    • Kindling has to be dry to split well
I don't know what the angles are for, they just get in the way.. If the cutting blade tapered thicker it would be better. Be sure your wood is dry, it separates much better. Seems strong, mount to a solid surface for safer and better control.

Arrived quickly and undamaged. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but a friend had one last fall at deer camp and it was awesome how well it split wood. I must be secured however, either to the ground ot on a larger log cutoff.

When we order firewood there's always a few pieces that are too thick to burn efficiently, so they sit unused for the winter, and we always say we'll rent a log splitter the next spring to make the pieces small enough to use. That never happens, and the pieces started piling up. Finally I saw this product and decided to try it. I'm almost 60 and am not able to swing an axe with enough force to split wood, so it made sense. I'm really glad I did. All I have to do is set a piece on top, give it a couple of taps with the back of the axe so it sticks, then give it a couple of medium whacks and it splits perfectly and with minimal effort. This thing is great! I used to use an axe and a small sledge. Hard to juggle. Now I just place a piece of wood over this splitter, tap a time or two with hammer to get the wood seated, then smack it with the hammer. Presto! It works so well that I've been splitting my wood into smaller pieces that burn great. ... show more
