This stuff works so well it's frightening, but I do have to make one comment: DRINK A LOT OF WATER while you are taking this stuff! I originally started experimenting with this product as a potential way to detox my digestive track since I've noticed it was always included in some "home" kits I've tried in the past so I decided to give it a go. What I've Noticed: I have terrible digestion and while taking this, my digestive problems seem to vanish. I also have mild acne and facial redness that clears up with this product as well; I wasn't even expecting this but it confirms my thought that a bad digestive system does influence skin health. I also love to exercise and I've noticed that this product will draw a lot of water out of the body... And when I say a lot.. I mean a lot! This is why I wouldn't recommend this as a permanent solution or fix. If anything, it's taught me how important it is to maintain good digestive health. I know I can use this stuff to deal with really "bad" digestive days. My experience and gut intuition tells me that this product also will absorb any other medications or supplements that you are taking since the job of this product is to basically "trap" everything and anything it comes across down there. I would refrain from taking any unnecessary medication and/or supplements while taking this product and even be careful if you're taking prescription stuff as well. If you suffer food or alcohol poisoning there is a very good chance that the hospital or doctor you visit will prescribe this type of product in the moment as well. On another side and related note - this stuff seems to work exceptionally well for hang overs if you take it while you are drinking ;) ... show more

I ordered these last night, and received them super early this morning. Only $9.00 for overnight shipping was worth it when the 3 pack with shipping was the same price as buying 2 bottles at the local CVS. I have to say, I ordered these because I have severe stomach issues. Painful cramping daily, always bloated, and recently diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I took two this morning before breakfast and have already seen a significant change. No bloating, no running to the bathroom after my coffee or yogurt, and no pain! I believe we have found a miracle cure for those of us who suffer from stomach issues. I didn't buy these to whiten my teeth but after reading all of these reviews I thought, hey why not, I have it here so lets give it a try....AMAZED. I brushed my teeth first, then used one pill and a little bit of water and brushed lightly (with a different toothbrush). Left on for 5 minutes and my teeth have never been whiter. And I have paid for expensive whitening at the dentist before and didn't get these results. I am just amazed with these pills. Here's a tip for you using them for whitening that are saying its messy...I used a small pin/needle from my sewing kit to poke a little hole on one end. Turned the pill over and all the charcoal came right out no problem, no mess. :) I think I'll try a face mask too while I'm at it! If your hesitant about buying these, change your tune, they're worth it! ... show more

    • Teeth Whitening Review - Good but you need a plan of attack!

