Digital Pyrometer-Glass Fusing, Annealing, Ceramics, Kiln Pyrometer, 2372F NEW MODEL 2372F max temp The Digital Pyrometer with 72" long type K thermocouple with mini K connector, battery, carrying case and metal stand. -32F to 2372F temperature readings. Unit comes with a nice metal stand and a special and unique NO-PULL out Thermocouple design. The unit is so reliable that we will offer a 5 year warranty on the meter itself - if it breaks within the 5 year period, send it back and we will either repair or replace it free of charge. No worries. Melting it does not count (i.e getting it too close to the kiln). Thermocouples wear out, so they are not covered by this warranty. This is a great, low cost, new, digital pyrometer for glass fusing, bead annealing, etc. Comes with a 72" long type K thermocouple with mini K connector. Comes complete with case, battery, type K thermocouple with high temperature insulation, manual and stand. Easy to use - just turn it on, insert thermocouple and you're ready to go. Stand can be used on a table or mounted on a wall. Pyrometer can also be removed from stand. A great upgrade to replace your small analog dial pyrometer - easier to read, more accurate. The thermocouple is a special no-pull-out design. The thermocouple is designed to be interted into a 13/64" hole in the kiln. When the end of the thermocouple is inside the kiln, turn the thermocouple to a horizontal position and pull gently. The loop will keep the thermocouple in the kiln, greatly reducing the chances of having the thermocuople accidentally pulling out of the kiln. 2372 F Max Temp for the Pyrometer. Maximum continuous (24/7) use for thermocouple is 1562F. Tk can be used at higher temperatures for less time. I had left a bad review for this item after using it with my gas kiln, where it failed to display an accurate temperature. The result being an overshoot of temperature which ruined an extensive glaze test that took me hours to prepare for. I contacted the seller through Amazon and was surprised by an almost immediate response. They provided me with very helpful information about the product and good suggestions on troubleshooting the issue. They were always quick to reply to my questions. Eventually, I was able to identify the problem which was not the device but the thermocouple that came with it. This thermocouple was not very robust, with thin wires with the ends twisted together rather than being welded. I had two more thermocouples on hand of higher quality. In testing the device with them I found one of the two was also defective. Now the good news. I was able to complete a repeat firing today successfully. My advice. I recommend this product but, if you are using it in high temp application like cone ten ceramics, you might consider purchasing a good quality thermocouple with a heavier gauge welded probe. As far as accuracy, at 2300 degrees Fahrenheit, I would say it was reading a little low. Somewhere around thirty degrees. For my purposes I am satisfied with this unit. If you are working with ceramics make sure you are backing up your work with pyrometric cones. 5 stars for their customer support. Follow up. Currently completing a cone 8 firing 2280 degrees Fahrenheit. I have installed the K2 pyrometer in the Kiln for further back up and testing. During the ramp up it was consistently 20 to 30 degrees F behind the temp shown on the PID controller for the kiln. Now at top temp 2270 it has fallen behind. Now showing 2208 while the PID controller is showing 2272. Also the pyrometric cones inside the kiln are confirming the readings from the PID controller. It could be that the thermocouple I am using is still the problem. All I can say is if you use this for what I am doing you might want to compare it to another source and make a little correction chart or something. That's what I will do. I am pretty sure the pyrometer is ok, its just the thermocouples that are unreliable. ... show more

I purchased this pyrometer in order to monitor my kiln closer for glass work and it has been excellent. The pyrometer is accurate and the thermocouple is a good length. Item shipped and arrived in timely manner and in good condition. Works great. I was considering a digital built in pyrometer for my kiln but got this as an interim, but I don't think I'll get the built in after all. I only use this for glass firing and it is easy to store and take in and out as needed. Very pleased with the product. ... show more

The thermocouple reader box works great. Mine had died after about 10 years or more of use and living outside. Great product. Theremocouple is good too. Keep your battery fresh or the readings get weird! Recommended.
