Before making yet another knife set purchase, I decided to thoroughly research knife sets. I learned that J.A. Henckels is rated as one of the best and most affordable knife companies. I read through several reviews of various knife sets and found that for this particular set, the reviews were mostly positive. As such, I decided to try my luck and made the purchase. The knives, block, and scissors were each protected with cardboard and wrapped separately, which I greatly appreciated. The set came scratch-free and the knives were clean, shiny, and pristine in appearance. The knives have a comfortable, smooth, and lightweight grip/feel. With the sharpness and lightweight feel of the knives, chopping, slicing, dicing, and cutting are no longer dreadful or time-consuming tasks. I am blown away by how simple it is to cleanly cut through the most stubborn of foods. I am confident that this set will last me a lifetime due to the product's quality and favorability. I am absolutely in love with this set.

This is the first piece of professional cutlery that I have procured. The shipping was fast and arrived quickly. Unboxing was straight forward, although a good knife would have been ideal. I pulled blades from their cardboard sheaths and their brilliance resembled the ancient craftsmanship of a ninja’s samurai with the sound of a Wu-Tang Clan’s Swordsman. In the words of the RZA these “are razor sharp son”. However, quick disclaimer: although Wu-Tang is for the children, these instruments of death are not. I never envisioned I needed razor sharp shiv’s until I spent the better part of a weekend using an old fixed blade scrimshaw and sawed through the femur of a very mature and highly agitated bobcat. The saying having the right tools for the job definitely is applicable and is indeed a true statement. Although, this set is marketed towards kitchenware, they could be repurposed and carried as a high end but somewhat pretentious self defense set with minor modifications and very little fabrication. I look forward to daily use of this heirloom quality set. I highly recommend this set! The Scripture says, "God's Word is the sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:17)

I gave these to my husband as a Christmas gift as he loves to cook and needed new knives. They look great, are very sharp and cut very well. The only thing to be aware of is that it is not recommended to put them in the dishwasher. We always handwash them. The thing to be cautious of is if you hand wash them, make sure to dry them too. We were washing them and putting them in the utensil holder in our dish rack, and we noticed that one or two of the knives had started to develop a bit of rust on them. So I'm not sure how I feel about that. Aside from that one thing, these have been great knives.

I had been looking for a knife set to replace my cheap Cuisinart set for a while. After much consideration, I settled on this set, due to price point, features and the esthetic of the set, as well as the Henkels name. It arrived today and they are beautiful! I will update this review after 6 months of use to see if my opinion is still the same! Update: I STILL love these knives...almost a year later and they are as beautiful as the day I took them out of the box. I do not put these in the dishwasher, hand wash only, and they have stayed sharp and rust free.

My Aunt received these as a Christmas gift and I ended up being the first person to use them; I was staying with family for the holidays and do a lot of cooking. I was excited to need a new knife set, because I knew I wanted to get these! Be VERY careful, because self-sharpening really IS self-sharpening. That’s part of why they’re so great! I’ve used these to fillet chicken breasts, trim meats, slice fruits and vegetables with ease. I also was able to slice a very soft bread with just the weight of the knife! This was great, because I’d normally be eating a smashed piece of this bread, with other knives. I haven’t tried putting them in the dishwasher and don’t intend to; I recommend hand washing.

These are not as great as a top end forged set like Whusthof Classics etc. but they are an outstanding in between. The self sharpening block makes using them a breeze. The cutting quality is on par with what you would expect from a forged knife set. The price makes the value of them outstanding. These would make great beginner kitchen sets as well as intermediate and budget minded. I have no regrets and highly recommend them.

I got these as a Christmas gift. Its only March. . They are all have rust spots. . I made sure to handwash these because I wanted to be sure they stayed nice. . That being said, we have a set of Ginsu Chika knives we've had for years. These have gone through the dishwasher hundreds of times and they are still in perfect condition. For $200+ this set BLOWS!
