I purchased this ice maker for my small office so I and my three staff can enjoy nugget ice in our drinks throughout the day. I've had a nugget ice maker at my house for a couple of years & have become spoiled, only wanting nugget ice. The machine at home is from a well-known brand that starts with G and ends in Electric, which has been a very solid machine. So, I have experience with a nugget ice maker and something to which to compare this machine. I have been using the HiCOZY Ice Machine for about a week now. General Thoughts about Nugget Ice Makers: These countertop ice makers are inherently noisy, so don't expect any of these machines to be super quiet. At home I have placed the ice maker in the utility room as it is too noisy for the kitchen/living area. If you are planning to put an ice maker in an area where you watch TV or need some silence, you might want to make different plans. HiCOZY Impression: I decided to give this ice maker a try because I was able to pick it up for $229 on Amazon Prime Deal Days. After delivery, I let the ice maker just sit in the box, upright, for a couple of days to give the Freon a chance to settle. Upon opening the outer cardboard box, I found the product box and packaging to have a "high end" feel. I was impressed with how the ice maker was presented. In setting the ice maker up, I followed the instructions to a tee, and ran a cleaning cycle a couple of times just to make sure all the manufacturing chemicals were washed away. I was impressed that this ice maker came with a complete kit to connect it to a constant water supply under the sink. I set this ice maker up in the kitchenette in my office, which is away from staff working areas, so I didn't have to worry about excessive noise from the machine. I had planned to eventually connect the water supply line, but now I'm having second thoughts. On the initial use, I filled the reservoir (under the ice basket), plugged the machine in and started the ice making cycle. My initial impression about the controls is - confusing! You have to know what the different color lights mean (Solid white, solid blue, flashing blue, flashing blue/white/orange). Also, the machine is controlled by one button that requires multiple pushes to achieve various operations. At least there is a sticker on top of the machine, but it's still confusing. After starting the ice making cycle, I was impressed that the first ice nugget fell within about 90 seconds. We had a full bin of ice within about 40 minutes. My staff were so excited to have nugget ice! The first couple of days went just fine, but a couple of days ago when I arrived at the office I went to get a cup of ice and found the ice bin pushed all the way out and the reservoir and area behind the bin packed full of ice. My first thought was, "who neglected to push in the ice bin after getting ice". Upon asking the staff they advised that the ice bin was closed when they left the office. I cleaned out the block of ice and restarted the cycle. When I went to get ice a couple of hours later, I found the same thing; ice bin pushed all the way out, and ice piled up behind the bin in the reservoir. I transferred the ice into the bin and didn’t have any issues the rest of the day. When I left the office yesterday I made sure the bin was fully pushed in and again found the same issue this morning. So, at the end of the day, I would not recommend this nugget ice maker. It makes perfectly good ice and seems to make ice rather quickly. However, due to the confusing controls and the ice bin issue discussed above I wouldn’t recommend this machine. Perhaps, with a few design tweaks, this ice maker could rival the more expensive, well-known, brands. But not yet. We’ll continue to use it (with some tape to hold in the bin) to see how long this machine holds up. 11/08/2023 EDIT OK, I'm revising my initial review for the HICOZY Icemaker to "Recommended". First, I have to say that the HICOZY customer services is stellar! The day after I wrote my mediocre review of their product, I was contacted by email with an offer for a refund. There were also several suggestions to alleviate the problem which had already been attempted after reading the troubleshooting suggestions on the internet. I never contacted them back for a refund as I figured out how to fix the problem. After reading through the manual I discovered there are two modes for this machine that is changed by a toggle switch on the back of the machine. There is a regular mode and an eco mode. When I set the ice machine up I left it on the regular mode which, I discovered, continues to make ice even after the bin is full. As such, when the bin filled up the machine continued to make ice which pushed the bin out, causing ice to fall behind the bin. The ice in the bin would melt back into the reservoir and the machine continued to make ice until it completely fill the reservoir, behind the bin, with ice until it ran out of water. After making the switch to Eco Mode the machine would stop making ice when the bin filled up. The only problem is that you need to press a button to resume the ice making process. For that reason I give it 4 Stars. Overall, the ladies and I are enjoying nugget ice in our office! ... show more

