped out with STIHL parts so that is a plus. ... show more

  • So far working great.
Gift for my son and he loves it. Just got it put together and it is doing a great job. He's putting it through the pre-sawing mode now. Don't be shocked if it all comes on two different days and in two different boxes. Motor came one day and the chain and bar came the next.

  • Better than I expected.
4 stars maybe deserves 5 but took away one for the following: leaks chain bar oil, not the best oiler. So honestly deserves 4.75 stars. I have used tis on a number of logs over 30 inches in diameter. Just bucking not fell. Smoothe as can be expected. I then got a ripping chain and an Alaskan saw mill and have been using the saw for milling. Very content with performance. Two cuts and have to refill. 20 plus inch in diameter. I don’t own a 660 or 661 from the huge manufacturer but I own a few huskies. The fact the parts are compatible with oem stihl parts is very reassuring. I have 3 chains all at 24 inches one ripping other two full chisel, one filed at 30 other at 15 to try as ripping chain. All from same manufacturer of head and seem to be comparable to my Oregon and husky chains as far as sharpness and durability. The value is incredible when you compare to other 90cc chainsaws. I have probably used this saw for well over 100 hours of cutting/milling. Yes it’s heavy, but it’s got great power and so far durability. Been doing normal material and runs just great. I don’t like the chain brake but it does work as intended start was rather simple put on choke push in piston relief valve, pull about 3 times till it burps, take off choke 2-4 pulls and she is purring (very loudly). If you are on the edge of buying one if it’s for home use, do it. For commercial I am not sure if you can write off the cost of a new 661 then do it but this is a very viable solution. ... show more

  • Saved me a lot of money.
Had a hard time starting at first. It was me and not the chainsaw. Ask Rufus how to start and he will break it down for you. Watch chicanic on YouTube. She gives a good review on this chainsaw after two commercial people used it in their business for six months. I did remove the dust filter thing recommend for dusty conditions to help it get more air. Seemed to make it easier to start. Photo attached. I have been running this saw for a month now. Very reliable and cuts through 23 in logs like butter. Like it so much that I bought a G466 to replace my other chainsaw. ... show more

  • Wood Eatin' Savage
Like the title says, a Wood Eatin' Savage. I've cut down several big trees and sliced and quartered into them into cords of fire logs and I'm still impressed every time that I use it. Add a chisel point, skip tooth chain and it performs even better. It was a struggle learning to start it but now I know the sequence and it's no big chore. Start yanking with it in choke position (lever full down) until the comp release pops out, stop pulling and move the lever to the center position (no choke, throttle held open), mash the comp release button and pull until it starts, or after 5 or so pulls, go back to full choke then move the lever to the center position (which takes the choke off but keeps the throttle open) and pull a few times until it starts. If it doesn't you likely flooded it and will have to be cleared before it will start. Once warm, you can easily restart by moving to the center position and drop start it. Mine almost always starts on the first pull, and if not I repeat the no choke, throttle open procedure and it does. One flaw that I needed to fix is the chain tensioner mechanism. The tensioner gear shaft end rides in a casting slot that's too wide and allows the gear shaft to slop around, which in turn binds the tensioner gears. Make a short bushing from 3/16" thin wall brass tubing to slip over the gear end of the shaft to take up some of the slop and the tensioner will then perform as intended. ... show more

  • Great product
The only thing I'm not liking about this Chainsaw is there is a specific sequence to starting this saw and it's not in the book.. the sequence is this you put saw in full choke push compression button in, engage chain lock for safety only, pull coord till compression button pops even a tiny bit is good enough but DONT PULL COORD AGAIN YET or you'll flood the damn thing, then you push compression button in again put in half choke or to the on position, I haven't figured out if there is or where the half choke position is, then you pull coord till it starts... and it starts pretty easily if you do it exactly that way. But If you smell gas real bad you flooded it and need to start all over after deflooding chamber.. This saw is very easy to flood if you pull coord even one time after the compression button pops it will flood immediately .. At least this has been my experience with the chainsaw bluethunder g660 holzfforma 24 in bar and chain.. Cause I didn't do this sequence exactly cause I didn't know to do it found in a forum, it took me days to get this chainsaw to start and a bunch of needless tinkering as well just to end up putting everything back exactly how it was out of the box minus the spark plug. ... show more

  • Out of the box, it needed adjusting.
It needed some significant work to adjust the carburetor. But, once I got it going, It did well. Only had it a few days. The chain tightening screw seems a bit sketchy… Update…I will never buy a saw from this company again. Starts maybe 15% of the time….