I bought this for one purpose and one purpose only and that was to try it as a tooth whitener. Here's my story. First my teeth were pretty yellow, cigars, wine (every day), black coffee (lots, every day) had done its toll. So I gave activated charcoal a whirl and bought the capsules specifically for this chore as they seemed easier to manage. Before I get into the process, I will tell you that it works! The immediate results are very impressive. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that after a 10 minute application and brush, my teeth were 5X whiter (sorry, I won't post pictures). It doesn't last though... I was applying once a week or so and by the seventh day, I was seeing the yellow again. Not as bad as it was before I started. I could stop coffee and wine I suppose but that's not going to happen!. It is so very time consuming that the only opportunity that I had 20-30 minutes to commit to the process was over the weekend. I do feel that if you could go through the process twice a week or more, you might start to get more cumulative results. I would also go through the steps if I had a big presentation or meeting. My job has been conducting a number of video taped interviews of me lately and this has been a godsend. Now the biggest drawback...it is VERY MESSY! You certainly need a plan...through trial and error, here's what I do: First what you'll need (keep in mind I am admittedly obsessive about this stuff): Two Capsules of Activated Charcoal (use dry hands or tumble two out into you ceramic bowl) Small glass or ceramic bowl (I use my shaving bowl but the key is use something that will be easy to clean) Small implements to cut open the capsules (I use small scissors and tweezers from my shaving kit) Small in-between teeth cleaners (in between my lower front teeth are always tough to reach) Cotton swab (to apply the charcoal) Separate tooth brush (that will get black- so keep away from other teeth cleaning supplies) Tongue scraper (your tongue will get black) Soap and water (and cloth) to clean up Ok - Here we go. Don't forget this stuff has the consistency of powder and wants to get everywhere. What I do is: Tumble two capsules into your clean and dry mug. Put the bowl in the sink and carefully cut open the capsules. It is a little like playing the game Operation! Hold the capsule with the tweezers and gently snip with scissors. I do this in the sink because I have had more than one instance where the capsule exploded and dust went, well, everywhere. Empty the capsules into the bowl... careful as the charcoal dust will want to cling and hide in the capsule's nooks and grannies. Throw away the capsules...again carefully. It is a good time to note that although quite messy... the charcoal can be cleaned up with soap and water. Now, take your cotton swap and get it wet and start to stir up the charcoal... you'll probably need another drop or two of water. I get my hand slightly wet, then let one maybe two drops into the bowl. You want the consistency of thin peanut butter, a charcoal paste if you will. Now use the cotton swap to apply to your teeth. I try to put all the charcoal paste on my front upper and lower teeth as far back as my smile will go. Making them "all black" as much as possible. Don't fret if you swallow a little, most people are purchasing this as a supplement not a tooth whitener! Now, let it sit for a few minutes... my experience indicated that the more it "steeped" on my teeth, the better the results. Stay over the sink for obvious reasons. After a few minutes is where I get my "in-between" cleaner and get those hard to reach spots. Now it is time to brush.. I use my tooth brush reserved for this purpose and focus on the front teeth (obviously!). Now you will look a fright at this point with black liquid on your lips chin and everywhere else, don't worry it will come off! After brushing a minute or two, I start to clean up. Not to be gross but you'll be spitting some pretty dark liquid down your sink. Rinse and rinse until things are pretty clear then work on cleaning your teeth (and flossing!) normally. Wash your face and hands, clean your implements, clean your sink...and your done. One more thing, look at your tongue! It's black, right? Time to scrape that baby! For me start to finish is about 20 - 30 minutes. As I said the results are amazing...it is just a big commitment in time. Good luck! ... show more

It seem too many people are taking charcoal pills regularly upon reading the myriad reviews. After seeing a negative experience review and posting a comment out of concern, I felt the need to post mine for the others. Charcoal is a non-discriminate binder that'll absorb all toxins, metals, including vital nutrients and minerals. For example, if you're already very low in potassium (high BP, fatigue/weakness, restless leg while trying falling asleep, muscle aches/cramp/spasm/numbness/tingles, heart arrhythmia/palpitations, chest pain, digestive issues, high blood sugar, crankypantsness etc, etc.), taking charcoal could possibly push you over the edge. Not having enough magnesium could also cause the problems since it affects the blood potassium level, along with certain metal toxicity (barium, thallium, cesium, etc) interferes with potassium absorption. Charcoal is an excellent inexpensive toxin binder, but it should only be used for short term emergency unless you're very keen/aware to supplement with many important trace minerals along with the key magnesium, potassium, iodine, selenium, esp. homeostasis of zinc (required for >300 enzymes functions, helps K level) and copper (antagonistic to Zn, regulates iron, activates B vitamins), etc… No one should ingest charcoal every day for long term or you’ll end up detrimentally mineral deficient, especially if you tend to overindulge in diuretics such as wine/beer/coffee. On a related note, if you tend to abuse alcohol and/or insulin resistant, be sure to also look into the insidious and often undiagnosed Thiamine (B1) deficiency which greatly affects glucose metabolism and electrolytes exchange for your nerve and muscle cells. I bought Nature’s Way Activated Charcoal Supplement to help rid toxins while taking antibiotics. I took it at bed time. However, I didn’t notice the benefits I was hoping for. Instead, I felt like it was causing some bad side effects, including insomnia. The capsules are easy to take and gluten-free, but it just didn’t work well for me. ... show more
