Description

Visit the Store Visit the Store The Halo Collar uses sound, vibration, or optimal static feedback. There is prevention and encouragement feedback. Charge everynight for best performance and experience. If you're dog is already trained on another fence system, Halo can use the same sounds and settings that your dog has already learned. Either way, it is best to practice. What’s new for the Halo Collar 5? Redesigned with 2 chips for faster, more stable long-range connection. The AI-enhanced tracking technology delivers unmatched location accuracy. How is Halo different from other “smart” GPS and tracking dog collars? Halo Collar is a GPS fence that keeps your dog safely inside the area you define. Unlike tracking collars, which only tell you after your dog has escaped, Halo prevents them from leaving in the first place. How accurate are Halo Fences compared to other “wired” fences? Halo Fences are wireless so there is no installation, no wires, no digging, and no property damage required. Halo Fences can be placed anywhere, and are not limited by geography or other obstacles that prevent installation of a wire. What if my dog escapes the Halo Fence? If your dog leaves their Halo fence, you'll be instantly notified. Your dog will keep getting corrections if they continue moving away from home, and encouragement while they're returning. You can track your dog's real-time location in the Halo app. Does Halo use static feedback? When is this feedback useful? Halo uses optional static feedback to mimic a tap on the shoulder (as opposed to an e-collar, which hurts your dog) to break your dog's fixation in dangerous and distraction-filled situations. You can choose the level that’s best for your dog. • So Grateful We Found the Halo Collar 5
Our beagle had become an expert at digging under our fence and taking off around the neighborhood. Every time he got out, we were worried something would happen to him. We finally decided to try the Halo Collar 5, and it has honestly been one of the best purchases we’ve made for our dog. The setup was much easier than I expected. The app walks you through each step, and the built-in training made it easy to understand what we needed to do. We were able to start training on the first day, and our beagle responded really well. The lessons are simple, clear, and don’t feel overwhelming. The collar itself is very well made. We chose the Ranger color, and it looks great on our beagle. It’s easy to adjust for the perfect fit, and the buckle makes it quick to put on and take off. Even though the material feels strong and durable, it also seems comfortable enough for him to wear all day. The biggest difference has been the peace of mind. Instead of constantly worrying that he’ll find another way out of the yard, we can let him enjoy being outside without the same level of stress. The virtual fence has worked really well for us, and I love that I can make changes right from the app without having to deal with wires. No product is completely hands-off, and I think it’s important to spend the time doing the training. That made all the difference for us. If you have a dog that’s an escape artist like our beagle, I definitely recommend the Halo Collar 5. It has made our lives easier, and more importantly, it’s helped keep our dog safe. ... show more

  • Cannot recommend
My experience with Halo has been so disappointing that other dog owners deserve to know what they're getting into. I purchased a Halo Collar approximately three months ago for my now 8-month-old Golden Retriever. The system is marketed as a premium GPS containment solution, and at roughly $500 plus an ongoing subscription, I expected reliability and responsive customer support. Instead, I've experienced repeated boundary drift issues where the fence line appears to shift significantly from where it was originally set. On multiple occasions, the collar corrected my dog well inside what should have been a safe area. The final straw occurred when my dog was lying on his bed, nowhere near the boundary line, and the collar delivered a correction. After spending hours troubleshooting with support, I was told the collar was one firmware update behind and that the issue may have been related to a firmware update that failed to install properly. Think about that for a moment. A dog was corrected inside a designated safe area because a firmware update may not have successfully installed. My dog has no way of understanding the difference between a legitimate boundary correction and a software failure. All he knows is that he was punished while doing absolutely nothing wrong. The customer service experience has been equally frustrating. Over the course of a single week, I spent more than three hours on hold with Halo. At one point, I was staring at a Dog Park chat queue that remained stuck for an extended period while the phone system reported dozens of callers ahead of me. To be fair, every representative I spoke with was polite and professional. The problem is not the frontline employees. The problem is the system. Long wait times appear to be normal, and customers are expected to invest hours of their own time troubleshooting products that should simply work. What ultimately pushed this review to one star—or honestly zero stars if that were an option—is the warranty process. Even after technical support acknowledged that the collar needed replacement, obtaining that replacement became another lengthy process involving additional contacts, authorizations, and delays. When a premium safety product fails, the replacement process should be straightforward. Instead, it felt like I had to repeatedly prove there was a problem despite extensive troubleshooting and documented incidents. The most concerning part is that this is not a cosmetic defect or a convenience issue. This product is designed to deliver corrections to animals. Accuracy and reliability are the entire point of the system. When the technology fails, it directly affects your dog's trust, confidence, and safety. I wanted to love Halo. I was willing to pay premium pricing for premium performance. Unfortunately, my experience has been a defective collar, shifting boundaries, false corrections, excessive support wait times, and a frustrating warranty process. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Halo. ... show more

  • Great collar!! Stay on top of charging.. Use the short prongs
Some growing pains with this. The battery life will show 44hrs remaining then it will drop to 4hrs. I believe this happens if your dog is active and outside the home boundary, (different than the fence). If your dog is lazy and rarely leaves, it will likely last the 44hrs. If he traces the fence boundary like ours, it will constantly send feedbacks. This collar works well, and you should only need to use the shorter prongs. The longer ones irritated his skin, which could've also been cause by him crossing the boundary and receiving feedback. If your dog is used to shock collars, like mine is, don't go above 10 on the static (shock) as this collar is plenty powerful. This is a great product! Allows him to run freely now. Need to stay on top of the battery. Literally fully charged in 1 hour. Love that!!! ... show more

