Works well, quite and effective

Obviously this isn't the cheapest option available but we are happy with it. We have been using it to keep our nursery warmer than the rest of the house at night this winter. This heater is extremely useful for this purpose because it regulates itself with its own thermostat. It will operate at high power if necessary but will generally switch on and off at lower power to maintain a steady temperature. Our home's furnace runs on a schedule that allows the house to cool significantly at night before warming again around the time we get up. With this space heater we don't have to worry about continually making adjustments to make sure the temp in the nursery is correct.(as we would have to if it was like most other space heaters with a simple knob or low-med-high settings.) All in all we are quite happy with the product. A few observations: The heater sits on the floor and so obviously its thermostat reads the temperature close to the floor. (typically a lower reading) The thermometer on our baby monitor consistently reads higher than the one on the heater, but that really isn't an issue so long as they are consistent. (we just set the thermostat on the heater a few degrees lower than we want the room) This heater has a fan to circulate air through itself. This allows the heater to more effectively heat large spaces. (It claims to be capable of heating ~1,000 sq ft, which I can't vouch for) The fan is quiet but it is audible. The heater also makes some clicking noises when it kicks on and off. The heating element glows red in operation... this heater actually puts out quite a bit of light, particularly when running on high. The light/warmth are pleasant but if you want things pitch black be aware that this heater doubles as a night-light when on. (which means intermittently off and on if it is set to maintain a temperature) The heater's shell is primarily plastic but it feels solid and durable. It sits on four legs close to the ground and would be very difficult to tip over. There is a handle at the top for easy movement and it is not heavy. ... show more

This review is for the model MS-1500-IMO Mojave. Mine is 12x12x16 @ 11#. The bullet points above say it has built-in casters. This heater does not have built-in casters. I bought this heater in Oct. 2015 from Amazon for additional heat in a 17x22 foot room with 10 ft. 6 in. cathedral ceiling which has one 10 ft. and one 6 ft. base-board heaters. In the fall l use it to take the chill off ( no base-board ). In the winter l use both. This heater has a high and low speed fan. Rarely will I use the high setting. On low it is amazingly quite. And on high it is quite while producing much more heat. It also has 2 air filters-- one on each side-- KEEP THEM!CLEAN ! This heater draws a lot of air. All environments are different so take your time setting the thermostat. The remote control is a nice plus and works perfectly. For pet owners ( and parents with children ) This heater is safe. No part of this heater surface - sides - back - top - front ( Excluding the front exhaust area ) get hot or even close to hot. I have two cats. My young one lays in front with paws in contact -- my senior citizen ( 15 yrs. ) stands, sits and lays on The Top of this heater when on. ( was a little concerning then ) This heater also has an aroma feature. My cats excepted it as a warmed up toy ( Parents -- your thoughts ) Needles to say I do not use that feature. ( alternative -- use a cotton ball w/extract -- placed next to the filterss ) Q/A have asked about energy efficiency -- cost -- bills. Hard for Me to speak on this. I've only had This heater for 10 months What I can say is I use this heater in the fall w/o bace-board and in the winter with bace-board and in that short time my electric bill has not increased. I have more heat with no extra cost . In October 2015 I paid $160 for this good design and well-built heater. I wanted something that didn't look out of place but worked automatically with temp adjustments. I had ordered another one from amazon that came in broken and it happened to be one of the companies that does not work with amazon to ship back at no cost. For that reason I will not purchase anything from DealGenius.. the broken one was this one: Lifesmart Compact Power Plus 800 Square Foot Infrared Heater w/Remote Amazon received my complaint and reimbursed me for my shipping. I LOVE LOVE LOVE amazon. Anyways, the only thing I don't like is the noise. If it was for my bedroom or office I would have probably given it 3 starts. In this case it's for my babies room. Obviously I'm MORE concerned with items in his room, but the extra ambient noise keeps him sleeping. That alone is worth the extra star. If I could go 4.5 I would. 4 fo the product, 5 for the price. update: 7 months later still working great. Used to the noise in his baby monitor. It's not bad at all. Another feature I've come to like is that I can see the buttons lit up in the dark.. this helps when I have to turn it off with my toe while carrying the kiddo. It’s better than anything out there except for the Heat Storm Phoenix. I loved the Phoenix so much I thought I’d buy this one for the family room where the dogs usually are because it looked impossible to tip over. That is true. You’re not going to knock it over. But the blowy vent seems to be smaller and although it puts out a good amount of heat it doesn’t seem to distribute it like the Phoenix. It’s a little bit louder than the Phoenix. Bottom line, perfect for my situation, would be great for kids game room, garages, man cave etc. ... show more

It has a thermostat built in, so if it detects that the temperature in the room is at or exceeds the temperature you set it to, it won't provide any heat. That makes sense in theory, except its internal thermometer is way off. I'm standing in my cold living room shivering and its registering a temperature of 80 degrees and won't do anything? I'll save the rant, but this is why I hate "smart" products. When the unit "decides" its OK and actually provides heat, it works great. ... show more

Works Great 👍😊😀 I thought it was going to be smaller than what it is it's a nice size very powerful quiet two modes.. now because the regular mode I'm guessing sucks a lot of juice it pulls my switch so I have to use the other mode which is the energy saving mode which works great by the way it just makes it blow on low all the time now everything works just fine other than the thermostat it reaches the temperature I set it to and it will go past it.. or it gets stuck at a certain temperature and I have to go past a in order for the thermostat actually start working in register the actual temperature in the room the controller right off the bat one button came off the first time I used it so what I did was hooking it up to a smart plug with Alexa because since the thermostat doesn't want to work it gets too hot can't turn it off with the remote due to the button but it works great with Alexa with a smart plug other than that I am very happy with the heater very powerful I'm just sure this one was defective I actually would buy it again ... show more

Great Heater for a Small Space

With the mixed ratings this heater I ran across while looking for a small heater, this one fits the bill well. It puts out a surprising amount of heat and works well in a smaller area (in my case, about half of my 12' x 12' office), heats up quickly, and operates pretty quietly. It will not heat an entire room quickly, but if you are looking for something to keep an area warm, this is your guy. I would definitely recommend it. ... show more

Absolute garbage, a paperweight that *maybe* glows red, at best

I ordered this heater. The first one received was completely DOA. Upon plugging it in, not even the power button lit up. One defective unit could be just a fluke, so I requested a replacement. I returned the first heater and a few days later received the replacement. This second heater got power, so I was hopeful. That did not last long. The second heater gets up to 50° easily. Whether the room was 43° or 49° upon turning on the heater, over the course of several days, it quickly got up to 50°… then it stays at 50° no matter how many hours the heater runs, and no matter how high the built in thermostat is set. 1 hour, 12 hours, most likely even if it was on for a solid week… it doesn’t matter, this thing will not ever get above 50°. Unless you like expensive paperweights that use 1500 watts of power to light up red (if you’re lucky enough to get one that powers on at all)… this “heater is a useless piece of garbage. I’m returning the second one as well and most definitely will NOT be replacing it with any other Heat Storm product. ... show more
