  • My lower back pain has drastically reduced!
I work from home as a software developer, so I'm sitting down on my computer all day. And after that, it's playing games all night. Bottom line, I'm sitting down all day. For years I've been using different type of chairs, those that they sell on office supply stores, the $200-$300 leather ones. After sitting down in those all day, the pain in my lower back is terrible. I have two herniated discs so all those other chairs were doing more harm than good. And after a while, the piston stops working and you sink down, and the leather starts cracking and itching you and you have to throw them away and get a new one. This chair is worth every penny. Because of the mesh, you feel like you are floating on air. But good air that supports all your body. Like the headline says, my lower back pain has drastically reduced, because I feel like this chair auto adjusts to your body and works more like a car's suspension than a cushion. It is perfect in every way. The fact that its a mesh, it means your body can breathe and you don't get sweaty from sitting down on it. Price is high, but think about it. The typical chair you buy at a store dies within a few years, does you no good and doesn't have good warranty. This chair comes with like 12 year warranty or something, so if you do the math, it will cost about the same year-over-year if you buy a crappy one, plus this one just feels so good that your back will appreciate it. ... show more

  • The most comfortable chair for everything including gaming.
I have owned several gaming chairs in the past 10 plus years, you know the ones shaped like racing seats. For some reason they just never worked for me. This chair is great i can spend upwards of 10hrs and no back pain and no aches. It is well balanced and well made. They are expensive but worth every penny. The mesh back and seat i also love plenty of air flow to keep you cool. It also comes already put together. You can literally wheel it right out of the box. ... show more

  • Comfortable but not sure about the supposed "auto-tilt"
The chair was pretty comfortable, more than the Aeron, but this new auto-tilt didn't really seem like anything special to me. Pretty much felt like I could either sit straight up or recline all the way back, just like any other office chair with the tilt tension lowered. Could be that I'm tall and weight sits higher than someone shorter, but they claim it to be a fit for all which I did not find to be true. I'm still sitting in my steel case think chair instead and find it more comfortable. ... show more

  • Great seating experience.
Shipping was fast as usual. Fully assembled. Seating and tilt feels great. I used to use workpro 9000 and after 7 years mesh seating getting lose. Workpro 9000 was not this tight feeling. I recommend anyone seating over 8 hours a day. I work from home and feel great.

  • Bought from Herman Miller, terrible warranty support.
Size: Mid Back Color: Graphite
I liked the Cosm chair (high back version) at first but it started leaking black oil/grease from the bottom. It wasn't a lot but would find a random drop every other week that stained my floor. The chair was less than a year old so I contacted Herman Miller. Because I couldn't explicitly point to where the oil was coming from (even though there's only one part that has the oil) they wanted me to tape a paper plate to the bottom of the chair to find the issue. I tried contacting them again to get a different agent, they eventually agreed to take a look at the chair. However, they are not willing to exchange the chair or send you a temporary one so you are stuck for weeks without an office chair while they try to repair it. Unfortunately, didn't have another chair to use and decided to sell the chair (Don't worry the buyer knew the issues I faced) I now have a Haworth Fern that I am much happier with. Though to be fair I have not had to contact their support yet. I'm honestly just mad because the warranty support I received is something I expect from a knockoff $100 chair, not from a Herman Miller costs over $1000. ... show more

  • Not the best for petites
Size: Mid Back Color: Graphite
This is definitely a very luxurious chair and in the first experience, you can tell you're getting something of what you paid for. The wheels are silent even across hardwood floors (an experience I've never personally had with the old computer chairs my family's been using for the past 15-20 years) and the material seems easily cleanable and definitely supports you well. Also, the adjustable arms are pretty nice - they click in place at 7 different heights. However, I have a couple gripes with it. 1. With the mid-back, which I assumed was designed for petites given the video on the Herman Miller website, I have a hard time comfortably leaning back. At 5'0 tall, my head hits the back of the chair right at the bump at the base of my skull so it's pretty uncomfortable to do so. I would suggest really going for the high-back version if you lean back at all. I'm considering exchanging but given 10% return fee and the necessity of good packaging to send it back without further reductions to the money you get back in the quality evaluation, idk. Make sure you really like the chair before you throw out that packaging. 2. I'm not sure what weight you would have to be to easily make use of the leaning angle and support, but at around 110 lbs, even though I'm fairly strong, I have to use a considerable amount of force in order to lean the chair back. It definitely does not lean back intuitively as I'm sure it was designed to do. I've seen this repeated in other reviews, and it's true. I would think you have to be maybe 130-140 lbs+ for that to comfortably work for you. 3. Can't fidget in the many sitting positions I'm used to as someone short and with bad posture from the years of not having a desk/chair that fits my height. The material of the chair is such that when I sit on my feet, the tops of my feet dig into the plastic chair material in such a way that it kind of hurts to sit that way for more than a few minutes. Not sure exactly how to explain it. TL;DR luxurious chair but not so comfortable for petites. For ref I'm 5'0 110 lbs and can't lean back without putting a *lot* of force into it. Not comfortable material for sitting on your bare feet and fidgeting in your 5 different sitting positions (one leg up, cross legged, etc) - the plastic digs into the tops of your feet. If you're reading this review and going, yeah that's fine it'll help me with posture, sure go for it, but as someone who thought the exact same thing I'd say at least go for the high back. The mid back is not comfortable and doesn't give neck/headrest support. Really other than that this is a nice chair and I'm sure will last a long time. ... show more
