Does the camera need WiFi to record? No. LOKX records entirely offline, straight to the SD card. There is no WiFi, no internet connection, and no signal required. No connectivity issues, no dropped connections, no dead zones — it simply works anywhere there's a wall outlet. Can I view live footage from my phone? This is by design, not a limitation. Live viewing needs WiFi — a signal that can be found and accessed. LOKX has none. Every clip writes straight to the SD card. Pull the card, open the free LOKX app using Chrome on your laptop or PC, and review. Does it charge my devices? LOKX has a standard USB-A charging port. It charges Bluetooth headphones, speakers, Android phones and other standard USB devices. No cable is included in the box, so use the one you already have. What does LOKX record? 1080P HD video only, saved directly to the SD card. The device has no other recording capability. How good is the video at night or in the dark? This is a neat little camera, good for monitoring odd spaces in your home. I used it recently on the entry door to my home that the critter sitter uses when she comes over. I have a Ring camera on my front door, but she's figured out that the side door there's a dead spot (which has since been rectified) in the external camera coverage, so tends to go that way, and I was suspicious why. It turned out to be nothing nefarious, but you never know. I really wish I could give this camera 3.5 stars, it's not quite 4, but I feel bad giving it a 3. The main issue is there is no audio recording. Now I understand why this is disabled, they are trying to prevent abuse, or legal entanglements, but it's still an issue for me since it will be used solely in my home. Set up is relatively easy, and I had no issues, but it's annoying to have to install another app on my computer. I had no issues connecting the card either, once I got it pulled from the device, and the included card reader worked perfectly. I had it in an outlet about 6' (1.8m) off the floor. There are other USB plugs in that outlet so it doesn't look out of place. Now, it detected my sitter perfectly when she went in and out. It is small, looks like a perfectly normal charger, and she didn't notice. I have contacted the support email, and asked if I can put a larger memory card in it, to which they replied it will take up to a 128GB card, this will hopefully prevent overwriting of data. I didn't have an issue this time, but in case I go on a longer trip in the future. By dumb luck I had set the camera for motion detection, so it only trigged when there was something moving in it's detection window. There is a switch inside marked M and C, and the setup instructions tell you to flip it to C, but not to flip it back. I did on a whim and it saved me some irritation. C is for continuous recording, and I'm not sure if I missed something in the instructions about it, or if it's just not there. In closing, I'm not sure if I would have purchased this, mainly because of the lack of audio recording. I'm also a bit bothered by the lack of included documentation, both in the box and in the app. ... show more
