This tea kettle does what it is supposed to do, and boils water. My one complaint is that after about a year and a half of regular daily use, the plastic latch mechanism for the lid broke. The lid now only latches on one side, and if you aren't careful it wont latch at all. That doesn't prevent the kettle from boiling water, but if the lid doesn't latch properly then the auto-shutoff won't work. ... show more

I wasn’t sure if I should buy this because I already have a similarly sized hot water thermos that I love and use often for hot tea during the day. It occurred to me that it takes unnecessary energy (mine and the energy company’s) to heat water in a pan on the stove to fill my thermos, and to reheat as needed. So I got this. There are more expensive and fancier ones to choose from, but I don’t care if my water is 212 or 200 degrees, I just want it hot, and this delivers at a great price (on sale for $29 when I purchased). You plug it in, fill it with water, and flip it on. It comes to a boil in minutes and then turns itself off. I use filtered water which is chilled from the fridge and it still takes only a few minutes. One reviewer talks about the carafe dripping as it pours, and the same or another reviewer said theirs was not shutting off when it boiled. I discovered that if the top is not securely snapped shut, both of these things happen, and it creates a burn hazard from the steam. Be sure your top has snapped closed to avoid problems. As a word to the wise, please flip the switch off before lifting it off the base to pour, and unplug the unit after use to be safe. It takes a second to replug it if you want to reheat. ... show more

2L pot, but Max fill line is 1.7L which seems odd to me. At least it's enough to fill my coffee pot. Blue LED is a nice touch, large "on" button when you're bleary in the early mornings.

I bought this for my 88 year old mother who likes to boil water for a long time for some reason. I really wish the auto shut off worked better. I may have to find something safer because I'm worried that she'll leave this boiling until all the water's gone and it explodes.
