Our first use of this vacuum was during our “pool opening“ which inevitably involves a lot of debris that has found its way to the bottom of the pool.I almost returned this product when it failed to operate on my first use. As I was packing it up in its box. My wife noticed that there was a rattling inside of the vacuum-surely I thought, this thing is a piece of junk. my wife looked inside the bottom of the unit and noticed what appeared to be a rock. In fact, there were several rocks inside of the vacuum, and they had jammed the paddle wheel that causes the vacuum to move. The vacuum is that strong that it sucked up some one and a half inch diameter rocks that had found their way into the pool unbeknownst to us. Since then, the vacuum has worked perfectly. It’s really ideal for cleaning up every several days. We just drop it in the pool and check up on it in a few hours and the pool is pristine. It does not climb right angle sides, but it will climb lesser angles, which are predominant in our pool. I’m a little OCD on efficiency and so have figured out how I can get the unit from storage to operating within two minutes. I really have no interest in the more technologically involved electrical units with rechargeable batteries, etc.. It’s just another device waiting to have some stupid problem. This thing is very simple and it’s engineering and utilizes the existing pool suction to do its thing. It’s also significantly less expensive than the more “advanced” vacuums. ... show more

Item was delivered promptly and was exactly what was expected. Hayward vacs are high quality but have many working parts and do require maintenance over time. Parts are easily replaced. When working properly the Hayward vac is the best option for keeping your pool clean in my opinion.

DO NOT BUY THIS. You CANNOT RETURN this item after amazons return policy and it will break at 2 months of use. We had a Hayward we were replacing that was as old as dirt because we just had our pool redone. This one didn’t even come close to the old version. The black inside piece came out of where the bearings are and the side of the black part broke. It would spin intermittently so it took us about 24 hours to realize it was broken. In the mean time to wore a hole into the inside of the unit. I contacted Amazon and they said there was nothing They could do. I called Hayward and the only thing they offered is to submit a warranty claim and hope it gets approved by this vendor. So, I have a broken pool vacuum that is brand new and no one will he me. Complete waste of $400. I will refrain from ordering something like this again on Amazon since there are no protections for buyers. ... show more

I bought mine in September 2024, was working great, now it just goes in circles and doesn't cover the pool for cleaning. I would like to get a replacement. I don't want to feel I paid $399 + tax and delivery for something that's no longer working properly in less than the 1 year warranty

I usually have to purchase a vacuum every 2 -3 yrs. I purchase the same one. It cost a little more than I like , but I like the fact it's easy to install and easy to use. It vacuums the whole pool while the pump is running. It's a good product and I recommend to anyone.

Updating this review: Since writing the review below, Hayward did respond to me. Initially they told me I had to take it to a service center again, which I said I wasn't going to do because two fixes in less than four months was unacceptable for a product that cost $350. I pushed a bit and they have since sent me a new unit for free. After a couple of weeks, it seems to be working well. So I have upgraded my review from one star to three. Hopefully this one will continue to work as it should, and that will be the end of that. I bought this pool vac in late April. After one month of service, it stopped moving on its own. I placed a warranty claim and was directed by Hayward to a service partner to have it fixed. So I did that, which meant it was in the "shop" for a week. Immediately after getting it back, it started listing to one side and would eventually move to one corner of my pool and stop. I gave it some time, thinking it might correct itself--not wanting to have to deal with another claim. No such luck. It soon stopped moving altogether again. So I called customer service again, and I got a very impersonal email directing me to a website to find a service provide to have it "fixed" again. The email has a person's name attached to it and says to email back with questions. So I did. I said I'm not willing to deal with a second repair job on a new vac I paid a lot of money for. I said I'm willing to trade up to a different Hayward model, and I'll gladly pay the difference, so long a Hayward will credit me what I've already paid and that they will take this broken one back at their expense. I think that's reasonable--that maybe I just got a bad unit and am willing to give them another shot. That was two days ago, and nobody has responded. I even sent a follow-up email requesting a prompt response, which I shouldn't have to do. So far, nothing. I think I am being polite and acting in good faith, so I'm pretty disappointed in Hayward's lack of communication and lack of ownership that they sold me a crappy product. We'll see how this plays out. But at this point, I cannot recommend this company or its products. ... show more
