It is a viewing pleasure to watch as it is heating the water ..... AND: it heats the water to a boil much quicker than with a water kettle on my stove would. It is easy to use and functions exactly as described in the owner's instructions. Using COMMON SENSE with this item is a PLUS!!! I choose not to leave the area for a few minutes while the item is heating the water.... as there is not an audible alarm of any sort to alert you that the water has been heated. If you are near the kettle for just a few minutes while it is operating, the visual cues are sufficient. I also make it a habit to remove the base/unplug the cord immediately after l am done with using the item, and stash it away. HELPFULNESS IN THE KITCHEN: I LOVE to use this item as an adjunct to other items in the kitchen. It heats water so fast that l now tend to add the heated water to my crockpot for better efficiency and shorter overall cooking times. Same with my rice cooker. I’ve purchased a few all metal electric tea kettles that have off slight metallic taste from boiling. I’m very happy with this glass model. Even though there are metal components, they don’t give off any metallic taste. For cleaning, I always pour out excess water after boiling, and have not had any issue with rust. I will update if it occurs as some reviews photos have shown. This kettle boils very quickly, and the blue leds are not necessary, but are nice. There aren’t any complicated controls, it’s on or off. My wife and I purchased the Hamilton Beach Glass Electric Tea Kettle in November of 2021 and use it every day to heat water for hot tea. We also use it to heat water for packaged soups and hot chocolate. It heats up the water very fast and automatically turns off when it reaches a fast boil. The bottom of the carafe does not heat up so it is safe to place it on a kitchen surface. We highly recommend this product. ... show more