Okay, so long story, but worth the read. Had this $400 ice maker in our wish list for when our bar got finished. Amazon notified us of a lightning deal for $340 a few months early. We took the deal and set the box to the side while the bar was getting done. Almost 4 months later, we opened the box, did the cleaning recommended in the book and started enjoying awesome "crunchy ice." 😁👍 24 hours later the maker developed a screech like windshield wipers on dry glass. 😖 Checked Amazon to find out we were 12 days past our return window. Contacted Hicozy and Mikah sent us a return label to send the maker back, saying we would get a replacement 5-7 days after they received the bad one. The next day he emailed that UPS had notified him it was in route to him- he sent the replacement that morning instead of waiting. We got it 3 days later (probably same day he got the bad one back, honestly!) Set up the new maker, cleaned it 3x, "just to be sure" since we were gunshy. Started enjoying awesome ice again; the world is all good. 24 hours later, same screeching sound! 🤦🏻♀️ another email to Mikah with a short video included so he could see/ hear the issue. He called me to discuss the problem within hours of me sending the email. Long story short, return the second maker, get a refund and sorry for the hassle. Summery: The maker makes awesome ice, really fast. But!!! Both the makers I received ended up malfunctioning. Still made great ice very fast, but could not use due to screeching sound. Customer service is top notch! I work in HVAC, so I understand that the occasional mechanical issues pop up with refrigeration devices. I have had it happen to me before with my customers equipment. Best I could do was what Hicozy did for me: apologize for the inconvenience and replace the offending equipment. I have zero problems with getting two lemons- that stuff happens. What happens after getting the two lemons is where I might have had a problem. If Mikah had been a bad customer service agent, I would have been the first to discredit the company and their product in this review. Since they stood firmly behind their product and did the right thing by their customer, I give them 4 stars. I feel like I probably got the 2 lemons for that run, so the next customers will all get cherries. You're welcome. 😂 I can't give 5 stars because I ended up having to purchase a different ice maker in the end, but I can still recommend Hicozy as a quality firm from my experience with them. If Hicozy management reads these reviews, I want them to take two things away from this one. One: QC needs a little help in the assembly area, as I had two makers with seemingly identical issues. Check them out to figure out what's going on. Two: Mikah is the best customer support agent I have delt with in a long time. This is coming from a 38 year HVAC service technician that has delt with both sides of the service lines all 38 years. If you don't promote him to manager of the customer service department and make him give customer service classes to the rest of the department, you are wasting a precious resource within your company! So below was my one week review…its been a lil over 2 weeks and sadly its going back now. I gave cleaned it every 7 days so twice so far. I went to add wster and noticed the water looked cloudy. I rubbed it with my finger and it was like black mold everywhere. It has only been a few days since I last cleaned it. We only use bottled water in it and we use it frequently all day long. I got a few q-tips and black. It is gross. Im not sure why it happened or what caused it but I know its bern cleaned, the water is good water and water or ice sits very long due to high use. I am so sad. Ive been so impressed up to today. I didnt see in the reviews where anyone else has experienced this so im stumped but def not healthy to continue using😞 Its only been a week since we started using our new ice maker but in that week it has out performed our two Opals we’ve had in the last two years due to issues. Our first opal screeched and screamed like a mad cat in the first 2 days so we got a replacement which also screeched just not as bad. That one lasted 2 weeks past the warranty unfortunately. This machine is super quiet and it hasnt screeched at me yet. Its much smaller than my Opals but out performs them. Ice is fast and perfect. I hope it continues to work as it has been. Some of the reviews made me a lil nervous. And did I mention it is 1/2 the price of the opal? Added bonus for sure! ... show more