  • Excellent Product! Well worth the purchase. I'm glad I made the investment.
I have to admit that I was very skeptical about this product. I live in the country and have a 10 month old German Shepard. Pure energy! Prior to purchasing the collar if she saw a rabbit or squirrel the chase was gone. My biggest concern was her chasing a critter and just running through the warning tones in her collar including her final warning (getting shocked). I decided to let her go and after getting shocked a couple of times (maybe 3 times) she now stops at the first warning every time even if shes chasing. I do have a couple of recommendations. #1 Make sure your dog knows its boundaries. I spent a lot of time teaching her them. #2 If you use the “Emergency” setting (shock), start with a low setting (0 – 15 is the range). 15 is way to high. I use 5 on my dog. The GPS and WIFI is extremely accurate. There are also numerous options in the app. ... show more

  • Great collar but has a quirk or two
We love this thing for our doodle. Yes, these are expensive, but for what they do they work really well. Being able to quickly set up a virtual fence wherever you travel is a game changer and gives you real peace of mind. The GPS tracking is solid and the setup is straightforward. The one downside we’ve run into is occasionally she’ll get a warning buzz after coming back inside the house, which seems like the GPS catching up or a slight boundary hiccup. Not a dealbreaker but worth knowing going in. Overall really happy with it and would still recommend it to any dog owner who travels with their pup. ... show more

  • Very glitchy
This collar consistently has issues with connectivity, gps signal, the collar signal itself slides down under the dogs neck now matter how much you tighten it, it loosens right up. The rubber collar strap itself isn’t super high quality. In just a few months I’ve had to repeatedly replace the screws for the collar because they’ve just come loose and my dogs collars fell off on our property and I had to go retrieve it. The biggest problem is that the collar will randomly beep and use static correction on our dog for being well within their fence limits. Customer service has been unhelpful, because they’ve don’t have a solution for the issues we are having. They have checked everything on their end and told us nothing is wrong. That’s clearly not the case when our dogs are being traumatized by a low quality product which is insane for how much two of these cost. Overall I’m disappointed. This includes making sure that the gps signal was strong, and everything was set up correctly.Additionally, I bought the beacon and that works less than 25% of the time in the zone it is placed in. It’s atrocious. ... show more

  • It works for me.
I primarily use the Halo Collar 5 at our property in Idaho. We have decorative white rail fencing that looks great but isn't very secure, and the area has a true outdoor, wildlife filled setting. Our dog is extremely friendly, and if she spots someone walking down the road, she's off to make a new friend. As much as I enjoy seeing her social side, I'm not comfortable with her running toward the road, which is why I decided to try the Halo Collar. So far, I've been impressed with the mapping and fence creation. The satellite image quality for my property was surprisingly good, and I've found the fence accuracy to be reliable. My recommendation is to create your fence, activate it, and then walk the entire perimeter with the collar in your hand. This gives you a good feel for where the boundaries are and helps verify that everything is working as expected before putting it on your dog. I've found that my dog is very responsive to the sound feedback, so I haven't had to use the static correction feature. I'll also mention a couple of things that may help other owners. First, I charge the collar every day. I don't really care what the advertised battery life is I'm not willing to risk the battery dying and losing track of my dog. I treat this collar as a tool to keep my dog safe in certain situations, not as a set it and forget it solution. To me, it's no different than using a leash when walking my dog on public roads. When we're done with the walk, I take the leash off and put it away. The collar serves a similar purpose. At our primary home, my dog can free roam safely because the property is fully fenced. In Idaho, where the fencing is more decorative than secure, I need to be more aware of her surroundings and the potential risks. ... show more

  • Halo Admits to Broken Software, Disables My Collar, Then Demands $199 to Fix It!
I rarely leave negative reviews, but as a dog owner, I have a strict obligation to warn others about Halo. I spent $500 on this system, plus monthly tracking and protection fees, and it has been an absolute nightmare. I raise Belgian Malinois, and this is by far the worst tracking brand I have ever used. The GPS completely fails outside of Wi-Fi range, the collars randomly stop working, and my dogs constantly escape. If you are thinking of buying a Halo collar, please look at the literal paper trail of how they treat paying customers when their product fails: June 11 (The Broken Update): Halo sent an official email admitting they pushed out a flawed firmware update (version 3.7) that caused severe precision and tracking issues, causing collars to fail in weak GPS environments. June 20 (The Critical Malfunction): Less than ten days later, I received an urgent alert from them detecting a "critical problem" with my specific collar. They explicitly told me: "For your dog's safety, do not use the collar." The Support Ghosting: I went to their virtual support queue (the "Halo Dog Park") and emailed them to get a resolution. I was completely ignored. I have a automated email from July 1 titled "Halo Support: Sorry We Wer..." proving they left me stranded for weeks without a safe, working collar for my dogs. The $199 Extortion: When I finally got a response, they refused to replace the defective collar under warranty, despite the system being less than a year old and them admitting it was a safety hazard. Instead, they demanded $199 out of my pocket to replace it. In their June 11 email, Halo explicitly wrote, "The safety of your dog is our top priority." Their actions prove that is a complete lie. They pushed a bad update that broke the hardware, admitted it was unsafe to use, ghosted me for weeks, and then tried to charge me to fix their mistake. My daughter bought a system at the same time, faced the exact same product failures, and luckily returned hers in time. Do not risk your pet's safety or your hard-earned money on this company. Avoid at all costs! ... show more
