First, this searing grill looks great on a countertop. The black and faux stainless steel makes for nice eye-candy on a kitchen counter. It comes disassembled but takes less than a minute to put together. I liked the window on the lid. You can see stuff cooking without having to lift the lid. Pre-heating the grill takes around 10 minutes for 350F. My first cook was brats (fat sausages) and came out nicely. The instruction guide is optimistic on cooking times. The guide said 14-16 minutes but these brats were a bit thick so they took longer. The power cord is on the short side. Not a deal breaker though. Cleanup is a breeze. The grilling surface comes out and can be hand-washed. The drip tray comes out as well and can be hand-washed. One thing to note is that there is only a single grilling side. This grill isn't like other "foreman-type" grills with heated surfaces on both sides. Also, the grill is non-stick so you should use rubber utensils. You can use metal ones just be careful not to scratch the grill. The grill has a red and green LED light to indicate when the grill is powered on and ready for use after warming up. All in all, it got the job done albeit with slightly longer cooking times. Food was delicious and cleanup went fast. So far so good. Have used about a dozen times. Nice for in the house as it doesn't throw off smoke and grease. I like the affordable price and build quality. Well designed and easy to use and clean up. What do you need to know? There is no off/on switch - I miss that. Cooking times compared to my outdoor gas grill - both @ 400 degrees. Normally I would cook a steak at 4-5 minutes per side on my gas grill (medium rare). You'll have to experiment but I go 8-10 minutes per side on this indoor grill. I've used this several times now and so far I am really loving it. As far as cleaning, I find it VERY easy to clean, I've used sticky BBQ sauce and sweet and sour sauce on different items I've cooked, and when I'm done cooking, I take all 4 parts, grill plate, cover, drip tray and bottom to the sink and spray the grill and top cover with my sink sprayer under hot water and everything just washes off quickly, the whole thing actually comes apart which makes this extremely easy to clean. I have only hand washed everything so far using hot, soapy water with my handmade dishcloths that are made from 100% cotton yarn. They do not scratch the grill plate or other parts of the grill. I have not put any parts in the dishwasher as of yet. The grill gets pretty hot and the sear setting works well. I like the view window, you can see everything cooking and I haven't noticed a lot of smoke, like some have mentioned, I've cooked burgers, chicken and steaks using temps up to 400 degrees, as well as the sear setting, and there was very little smoke, although before I cooked anything on it the very first time, I turned the oven up to 350, and just let anything burn off that may have been on the grill plate from manufacturing. When you throw something on the grill plate, it smokes a bit, but no more than when using a cast iron skillet and throwing something down, it smokes at first. Now for a few things I'm not crazy about: 1. This is yet another appliance with no designated ON/OFF switch, it must be unplugged to officially be OFF, so if you forget to unplug it, it will stay on whatever temp you had it set on last, not crazy about that, so just remember to unplug it 2. The lid comes off kind of easily when opening grill cover all the way when you need to flip or turn something over, it's happened a few times after opening while cooking. 3. The drip tray has already warped after 3 uses, which is kind of surprising, it feels more like soft plastic than a more sturdy, hard material. It still fits in the base, at least for now. 4. It would have been nice if they included the special little spatula that many other indoor grills come with, I've had to use tongs to remove everything from grill, doesn't work great with burgers lol. Things I like about it: 1. All 4 sections of the grill come apart, and this really makes it easy to clean. 2. You can easily remove the drip tray immediately after cooking, it does not get hot at all, so if you want to pour drippings from burgers or steak back onto the meat, you can do that easily without using an oven mitt. Despite not getting hot during use, it did warp slightly on one corner after a few uses. 3. The sides of the grill where the handles are do not get hot, you can easily move the grill around if you needed to. All in all, it is a nice alternative to an outdoor grill for those who don't like messing with gas or fire, like myself, but of course, it doesn't give it that nice, charcoal grilled flavor, but the grill plate is a good size, and the little side section is perfect if you want to grill onions or other veggies without them falling through the grate. I haven't even needed to soak the grill, even after using the different sauces I've mentioned, just running hot water over it has just melted the mess right off grill plate. This is my first indoor grill and I really am amazed. It gives what ever you cook great favor, easy instructions on use and timing of your meal. It is the perfect size for one or two people. I time items on my phone and use a thermometer to check also. It is so easy to clean- the grill surface and the drip pan are a breeze to clean. I did put small amount of cooking oil on the grill surface before I used it. Also read the directions on the use - make sure the drip pan is in place properly or you will have a mess. It is stable on my counter and doesn’t take up much room. It is five stars for me👍🏼 ... show more
