My chickens seem to like these pads as much as I do. They are soft, stand up to the chickens scratching and hose off easily. I only hose off when there is a broken egg or poop. Most of the time, I just bring a shop vac in the coop for heavy dusting and vacuum these off while I'm at it. They hold up great. I have had these pads for over a year. I don't write many reviews. I received the mats today. I didn't have to cut them because they fit perfect in the nesting boxes. I did fluff them up a bit and sprinkled nesting herbs on them (lavender, mint and basil). I heard the girls making a fuss and checked the box. After one hour, there was an egg. Our chickens like this grass. It is softer than most artificial grass. Look at the closeup image. You can see that it is structured more like real grass. There are no sharp or pointed tips. That seems to make all the difference. We added more chickens and the younger ones' eggs have weaker shells or even none, so there have been messes. It is easy to clean these pads; you just need a hose. However, we added new nesting boxes, so bought more of these pads. There were enough to replace the originals, which were still in great shape after several years of use by half a dozen birds. The one thing I would like is to get this material in continuous rolls. Our nesting boxes are wider than 12", so I have to cut strips to put alongside a full piece in each box. I cut pieces of luan to fit in each box and screwed the pads and strips to the luan. That way, unlike what happened with the original pads, the chickens can't scratch the strips up from the bottom of the box and kick them around. If I could buy a roll of the material, I could cut them to the right length. ... show more

They wore out fairly quickly. The pad in the nesting box that my hens favored has a large worn out spot. The pad still works, but would have liked to see it last longer.

since mine are not outside bunnies but domestic this made their home feel like outside and they love it. they lay on it and great for their feet and also side of cage if not a hutch for privacy and in case have a male bunny and not neutered so he doesn't spray on the wall.

We bought these thinking they would make keeping the nesting boxes clean. What we have learned is that the pads are packaged so tightly they’re compacted and not fluffy like the photos. Even after fluffy up by hand. Because they’re thin we’re finding some cracked eggs. Additionally the shavings do absorb moisture but these pads do not absorb anything resulting in messy eggs that require cleaning. We’re going to return these and go back to shavings. ... show more
