This electronic smart door lock is somewhat easy to install, easy to configure and works quite well in locking and unlocking your door. The installation was not too hard, but it can be a bit of a hassle for those who are not used to or have very little experience with handywork. The hardest part, or for me at least, is feeding the connection wire through the door hole while holding the unit in place. The plug is a bit difficult to connect to the back of the unit, but once it's done everything after that was pretty easy to complete the installation after. The door operates on four AA batteries, which are not included. I did come to a small issue with the locking mechanism, for some reason it would jam when the deadbolt would be halfway extended and then the lock would tell me "failed". After dissembling it from the door and checking it and ensuring it worked, I reattached it back onto the door and the "failed" happened again. I pulled the deadbolt out fully and pushed it back into the door, and for some reason that I still don't know how, it works perfectly now with no more issues. Configuring the lock is fairly simple, just follow the instructions given to create an administrator account, which I used my fingerprint as the way to access the admin menu. There are multiple ways to make the lock unlock you can by fingerprint, keycard, passcode or simply using the physical keys. However, before you can use any of the non-key unlocking options, you need to make a new user for each keycard, fingerprint, or passcode. Obviously, with the fingerprint option you need the person that you wish to give access to present to record their fingerprint for the first time, once added they can unlock your door whenever they visit. The passcode mode allows you to either make a one-time pass, which can only be used once to unlock the door, or you can make a registered user passcode which can be used at any time. The RFID keycards also need to be registered as a user and like the passcode can be used any time to unlock the door. The physical key(s) just function like a traditional door lock, which can be handy to have just in case the door lock's battery dies. There is an "emergency power" backup option which uses stored power from an USB power brick, this is only useful if the batteries on the door lock are dead AND IF you have a portable power bank that you can connect to the door lock via MIcro USB. That's A LOT of things to have to be able to use this emergency power backup, so it's just better to have the physical key as a backup; of course, this only applies if you're trying to enter your home. To unlock the door while at home, you can either press the unlock button near the deadbolts knob or simply turn the deadbolt knob itself. The same can be done to lock the door while in your home. Now to lock the door when leaving your home, you can press the lock icon on the keypad or manually lock the door with the key. To use the physical keys, you must press out the small magnetic keyhole cover that is beneath the keypad. The touch keypad is decent, does seem to require a bit of press rather than a quick tap to register any input. The UI on the screen is nothing too fancy, it just displays basic information such as the time, battery status and also when the door is being locked/unlocked. There is also an audible voice that informs you on numerous events that happen with the lock, the one I hear mostly is the "Door Unlocked" one when I unlock the door to enter my home and "Door Locked" when I lock it when leaving. Overall, this electronic door lock does function well and does everything that it claims to offer. Once installed and configured it's quite convenient to be able to unlock your door with a quick tap of a finger or a card, especially with shopping bags in hand. And the option to add more users allows you to give trusted friends and family members access to your home without having to have physical key. I've installed a ton of locksets in my time and this one installs just like any other. Make sure that you use all the pieces included in the box and don't try to fit it to your existing hardware. The entry handle didn't have as much throw as my old handle and would not have been able to pull the latch in far enough to open the door. There were also some very slight differences in the geometry of the latch plates. The only difficulty I had was that I needed to reset the length of both the deadbolt and the entry and adjusting the deadbolt took some effort. Once installed, setting it up is incredibly easy. After pressing the "SET" button on the inside panel and putting in the admin code, I was taken to the main menu and began setting up users. I set up my thumb print and my wife's fingerprint as admin users as well as an 8 digit pin, then set up the three cards and each of my kids as regular users (don't have access to make changes). There is also an option to set up one-time codes, so you could give access to a delivery driver or neighbor or something, but they can only be used one time, so you couldn't do that for a week long dog sitter or something. You would have to set up a regular user, then delete them later. I read another review that said that kids' fingerprints can be a little iffy, so I made sure to use their thumbs, but my daughter still had trouble opening the door the first time she tried in a real situation. I cleared her user ID and recreated it, so we'll see if it continues. I have had no problems. If you try and fail too many times it locks out for 3 minutes and sounds an alarm. You can silence the alarm by turning the lock manually, but you have to wait out the 3 minutes. Another reviewer couldn't find the keyhole. There is a small black disk in the middle of a knob below the keypad. If you press the bottom left (southwest position) of the disk, it pops off and you'll find the keyhole there. It reattaches by a magnet. One last note is that the lock requires 4x 1.5V AA Alkaline batteries. You cannot use rechargeable batteries because it needs a minimum of 4.5V to operate and rechargeable NiMH AA batteries are only 1.2V. They will work for a very short time, but as they begin to discharge, they'll drop from 4.8V to below 4.5V very quickly. If your batteries die, there is a USB-Micro port on the front of the lock, so if you just happen to have a battery pack and a USB-Micro cable on you, you can open your door. ... show more

I am not a handy person around the house but was able to install it with a friends help. It is easy to program and works well. I do wish it had traditional keys I could have duplicated. I is difficult to get to the key option to open that way. Since it runs solely on batteries I’ll have to make sure I change the batteries before they go dead. Started locking me out of the house and wouldn't open. Just displayed attempt to open failed. I don't know if I got a badd product or what but the gears inside sounded like they where DOA. Was making funny sounds at first.
