It didn’t warm up the chicken as good as the red light you can buy, the lamp with the red bulb puts out much more heat than this one, I’m returning it!

This Besly Heat Lamp is nice. Seems to be made quite well, and is made to handle to work in a coop outside. I tried this in our chicken coop but I guess our coop is too big for it. It didn’t heat it up very well. When you stand near it it’s very hot, but I guess with 250 W it’s made for a much smaller area. Our coop is 6’ X 6’ X 7’ tall. We do have a lot of ventilation and are going to cover up those open screen window areas to see if it helps. The other thing I noticed is that it’s pretty bright. From what I understand, chickens can’t see this infrared light, but I noticed our chickens seemed to be restless while it was on. Maybe it was the cold weather, but for now I’m not using it until we finish enclosing the coop and find a way better way to place it. It does put out heat and I’m sure would be fine for a small coop for young chicks. ... show more

Very sturdy and well made. Comes with plenty of chain for hanging anywhere. I'm using mine as my greenhouse heat lamp on my back porch. Hanging from the ceiling about 4-5 feet above my flowers & plants on a night when the temperature gets down to 30 degrees, it keeps the temperature inside the inclosed area at a nice 43-47 degrees. The enclosed area is about 5 ft x 5 ft. For it's small size I'm very impressed with its performance. My only con is that it doesn't have a straight mounting option to allow you to adjust the direction you want the heat lamp to face. It's hanging and pointing straight down or nothing. That's why I'm using it for the flowers and not the chickens in the coop. In the coop I need to be able to adjust the direction the heat lamp faces. Overall it's a very nice heat lamp and does the job nicely ... show more

I like this lamp WAY more than the garbage silver round ones. It's much easier to control. It feels a lot safer. It's also mega hot. The light seems better distributed and when it's been really cold my khaki Campbell ducks hang out under it. It's also got a ridiculously long cord. This Waterproof 250 W Besly Heat Lamp is small but gives off a lot of heat. It has a durable non-plastic housing and long heavy duty cord. It was a little difficult to fit the protective cage over the front of the light. It seems to need two hands to bend it slightly, leaving no hands to hold the housing, so it was a two person job, but no big deal. A good thing actually, as I am 100% certain the cage will not pop off unintentionally. Not sure how easily it will come off if the bulb needs replacing, but will cross that bridge when I come to it. I love that the switch is enclosed under a water-proof seal and that the heat intensity has two settings. A satisfying purchase! ... show more
