  • It works for me.
Color: Ranger Size: One Size
I primarily use the Halo Collar 5 at our property in Idaho. We have decorative white rail fencing that looks great but isn't very secure, and the area has a true outdoor, wildlife filled setting. Our dog is extremely friendly, and if she spots someone walking down the road, she's off to make a new friend. As much as I enjoy seeing her social side, I'm not comfortable with her running toward the road, which is why I decided to try the Halo Collar. So far, I've been impressed with the mapping and fence creation. The satellite image quality for my property was surprisingly good, and I've found the fence accuracy to be reliable. My recommendation is to create your fence, activate it, and then walk the entire perimeter with the collar in your hand. This gives you a good feel for where the boundaries are and helps verify that everything is working as expected before putting it on your dog. I've found that my dog is very responsive to the sound feedback, so I haven't had to use the static correction feature. I'll also mention a couple of things that may help other owners. First, I charge the collar every day. I don't really care what the advertised battery life is I'm not willing to risk the battery dying and losing track of my dog. I treat this collar as a tool to keep my dog safe in certain situations, not as a set it and forget it solution. To me, it's no different than using a leash when walking my dog on public roads. When we're done with the walk, I take the leash off and put it away. The collar serves a similar purpose. At our primary home, my dog can free roam safely because the property is fully fenced. In Idaho, where the fencing is more decorative than secure, I need to be more aware of her surroundings and the potential risks. ... show more

  • Bea purchase I've made for my dog
Color: Orchid Size: One Size
I put off buying the Halo Collar 5 for months because of the price. Looking back, I wish I had done it sooner. We don’t have a fenced yard, and I wasn’t interested in installing a traditional invisible fence with buried wires. The biggest reason I chose Halo was the ability to create a wireless dog fence right from my phone. Setup took less time than I expected, and I was able to adjust the boundaries whenever needed. The first few days were mostly about training, but my dog picked it up quickly. What surprised me was how much more relaxed I felt. Before Halo, I was constantly watching to make sure he didn’t wander too far. Now he has room to explore while still staying within the boundaries I’ve set. The GPS tracking has already paid for itself. There have been a couple of times when my dog slipped out unexpectedly, and being able to see his location immediately removed a lot of the panic. As a dog owner, that’s hard to put a price on. The collar itself feels well made, and the app has been easy to use. I don’t consider myself particularly tech-savvy, but I haven’t had any issues figuring things out. No product is perfect, and there is definitely a learning curve in the beginning. But once we got through that adjustment period, it became part of our daily routine. For anyone looking for an invisible fence or wireless dog fence without the hassle of digging up their yard, this has been one of the best purchases I’ve made for my dog. Most importantly, my dog gets more freedom, and I get more peace of mind. That’s really what I was hoping for when I bought it. ... show more

  • Cannot recommend
Color: Realtree Camo Size: One Size
My experience with Halo has been so disappointing that other dog owners deserve to know what they're getting into. I purchased a Halo Collar approximately three months ago for my now 8-month-old Golden Retriever. The system is marketed as a premium GPS containment solution, and at roughly $500 plus an ongoing subscription, I expected reliability and responsive customer support. Instead, I've experienced repeated boundary drift issues where the fence line appears to shift significantly from where it was originally set. On multiple occasions, the collar corrected my dog well inside what should have been a safe area. The final straw occurred when my dog was lying on his bed, nowhere near the boundary line, and the collar delivered a correction. After spending hours troubleshooting with support, I was told the collar was one firmware update behind and that the issue may have been related to a firmware update that failed to install properly. Think about that for a moment. A dog was corrected inside a designated safe area because a firmware update may not have successfully installed. My dog has no way of understanding the difference between a legitimate boundary correction and a software failure. All he knows is that he was punished while doing absolutely nothing wrong. The customer service experience has been equally frustrating. Over the course of a single week, I spent more than three hours on hold with Halo. At one point, I was staring at a Dog Park chat queue that remained stuck for an extended period while the phone system reported dozens of callers ahead of me. To be fair, every representative I spoke with was polite and professional. The problem is not the frontline employees. The problem is the system. Long wait times appear to be normal, and customers are expected to invest hours of their own time troubleshooting products that should simply work. What ultimately pushed this review to one star—or honestly zero stars if that were an option—is the warranty process. Even after technical support acknowledged that the collar needed replacement, obtaining that replacement became another lengthy process involving additional contacts, authorizations, and delays. When a premium safety product fails, the replacement process should be straightforward. Instead, it felt like I had to repeatedly prove there was a problem despite extensive troubleshooting and documented incidents. The most concerning part is that this is not a cosmetic defect or a convenience issue. This product is designed to deliver corrections to animals. Accuracy and reliability are the entire point of the system. When the technology fails, it directly affects your dog's trust, confidence, and safety. I wanted to love Halo. I was willing to pay premium pricing for premium performance. Unfortunately, my experience has been a defective collar, shifting boundaries, false corrections, excessive support wait times, and a frustrating warranty process. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Halo. ... show more

