I got this to put on my camper so I would know if one of my kids opened the door in the middle of the night. The problem is it is WAYYY too loud; if it was armed and went off it would wake the whole campground! This may be good for home security where you want a loud alarm or chime to deter a robber, but it is not good for what I wanted it for so I am returning. ... show more

Like some other reviewers, we have a child (6yo daughter) that likes to sneak out of her room. Well she used to, she doesn't anymore. This four settings: 1. A simple door chime that only "ding-dongs" once when the door is open. 2. A "beep beep beep" with about a two second delay and another "beep beep beep". This will shut off once the door is closed again. But the delay in between beeps is long enough that a child could quickly get out and shut the door before another beep. 3. A high pitched, very loud, non-stop siren sound. It will wake up the house if it sounds for just a fraction of a second. But if the door is closed it will stop. 4. Last but not least, this is the same sound as #3. However the alarm will not stop if the door is closed and will continue to stay on until shut off with the remote. ... show more

I have a special needs child who would get up very early after his dad goes to work and go outside and get in the pool by himself. I love that this has a remote so my husband can set the alarm after he walks out the door in the mornings. Very loud.