  • Standard Poodle - 3 weeks to learn the rules Standard Poodle - 3 weeks to learn the rules
Color: Orchid Size: One Size
Expensive - Actually PRICELESS!! I’m sitting outside on a warm spring morning while my 13 month old standard poodle, Zoe, is wondering around our 3 acres – investigating under bushes, chasing a bird, stopping for a drink, running full speed after a rabbit she will never catch, and just enjoying her life as a dog. I am sitting in comfort, enjoying nature, even though I don’t always have my eyes on Zoe. As a teenager, she does look for ways to get herself into trouble, but outside there is so much enrichment naturally in her environment she doesn’t think about chewing on things or seeking negative attention. No matter where she is, if I use the callback whistle, she comes running to me. It has been weeks since she even wondered near the boundary limits. Over the last week or two she did very well responding to the warnings and returned back into the yard never breaching the fence. She has had a boy on a bicycle, passing cars, and vermin and wildlife that scurry out of her reach. She continues to respect the boundary and gives up the chase until they happen back into the yard area. I could not be more pleased with the accuracy and stability of the fence because our property is long and narrow The option of drawing the fence line in the app was a game changer. In the past, we’ve used underground wire. There was always a break somewhere along the way by a rodent, mole, weevil, etc., chewing through. Once our system was even struck by lightning. The fact that Halo uses GPS and Bluetooth takes away all those worries, as well. I do not hesitate to highly recommend the Halo system. Thank you for bringing peace and harmony to our home. ... show more

  • BEST WIRELESS DOG FENCE ON THE MARKET! BEST WIRELESS DOG FENCE ON THE MARKET!
Color: Midnight Size: One Size
This collar has been a game changer! I have a very clever German Shephard that consistently finds new ways to escape my backyard. After numerous times of her getting out and being picked up by animal control we decided to invest in the Halo invisible wireless dog fence and we are so happy that we did. We can leave our dog in the backyard worry free. She is less anxious and behaves better because she has more freedom and we have peace of mind. This collar is 100% worth the cost and is very high quality. I was very impressed with the easy setup and how quickly my dog responded to the trainings and how many trainings are on the app. I fully believe that the value will continue to increase as I use it and my dogs training and behavior will continue to improve. I've tried other wireless dog fences and they are unreliable and inconsistent, it's worth it to invest in a high quality one like the Halo system. ... show more

  • Limited usefulness outside the city.
Color: Graphite Size: One Size
I'm only a few days into owning two Halo 5 collars, so these are first impressions. Firstly, unless you live in the city with a strong, reliable cell signal, most of the collar's functions are not going to work for you. The GPS fencing should still work, as long as your city lot is also treeless with a completely unobstructed view of the sky. But for me who lives where cell signals are frequently absent or just a couple of bars and have a wooded property, it's just not working out. Secondly, I was shocked to find that your dog's whereabouts are not recorded. If she roams where there is no cell or WiFi (which is 90% of my land), there is no way to download and review the history to she where she has been. This is a feature commonly found on collars that are literally 1/10th the cost (Tractive, $40-$50; PetLink $65, etc.). I can't fathom why this feature isn't offered. After all, the required hardware is already built in, all that would be necessary to implement this would be some software. This is a HUGE hole in an otherwise very capable piece of gear. The app is useful, but not intuitive. It takes a good while to learn and remember where to find all the various settings and functions. Give yourself plenty of time to get thoroughly acquainted with it before you start training. You don't want to be fumbling around menus trying to find the whistle while your dog is racing away towards the highway! Even better than the app would be handheld remote that simply provided immediate access to the feedback functions; whistle, warning, encouragements, etc. So if you live on a treeless lot in the city or only want to use GPS fencing, the Halo 5 might work for you. But otherwise I can't recommend. I may decide to keep the collars solely for the GPS fencing, but we'll see. Update 1/2/26: Unfortunately, we weren't able to make these collars work for us and will be returning them. On the positive side, the seller's customer support has been absolutely stellar! They've been nothing but understanding and very helpful. ... show more

  • Very glitchy
Color: Orchid Size: One Size
This collar consistently has issues with connectivity, gps signal, the collar signal itself slides down under the dogs neck now matter how much you tighten it, it loosens right up. The rubber collar strap itself isn’t super high quality. In just a few months I’ve had to repeatedly replace the screws for the collar because they’ve just come loose and my dogs collars fell off on our property and I had to go retrieve it. The biggest problem is that the collar will randomly beep and use static correction on our dog for being well within their fence limits. Customer service has been unhelpful, because they’ve don’t have a solution for the issues we are having. They have checked everything on their end and told us nothing is wrong. That’s clearly not the case when our dogs are being traumatized by a low quality product which is insane for how much two of these cost. Overall I’m disappointed. This includes making sure that the gps signal was strong, and everything was set up correctly.Additionally, I bought the beacon and that works less than 25% of the time in the zone it is placed in. It’s atrocious. ... show more

  • Collar great!! Charger not.
Color: Orchid Size: One Size
The collar works exactly as described and the app is easy to navigate and understand. Training my dog to use the collar was a little time consuming but that is to be expected. Overall I’d say it’s a great product. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because it came with a charging cable but nothing to plug into an outlet with. I had to find another cable I had with an older USB port and adapter to plug into an outlet to charge it. ... show more
